I LOVED the film. Saw it in a regular theater and loved it so much, I want to watch it at IMAX also. There's one word that kept popping up as I watched it: FUN. This film is FUN. I liked it even more than Iron Man (and I LOVED Iron Man, I thought only The Dark Knight could knock it down from the top spot). I was actually expecting a sucky movie because of the bad anticipation surrounding this film. I watched SR cartoons as a child (in Spanish, Meteoro ) but I was not a fanatic, and they got the characters down perfectly (Goodman IS pops as much as RDJ IS Iron Man). Great film and will be getting it in Blu-ray.

I saw this in a HD IMAX theater and all I could think the whole time is, THIS is how you make a cartoon into a movie! We are living in the year 2008, and it shows. Whether you think that the CGI is completely overdone, out of place, or there are just too many primary colors assaulting your senses, it fits the context of the film perfectly. They created a world that, at least for me, helped you believe in the absurdity of the plot. I spend half of the film completey in awe over the magical lucidity of the visuals, and the other half I was in awe over how awesome John Goodman still is. 12 year olds, dude. IGN gave the film a 4.5 out of 5, and I'm sure there will be a lot of you here that will disagree with the review, but they do make a lot of valid points, and I agree with most of them. I would have given the film a 4 however, because it was a tad too long, and a good chunk of the dialogue could have been disposed of in favor of some more high intensity racing scenes, as some others here have said. http://mov...

Five Points... - Definitely a kid's movie. Trailers really did make it look like it was skewing older. - Trailer's also managed to play the style down. Which I am literally finding difficult to believe as I type. - The movie had a surprising amount of The Wackowski kink to it. Though PG I can definitely see the minds behind Bound and Club Hell at work here. - The Kid was ****ing dire. Stopped the movie cold for me four or five times. - I absolutely can't imagine watching that movie in any other condition then stoned off my ass. BONUS POINT- John Goodman totally reminded me of my friends Dad in this flick. In short I liked it, I can totally see why people didn't.

A lot of the racing was pretty cool, but most of the acting and dialogue were filler--except for Royalton's initial tirade which was excellent. Speed might have tried something other than determined grimace every once in a while behind the wheel, like maybe cocky determination. Christina was hot as usual. There was sure a lot of fat floating around the set, Goodman, Sarandon (out of nowhere) and all. I agree with Murph except mostly I thought it was the kid. Obnoxious, jeeez! Iron Man will retain #1. 6/10 (Saw Indy preview. What was the lead comment, a crystal skull from the Amazon made out of solid gold? )

I didn't mind the kid and the monkey... I just didn't like the way the kid and the monkey interrupted every cool racing scene constantly. The goofy stuff was KIND of awesome, but they overdid it for sure. Were there many people at your midnight showing?

This film very well might have been on my top 10 at the end of the year if it weren't for that stupid ass kid and his monkey. Good God. The racing scenes were incredible, a lot of the acting was swell too, 90% of it was an absolute blast... But that ****ing kid and his ****ing monkey kept coming back and TRIED to make me hate the film. I've never been this angry with a film in a long time, just because I liked it so much, but yet again it could have been so much better without all the goofy shit in it. I saw it 3 hours ago and I'm still ****ing pissed. 7/10 but it should have been a 10, or at least a 9.

I read your review Josh. Very good. Hmmm.... not so sure I want to see it now. Oh well, at least there is Indiana Jones coming out the following week, anyways.

Josh, I disagree with your reviews often, but this is one time I think you're spot-on. I was even going to add it to my movies viewed list and give it 3 stars. I think a lot of people are going to get caught up in all the really dumb things about it and not appreciate the sheer visual joy, which is a real shame.

OK, I saw it.... and it's really visually amazing, and really exciting in some parts, but also REALLY cheesy and REALLY SLOW in others. I'm not sure why the Wachowskis bungled the story so badly in some sections. I'm not really allowed to say more, but it's a bit of a mixed bag. Probably a non-starter at home, but a huge hit internationally I think.

I'm excited for this movie - I think it's really well-cast. And I like the hyper-stylized look - very visually exciting - the trailers always catch my eye. They've been airing the hell outta em on MTV - that and those contest promos. Has anyone else seen those? You can win a trip to the premiere and a corvette from the film apparently....

I really loved the pictures of the movie, my expectations are actually high. The cartoon wasn't all that good but it did had some interesting plot. But I also was with high expectations for 300, and well...
