I personally thought this movie wasn't funny at all, and my brother, my old Simpsons-watching companion, thought it sucked too. I haven't been watching the show since like 2001 or something.

The show hasn't been funny for a long time, The Movie was a hell of a lot better than the majority of the series, I didn't think much of it first time round but after a rewatch it was a lot funnier.

I was a hardcore Simpson fan through their glory days and lost interest the longer the series went on until I quit watching all together. When news of the movie hit, I was skeptical at first and then pleasantly surprised. I thought it was a great addition to the Simpsons universe, and I nice breath of fresh air into Springfield. Bring on the sequel!

The movie was great and is still really funny on re-watches, I personally think that the show is still pretty funny but not as funny as it was years ago (may have something to do with two different shows updating the humor for modern audiences instead of the writers doing it themselves, then again I wouldn't really like to see a Simpsons that features racist humor and constantly takes the piss of celebrities, so Family Guy is cool).

Saw the movie opening day and loved it. The show has been my favorite for years (not the past couple though... I stopped watching it years ago) and it's fun to rewatch the classics on DVD. I thought the movie returned to the humor that made it great and it was slightly moving at times. Plus the spiderpig song was incredible.

I've never consistently watched the show, but enjoyed the movie; thought it was pretty funny and a good way to waste 90-100 minutes.

Everyone know's how the show isn't upto scratch as it used ot be, but then if you think of how many different ideas and what-not they have had, it doesn't suprise me. The movie was pretty good considering the show's past 6 or so years, but comes nowhere close to the shows 90's prime. But i still enjoy it, and when they next movie comes around, i'd say it'd be somewhat better, atleast i'd hope.

Really? I stopped watching the show years ago, so I was not too excited for the movie, but turns out it was pretty funny. That part with Marge actually moved me a bit.

The Simpsons should have ended as a series around 2000. The jokes in the last 6 or so series just aren't up to the standard of the episodes in the early to mid 90s. From series 2-8 it cannot be beat. The movie just was not funny. The only gag that made me laugh came from comic book guy when he records grandpa simpson having an epileptic fit on his mobile phone. The story bored me too. Matt Groening surely must know that the show is not as funny or as clever as it once was?
