This one time at the movies this little boy about 10 years old kept getting his Batman info wrong. He was saying how Batman Returns was the first one and that Batman Forever was the best one and he thinks Batman Begins was ok but was confusing because of the Joker card at the end. He said something along the lines of "They killed him in the first movie, how can he come back?" I wanted to turn around and smack him in the face for being so dumb. But my girlfriend was there and told me not to do it, he was only a little kid. No excuse if you ask me. Ya, Im a dick...

Oh I'm sure they're both smart guys. It's funny how people can be a little Forrest Gump-y in some areas, yet all Will Hunting-like in others. Me, for example, pretty comfortable with the writing and the speaking and the remembering of the English words and stuff, but if you wanna make me squirm, throw some numbers at me and ask me to do something involving percentages.

He's actually pretty smart in a lot of ways, but pretty clueless when it comes to remembering names correctly... He doesn't have the best pronunciation sometimes. Great with math and computers, but English not so good.

He was good in A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints. At the lineup at the video store the girls behind me were talking about the Matrix. One of them said "It sucked ass. I hate movies where you have to think."

I have to keep telling my parents and my sisters and brothers about movies because they keep giving me a blank stare everytime I try to explain a movie that I thought was good, then they decide to go for the most mindnumbingly stupid movie possible. Case in point INT - GROCERY STORE - DAY Sister Well, I want to get Premenition Me I hate Sandra Bullock. I know the movie's going to suck. Sister
aw, come on. It will be fun Me
Ok INT - SISTER'S HOUSE - DAY Premenition is playing in the background Me
I knew this would suck Sister
Hey, want to watch a lame Dane Cook Comedy Me
.... actually, I want to watch Fincher's new movie Sister ................(drool is running down the side of her cheek) That is a day in the life of watching movies with my sister.

Everytime im sitting at college and people are around me, they usually end up in movie discussions, and there always like "whats that one movie with the.....", and i'm always under my breath saying the movie their thinking of. Then after a couple of movies, one of their friends just figures it out, and i just smirk a little and go back to whatever i'm doing.....

I'm really glad I didn't say anything to her - I wouldn't have done that. It's just like sometimes you have to give people a break. I feel like Mario Van Pebbles is a lessor gaff than Myzeld. It's like laughing at someone for having barbecue sauce on their chin and you later realize you have a shit stain on the tail of your shirt.

I think I developed my own film snobbery during my four-year run at a local movie theater. We were an independent four-screen building that usually got either the good indie stuff that nobody had heard of, or the mainstream crap that nobody else wanted. I remember once I was working Saturday night of X2's opening weekend, so the place was not as busy as it could have been. This couple at the concession stand made note of this, and I replied, "Everyone's probably out seeing X-Men 2." "What's that?" Strike one. Apparently there's a fine real estate market for rocks in Milwaukee, as this lady had clearly crawled out from under one. (This was not a old couple, mind you...probably mid-30s at the oldest.) "That new movie based on the comic book." Her reply was a disinterested, "Oh, that's something my five-year-old would enjoy." The urge to either smack this woman or set her straight with the most forceful words available to me was more than a little tempting. This being one...

Sometimes...words just don't compute. You see it with your eyes and somehow, somewhere on the road up the synapses to the brain and back, it just doesn't click in right. A similar thing is when you say something, have the right thing in mind and yet, somehow, you say something else. Sometimes it's similar (meaning to say "Montomery Clift" and saying "Montgomery Ward" instead), sometimes it isn't. This aren't garden variety misstatements (like if someone asks you who died with Bowie and Travis at the Alamo and you say "Daniel Boone" rather than "Davy Crockett" because you just forget which one was which.) I mean actually thinking the right answer and triggering the "Go" code in your brain and having the damned hunk of gray gunk send a totally different word out your mouth, making you look like a dumbass in front of everyone within earshot. That's a real pisser for me.

Mario Van Pebbles? That honky grandma be trippin'! I try to walk an even line, that being confident (And yes, venturing into arrogance) about my stance on movies to know what I would and would not spend my time or money on. While at the same time, not bringing my perspective down on someone who's approach differs from my own. That being said, I think that a lack of said confidence/arrogance is detrimental to film quality as a whole. Example: Hambone Meathead: "Superhero Movie? Well these types of films never end up being very good, but it could be funny so might as well go push up it's box office numbers." People like me: "10,000 BC? Roland Emmerich movies don't age well, and Independance Day and Godzilla were dogshit. Pass!" I'm arrogant in the sense that I will only put forth an effort when I know I am proved wrong at a later time, and honestly I think it's better off that way. *Addition* To be more comparitive with your example, I always have to fight the urge whenever I overhear someo...

i like to listen to a lot of different people talk about how they felt or feel about movies and alot of times people dont take me serious.. but sometimes life is so hard u have to escape through a movie... people dont realize that thats what there actually doing. escaping reality........if we could understand people more and take the time to talk and discuss things we wouldnt have to escape so much but until then movies provide incouragment, hope, passion.. and so much more....i can tell u a million times walking past a movie. over again.. then finally watching it and saying WOW!!! that was great...now i watch alot of movies that i keep passing buy...what a treat......

Mario Van Pebbles... that's classic :P Anyway, yeah I sympathize - Like DaMovieMan I can't think of any specific examples right now, but I totally understand what you're getting at - when someone says something that's really wrong but it's not like a CRIME to make that mistake, so you really hold yourself back and don't correct him. Then again, when somebody makes a REALLY glaring mistake I feel compelled to correct them - like when people say "The Clockwork Orange" and not "A Clockwork Orange".

Arrogance is underrated, it only works when you really know what you're talking about though and the other side clearly hasn't a clue. Pebbles? Hahahaha, nice. Still though, I know what you mean, something comes along once in a while and nails you on the ground. I can't think of a specific incident to share now, but they're there, I'll be back with those when i remember

I know snobbery and arrogance bothers a lot of us on these boards, so I thought I'd share this story about it once backfiring on me because I think it's kind of funny. This might end up being totally pointless, but what the hey, hey, hey... Around 2000, always going into the video store, I'd see this movie on the shelf and in my head, pronounced it "Myz-eld" and never paid much more attention than that. One night I was at the store, looking at the videos, and this lady with maybe her teenage son or something were looking at movies and I hear her say, "Oh this one has Mario Van PEBBLES in it!" and in my head I'm rolling my eyes thinking, "It's PEEBLES, you fool!" Next thing I know, she picks up "Myz-eld" and says, "Misled? What's this about?" Sometimes you just pawn yourself. Know what I mean, Verne?
