Although the end was dissappointing, I think it's one of the greatest horro movies of the 2000s. Darabont is a great director and the one who has better adapted Stephen King. Really great movie, great moments, great jokes and great characters (the one performed by Marcia Gay Harden was awesome).

I know I'd rather eat a bullet than be painfully ripped apart and devoured by A) Giant lobster thing B) Giant tentacle thing C) Giant...walking thing D) Giant pterodactyl thing, etc, etc... Seeing things from their perspective (Curses to Durabont for assuming the audience could accomplish this much) the options were pretty slim, and hope was in even shorter supply, so all things considered I really don't see any course of action being more realistic than the one in the film.

Good film but overhyped, i was expecting something more.....realistic? I couldn't buy those creatures at all because the CGI was pretty awful. I admit that the idea is interesting and if i was forced to come up with an explanation that is down-to-earth about unbelievable creatures i would come up with something like in the movie, military fucking up basically. There were moments when the characters annoyed me coz they did nothing but scream and stay in place, paralyzed from fear was what i told my friend who didn't like it either, but it still looks awkward on film. The whole religious subplot with the crazy lady was gold, very well done. The ending was pretty shocking but i had the misfortune of already knowing what's gonna happen before watching the film. I think the ending is what makes people go apeshit for the film. Still, good stuff over all and Thomas Jane was solid as the lead. Always nice to Pembelton on film as well 7/10

If you think it would be a good idea to go out into the Mist at the end, then you haven't been paying attention for the past 2 hours. Seriously. Mist=bad. There are things worse than death out there, and anytime someone takes more than five teps into it they're eaten alive, or made host to thousands of baby spiders. And the giant behemoth just proved to them that they havent even seen the worst of it.

SPOILERS!!! Finally, someone who knows how to make a really good horror movie. This was definitely worth the wait even though I still wish I had seen it in theaters. Strong writing and characters, solid acting, great setting and atmosphere, excellent direction, tension to spare and a few genuine scares. The Mist has all of that, and it results in one of the best horror movies in years (at the very least). I'm sure I have nothing to add that hasn't already been said about this one. The James Wan's and Darren Lynn Bousman's and Eli Roth's and Rob Zombie's of the world wish they knew how to make a horror movie like Frank Darabont. Darabont doesn't get overly fancy with the camera. He doesn't resort to boo scares and quick-cutting and oppressive sound. He doesn't throw gore at the screen for a cheap shock or rub our faces in it. It enhances the story and is meant to horrify, which it does. Just an all-around excellent horror flick with a serious gut-punch of an ending. I'll be feeling that one for a while. Talk ...

Another little nitpick I have is how the theme of human nature is being presented, and how, if you will let me get a little corny, "we are the monsters afterall" - a very decent viewpoint, and the film didn't necessarily fail at putting this across at all. That being said, the characters (while enjoyable) were very extreme. You have the crazy religious woman and her band of born-again sheep on one side who the audience is automaticaaly supposed to root against, and then you have the extremely good guys on the other side. All of them were fairly typical, and I understand that it's totally normal to have a protagonist and an antagonist - it's just that I wanted to see the ugly side to more of them. If that makes sense. Maybe it doesn't.

I enjoyed this. But some of the dialouge was a bit bad and the theatre can't allign a projector so the top of everybody's head was basically cut off, but that's how it goes. Any way, I think this'll be a lot better in B and W. The effects might blend better and set a tone

Yeah the reasons the neighbor didn't go look weren't valid at all and took away from the story. A few things didn't fit within the context of the movie and jarred me out of it. The neighbor, the religious lady was way too over the top to be believable, and some of the events that happen in the attacks. Spoilers The ending wasn't so hot. It was just a shock ending that didn't work for me. Honestly they drove for hours in the mist without much incid...

It made no sense, and I cant help but feel it was just tacked on for the shock value. What do you mean they had no hope left? They could have waited and hoped somebody would rescue them or it would pass; perhaps dying of hunger, but still having hope and waiting it out to the very end. Or they could have walked on foot and HOPED that they'd make it, perhaps they would (we now know they would), the fact is they all gave up. And Jane's character took their lives into his own hands which is as wrong as what the crazy religious freak did. You guys are missing the main point with the ending. SPOLIERS His son made him promise that he wouldnt let the monsters get him, thats another reason why he killed everyone, including his son. after seeing that big creature added to everything that already happened, it seemed like it was all over. The giant monster was a sign of no hope
