| Posted by: kayhasty at August 14, 2008, 11:28 am | | Topic: The Dark Knight -Official Movie Thread Forum: Film Hobbit | | I wonder if it will make its way out of most theaters but still be playing in IMAX. If IMAX shows are still selling out, and nothing else is coming out in wide release in IMAX for a long while, I can see it sticking around through the fall. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Beatrix Kiddo at August 14, 2008, 11:28 am | | Topic: The Dark Knight -Official Movie Thread Forum: Film Hobbit | | I read an article a while back, basically there is one common bond that numerous Batman fans agree on. They don't like how Bale does the raspy Batman voice. I have to admit, it took me a while to get used to. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Raile at August 12, 2008, 8:20 am | | Topic: The Dark Knight -Official Movie Thread Forum: Film Hobbit | | cheers for the info yeah that makes sense then.. as the IMAX stuff would be cropped. There is no way to get the aspect ratio of the IMAX stuff onto any TV's that I know of.. so that all confused me. That still sucks though. We will still miss out on a lot of the framing of the shots, but I guess that's what the IMAX theatre is for. | | Static Link |

All new TV's have a different aspect ratio then IMAX (as in they are of the widescreen variety, and Imax is more like a 4:3 oldschool TV). Is this going to letterbox the sides then? And if so, are the Cinemascope (35mm) shots not going to fill the TV screen (essentially letterboxing both the sides and top/bottom)? If the scope shots do fill the tv, then that means the IMAX shots will actually be smaller in total resolution then the scope shots. That doesn't make any sense. I'd rather have the 35mm version of the film on blueray do you have a link to this so I can read up on it? | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Into at August 11, 2008, 10:03 pm | | Topic: The Dark Knight -Official Movie Thread Forum: Film Hobbit | | Decided to save gas and time and watch it a second time in a regular theater nearby. It definitely holds up extremely well, and I was able to catch some stuff that I wasn't able to the first time. I did miss the IMAX scenes, though. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Volante at August 11, 2008, 9:01 pm | | Topic: The Dark Knight -Official Movie Thread Forum: Film Hobbit | | Oh it's gonna be a whole new experience in IMAX... Honestly, I'm concerned for the DVD release, there's a couple scenes that look like they were framed with the IMAX frame in mind...hope they go Abyss/Terminator 2/ID4 on us and seamless branch those scenes in. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Into at August 11, 2008, 4:56 pm | | Topic: The Dark Knight -Official Movie Thread Forum: Film Hobbit | | It'll drop out of theaters by very early September I think. At this point, it will stop making money in theaters. I still need to make it to IMAX for my second viewing..and FINALLY, all the good showtimes aren't selling out so damn quickly. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Rated X at August 11, 2008, 8:22 am | | Topic: The Dark Knight -Official Movie Thread Forum: Film Hobbit | | I see it making another 100 million at least. As long as it stays in the theaters until at least September. I think it's starting to lose a lot of steam being out for a month already. Of course I can't think of a whole lot coming out to challenge it other than Tropic Thunder. I am still surprised Pineapple Express didn't over take it. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Rated X at August 10, 2008, 3:06 pm | | Topic: The Dark Knight -Official Movie Thread Forum: Film Hobbit | | Well I am not eagerly anticipating the DVD release. I've seen it 5 times already in the theater and now I want the comfort of watching it in my own home. I just hate sitting in theaters. But for movies like this it makes it worth it. I'm just curious as to what is going to be on the DVD. | | Static Link |

But, I am the biggest Batman fan here(only other Batman film that is any good is Batman Begins all other films suck). Anyway, there is not a single moment of drag in the film. I have seen several movies in the past 6 or 7 times and usually after the 3rd or 4th viewing some scenes either drag on or become boring. That is noit the case here. Absolutely amazing. | | Static Link |
