I actualy liked the movie, but it started ALOT stronger then it ended, with each act a little bit less interesting and intense then the last. | | Static Link |

Had that movie just been the first hour, I would probably never shut up about my love for it. It's the opposite for me. Like with No Country for Old Men, the first 2/3 are great and just absolutely exquisite filmmaking. But it is the final act of both films that elevates them into something far beyond just being a good genre film, but something far more profound and affective. | | Static Link |

I know most people hated this movie, but am I the only one that thought the first half hour was AWESOME? Michael as a child killing everyone, those scenes were terrific. Then when he goes to the institution and grows up it goes downhill BIG TIME. | | Static Link |

Forum: JoBlo | | The only movie that at least recently has affected me that way would have to be Grindhouse. Rodriguez sets off such a great precedent and Tarantino doesn't really deliver. And Diary of the Dead, which "started off" being a Romero zombie movie, but ended up seeming like much less that the usual good flick. | | Static Link |

I was taking the movie so differently than it actually was for most of the runtime, but I enjoyed the flick I thought I was watching, so I felt disappointed when it turned out for not. 28 weeks later. Great beginning. Then military cliches overtook the story. Silent Hill too, I suppose. I'm a big fan of the earlier videogames in that series, so I was having a nerd of a time with the first half of the adaptation, warts and all. Then the humans came into the picture and just ruined everything with their jibberish. 8mm started off great. Can't think of any more right now. Great topic though. On the flipside, I wonder what movies started out bad, but later improved..? | | Static Link |

Trainspotting, which starts off brilliantly and with a bang and ends sort of eh... 28 Days Later, which is really great and moody and original in its realistic vision of a zombie-infested world... until it becomes a generic chase-oriented military-induced zombie movie in its 3rd act. Sunshine, which similarly to 28 Days Later starts out as a wonderfully executed, interesting and fresh take on an established genre (sci-fi) and by the 3rd act becomes a generic chase-oriented slasher movie. Also worth mentioning is a movie I saw today, Jane Campion's Holy Smoke, with Kate Winslet and Harvey Keitel. The movie starts out really great and the initial concept is excellent, but by the third act the movie just becomes way too weird and off-center for its own good, as the character transformations just don't make sense at all and everyone seems to just lose their mind. Even though the cinematography and the performances were top-notch all the way through. Another recent example is last year... | | Read Entire Entry |

I picks up again after that (though i'm not a fan of hte church speach, dunno it just bothers me) but Allessa's story jsut takes the steam right out of it. I have to also toss in my votes for the mentioned: Full Metal Jacket (the movie just changed completely after boot camp) Smoking Aces (barely anything really happens) | | Static Link |
