i've always rather liked Judge Dredd, its an entertaining flick with some nice action scenes, mostly pretty good acting and some good effects (always loved the robot). its just got a lot of problems, the script is silly, the plot could have been better and i've never liked the final scene of it which is something that always stands out as a negative for me. still its something that i can easily switch on whenever its on tv and have some fun 7/10

This movie had both good and bad points. The one thing that KILLED it for me was that for over 3/4 of the movie, Dredd is out of uniform- mainly, his helmet! In the comic they never reveal his face. I knew this wouldn't happen with Stallone, but it would've been nice. Also, I could have really done without the comic relief. Sure, the comic has comic relief in it too, but it's so warped that it fits. This didn't. On the plus side, I think Stallone did do his homework on the character of Dredd himself. The first time he shows up at the block wars and starts kicking ass, THAT'S Dredd. The uniform on film is something to behold. Even though I was against the "removing the helmet" thing, I did like his expressions in this movie. His eyes had a definite haunted look to them, and you can't beat the Dredd jutting jaw!!! All in all, I would give it a 6/10. I didn't hate it, but I don't watch it every day either. P..S: I heard that a possible sequel was in the works that would be more faithful to the comic b...

Another 90's flopper, that really shouldn't have flopped. I really liked the flick and it's a shame the serries didn't continue in the fashion of the comic. Stallone is dead on as Dredd, and this entry would really serve well as an origin to a Dredd serries. Bring em back, Sly! 7.5/10 Other notable 90's floppers- Congo, Eraser, Waterworld, Street Fighter

I personally loved this movie. It's so much fun. It looks great, who cares if it's another futuristic movie that takes it look from Blade Runner. It still looks great nonetheless. Infact, it looks better than Blade Runner IMO. The action sequences are exciting and a lot of fun. And the entire cast is fun. Stallone rocks as usual. Rob Schneider actually managed to not be annoying and even has a few funny moments here and there. Diane Lane looks great as usual. Max Von Sydow is great as Dredd's father figure. And Armand Assante gives a great, over the top performance. He has a lot of fun chewing that scenery and it's great fun watching him do so. It's a blast from start to finish. Definitely an underrated movie. 7/10

Leave it to Sylvester Stallone to mess up a sure thing..... My comic book to movie reviews just keep coming. Today's specimen; 1995's "Judge Dredd". "Judge Dredd" started its life as a small comic strip, running in a small British science-fiction fanzine as part of a small fan-made comics section. Generally regarded as a simple weekly strip, and not a potentially large scale comic book character Dredd was relegated to the back pages of a magazine few people knew of and even fewer read. It took a few years, and a change in ownership as well as artistic direction for Dredd to really take off. Originally envisioned as a horror character in a futuristic New York City (the idea was originally called Judge Dread) it took inspiration from a then popular movie to create a final (and ultimately cohesive) look for Dredd. Based on the character of "Frankenstein" in Paul Bartel's cult classic action/spoof/vehicular homicide glorifying "Death Race 2000" (a movie, which, oddly enoug...
