If I were to rank those movies it be: 1. Vantage Point 2. 21 3. Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day 4. The Ruins 5. Run Fat Boy Run 6. Stop-Loss 7. The Other Boleyn Girl 8. Superhero Movie Basically, I liked all of them except for Superhero Movie which sucked. 2008 has been a decent, not great, but decent year thus far.

Maybe I should pull an Anton Chigur and find a lucky quarter.

I saw Leatherheads last night and while it wasn't laugh-out-loud hilarious, I thought it was pretty funny at parts and it was definitely entertaining enough to see for free. My only real complaint is that Renee Zelweggar (however the fuck you spell it) was annoying at times and didn't seem to properly know how to recite the dialogue. Otherwise, "light-hearted" would be the perfect word to describe the movie and I thought it was super-entertaining.

Bubba, I'm going to have to recommend you The Ruins. The best film of the year so far and the best or second best horror film of the decade. Way better than shit like Turistas, Hostel etc. and also better than good films like Cabin Fever and The Descent. I may be biased because I am a huge fan of the book, and reading the book definitely makes the film better, but I'd still recommend it otherwise. It's easily better than anything else out there right now. If you dig psychological survival flicks, this is definitely for you.

I would classify The Ruins as a "poor mans" Cabin Fever. Both are pretty disgusting but at least with Cabin Fever, the characters are entertaining and have some funny dialogue. Not to mention there are some suspenseful moments in Cabin Fever. There are absolutely NO scary or suspenseful moments in The Ruins. The crowd was laughing at a couple of key moments it was that bad.

Stay as far away as you can from The Ruins IMO. It was THAT bad. Unless you are scared of killer vines, I would wouldnt see it. There was nothing scary about it and the acting was laughable plus it was ridiculously short. 4/10

In Bruges, I'd love to check it, but it's not playing very close to me. As for Forgetting Sarah Marshall, it's either this weekend or a couple months out probably. Thanks guys! So far it looks like it'll be The Ruins, which is funny in a way, because the first movie I saw at the theater in 2007 was Bug.

Bubba, If its still playing around near you, you should go see In Bruges. Colin Ferrell is fantastic in it and damn funny.

Definitely hit up The Ruins. I hear Forgetting Sarah Marshall is pretty damn good if you're looking to go in a couple of weeks.

Yeah Run Fatboy Run might be a good shot but waiting for Forgetting Sarah Marshall might be worth waiting for

I want to see Leatherheads myself. And since 21 did pretty good at the box office last weekend, I might check that out as well. It is slim pickings though. I would recommend The Bank Job or In Bruges if you get the chance some other time or place.

Of the ones I've seen I recommend most: Vantage Point, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, 21, Stop-Loss or Run Fat Boy Run (although that can be viewed online and it's NOT a bootleg cut). Of the ones I haven't seen The Ruins and Meet Bill look really good. Leatherheads MIGHT be okay but I'm not too sure about it. March is a slim month and April isn't really looking all that better although Street Kings and Smart People look great and 88 Minutes is a pretty good thriller (despite a lackluster ending). Other than not too much exciting until Iron Man comes out in May.

If not THE RUINS, then try RUN, FATBOY, RUN. While that's not GREAT, it's probably better than most of the other shit playing in theaters right now. I see a movie every weekend (at LEAST), and it's been so bad this last month that I didn't even bother to go see anything until Sunday. I went then just because I didn't want to go a month without seeing ANY movies in theater. So, good luck with a good choice!

I'd say go for The Runis, and here's why: Both The Ruins and Leatherheads are a risk. The Ruins, however, if good, would be a much better theater movie then Leatherheads. The latter will be just as good if you watch it later when it comes out on dvd.

I don't watch a lot of movies at the theater that come out - only if it's something I want to see. The last movie I saw in the theater was a Jumper, merely cause a friend wanted to see it. It reminded me just why I've stopped going to the theater to watch movies. I'd recommend The Ruins, that's what I'm seeing this week. Know nothing about it, or the book but hear good things plus I'm still affected by seeing Boyle's The Beach, so I'm really in the mood for another "tropics" setting. It helps that Darius Khondji is the DP. So, The Ruins, my friend.

I don't think holding onto the passes and going to FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL next week would be too bad either. Don't know how you feel about the Apatow Empire though. Only 7 reviews...but 100% at RT.

I actually kinda want to see Leatherheads for the same reason, but that rating scares me. Plus they were promoting it cause they filmed in the area, and they made it look less interesting than I thought it would be. Thanks, Orson! Is there any other movies out not that I might be down with. I'm not opposed to paying for the movie, but I just really want to use those passes --- Though I know I will by Summer. Wow! Anyone else? I thought I'd be overwhelmed with recommendations by this time. Anyone? Where's Moviemaster? Oh hey, thanks xseany -- that's another lean toward The Ruins. Probably the only thing keeping me from The Ruins would be really negative comments at this point. I think the pickings are way too slim. Once more tho - If there's something else out that'd be cool, let me know. I did look - It's just not a good week for movies.

Poor bunch of films if you ask me. I'm disappointed to see Leatherheads has only received a 5.4/10, i'm a fan of screwball comedies so i'll probably watch it. Other than that I'd take a gamble on The Ruins.

Sheesh. As the title states, I don't get many chances to get out to the theater these days. Thank god for Netflix and the internet in general. So, I have a couple free passes and someone offered to babysit so I can go out and see a movie without any talking animals (not that I haven't loved Bee Movie, Horton Hears A Who, and Alvin, but alright now, I have my dad of the year hat....) Anyway.... Uh-oh. There really isn't anything out now that I'm into. At least at my local Regal (where I have the passes) Here is the listings for that theater this Sunday... http://www.imdb.com/showtimes/locati...178/2008-04-06 I'm wanting something light-hearted, but wouldn't be opposed to something with some weight behind it. I was really hoping There Will Be Blood or Be Kind Rewind were still playing, but damnit! It's slim pickens for sure. I'm inclined to try Drillbit Taylor, but eh... My wife is a MAJOR horror buff, and we are both are interested in THE RUINS, but I haven't heard much about it - though it looks hella wicked...
