By the time these movies fade into the black and the feasibility of a stand alone Alien film becomes a reality, Weaver will probably be in her 80s. In which case they should then adapt one of the Darkhorse comics. It'd be a hell of a lot more intelligent writing to work from than the crap the last 2 movies have been built on. | | Static Link |

And fuck 20th Century Fox for giving this movie to a pair of amateur filmakers! And for treating the Aliens and Predator films in such a cheap way. As for a new Alien movie...I think what we need is a completely new beginning. Scrap the Ripley story already and go with something completely new. Something completely fresh. Not a remake, not a reimaging, just something completely new. And 20th Century Fox...get a decent director this time goddamit! But alas, I think we will be seeing this film a couple of years down the road....possibly a whole decade down the road when these cheap AvP movies are forgotten. | | Static Link |

Sure AvP was awfull but i think that not making another alien film is a good thing, its dead and done and should have been left at alien 3. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: crodger at April 20, 2008, 5:55 am | | Topic: alien vs predator kills any chance for part 5 Forum: JoBlo | | I'm a huge fan of the Alien series (I can still remember the first time I saw Aliens and Alien 3). This news also doesn't disappoint me. Alien:R is an abomination to the series, moreso than either AVP movie. If Sigourney said, "We were thinking of devising a way to go back in time so we could NOT make Alien:R," then I would be all for her. The Alien series has ended. It can't, in my opinion, be recovered using the same story arc. A new series with a new plot/characters (maybe one between Alien 3 and Alien:R) could be an option. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: ilovemovies at April 20, 2008, 5:43 am | | Topic: alien vs predator kills any chance for part 5 Forum: JoBlo | | If Ridley Scott and Sigourney Weaver are saying that another Alien movie won't happen because of the AVP then IMO they are just looking for an excuse to NOT do it. Because it's a bullshit excuse plain and simple. If you don't want to do it then fine, just say so. Fans might be disappointed but they might understand. But don't copout with some lame ass excuse. | | Static Link |

Seemed everybody wanted an Alien vs. Predator movie. And when FOX greenlit the first flick, that killed any chance of another Ripley movie (with or without Ridley Scott) - that's what Weaver and Scott are talking about. Than FOX when and fucked it up (even more?) by making it PG-13. AvP:R didn't help much . . . it only added a little more blood. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: SatansPuppet at April 19, 2008, 12:38 pm | | Topic: alien vs predator kills any chance for part 5 Forum: JoBlo | | Weaver is aging gracefully.... she could still do the role. I think however in the promo of alien five, the writers and creators of the film could constantly berate the made for teen audience film. Ours is better, yatta yatta yatta.... The thing with Film as well is, you can go BACK before AvP... ignore it completely.... don't even have to reference it. I thought the idea of these versus films were rejuvinate the original franchises... make sure there was interest and then plow a budget into the franchises again... unfortunately fox are greedy sons of bitches and prefer to create sub par movies. | | Static Link |

I think Sigorney Weaver's getting a little old to play Ripley..she is after all, a year shy of sixty. Don't underestimate the fact that I think she's a kick ass actress, I just think that she's just getting too old for the part. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: God of War at April 19, 2008, 5:55 am | | Topic: alien vs predator kills any chance for part 5 Forum: JoBlo | | At one stage, Ridley and Cameron were going to collaberate on an Alien movie project. Scott said in an interview that merging the two species on the bigscreen destroyed all credibility and for anymore Alien movies on his part. And if you have the original Alien boxset on dvd, in the commentary, he reaveals that he wanted to indeed make a part 5 and part 6 to Alien. Now with these AVP TURDS, we have no chance. Once again, thanks, Bro Strausse.... FUCKHEADS! And don't even get me started on Paul Anderson with his AVP movie. There is a site soley dedicated toi this issue, I found it about a year ago. But lost the link. It's amazing the stuff that was originally planned for two more Alien movies. I also read that Weaver was interested but then again she changed her mind. She said something like she was tired of the character, despite her being an amazing role. As you say, let it rest. FUCK YOU, STRAUSSE! | | Static Link |
| Posted by: yorrick brown at April 19, 2008, 5:39 am | | Topic: alien vs predator kills any chance for part 5 Forum: JoBlo | | Sigourney Weaver recently revealed that those old rumors were true - she had definitely considered making another "Alien" movie with director Ridley Scott. "The last time [Ridley and I] saw each other we talked about it. The character is still interesting [and] I'd love to work with Ridley again" she told MTV News this week. Unfortunately something has nixed those plans - "Fox has effectively killed it because of 'Alien vs. Predator.' What else can you do with the creature? You can take the situation, you can go back to where they came from. ...To play someone who ages a couple hundred years was fascinating. [But] let [Ripley] rest." | | Static Link |
