It was well worth it. Plenty of great and fun characters, after all - it is Tarantino, lots of tense and suspenseful scenes - particularly the Walken/Hopper scene. And how could I not mention the final shootout scene . . . DAMN!!! Good times, good times. Got to hand it to Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette for leading the way in this movie. Love the characters, ALL the appearances by recognizable actors, the direction, and when all is said and done . . . the movie. 8/10 | | Static Link |

It has Sam Jackson like very other tarantino movie except a few and what i think the beset cast they could ever put together for this movie. I give it a 10/10. Plus you can show this to your girlfriend when she says she wants to see a love story. I did to mine and she lvoed. I would recommend it to any person who loves action movies or love stories. | | Static Link |

This flick is truly just plain kickass. Funny, violent, smart, sexy, and a little on the sweet side. Christian Slater is so underrated its unbelievable. Patricia Arquette is so cute and that scene with Walken and Hopper is one of my top ten coolest scenes ever! See True Romance. | | Static Link |

Hallelujah. 6.5/10 for me. Just not what I expected. Tarantino's dialogue seemed too pretentious. He thinks it's funny (like PF's), but it actually isn't. It was great, sure, but everyone is always saying its an automatic 10. I really liked it- 8/10- and I need a rewatch, but it didn't blow me away as expected. | | Static Link |

Directed by- Tony Scott Starring- Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette I’d like to apologize ahead of time for all the (there will be many) G.U.M errors that will be in this. People are always asking me for movie recommendations. Usually I’ll get real pumped by this, (besides sex, talking about movies is the high point of my life) I’ll sit them down, and say “Well, what kind of movie do you want to see?” whereupon they’ll say “A real good movie.” Immediately I’ll blurt out True Romance, but alas they usually don’t jump on it so easily, now they want to get specific, they’ll say “A real good action flick.” “True Romance.” “I want a great love story too.” “True Romance.” “I’d like a movie that feels different from everything else.” “True Romance.” (And here’s where they start getting a little peeved) “It should have an all star cast!” “True Romance.” “I want a movie that makes me feel good at the end, I don’t want a downer.” “Again, True Romance.” (At this point I’m... | | Read Entire Entry |

All the actors and actresses involved shine as well as the grisly dark plot that takes the viewer on its fucked up twisted view of two people in love. Great movie | | Static Link |

You tell the angels in heaven you never seen evil so singularly personified as you did in the face of the man who killed you." I've read that line in JoBlo's profile and I wondered who could pull it off and now I know - only one man, Christopher Walken. I'm cursing myself for not watching it earlier as I am a big fan of Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs. Firstly, the cast is spectacular.. Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Christopher Walken, James Gandolfini, Brad Pitt, Dennis Hopper, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Sizemore, Val Kilmer.. Every scene, there was someone instantly recognizable and they all put in great performances. The dialogue was top-notch, what do you expect from Tarantino? There was a homage to old school Kung-fu movies which the two lead characters loved and many of the fight scenes are filmed in a similar way.. stylish and slick. And the ending was staggering.. similar to Reservoir Dogs but on a larger scale and... | | Read Entire Entry |

| Posted by: Jim H at February 13, 2003, 2:27 am | | Topic: True Romance (10/10) Forum: JoBlo | | "Nice to see his nod to HK films by showing A Better Tomorrow II in one of the scenes " Bit of a trivia note, after A Better Tomorrow was released, many dressed as Mark Gor (or Mark Lee, whatever you want to call him - Gor means brother in Cantonese, he's a Brother kind of like a Godfather is a Godfather) with the duster jacket and shades and white button shirt. Quentin did this, so it's only natural he had a reference to HK films in his movies. Also of note is that Reservoir Dogs is a very obvious remake of City on Fire, another Chow Yun-Fat vehicle. The clothes they all wear in the robbery are also from the end sequence of A Better Tomorrow 2 (one of the most legendary gunfights in cinema, and also where the scene in True Romance takes place). True Romance was very good, but I would not put it above Pulp Fiction. My second favorite QT movie. The scene with Dennis Hopper is one of the best ever. | | Static Link |

Wow, that almost actually broke my heart.. It's such a nice love story, isn't it? Good supporting roles: Gary Oldman and Val Kilmer. | | Static Link |

I probably wouldn't have seen it if it wasn't for him. I watched it today and I must say I really enjoyed it. I've always liked Patricia Arquette and she looked excellent in this movie. I don't have much to say other than it's a pretty damn entertaining flick. Grade: 7/10 (B) | | Static Link |

I can still watch 'TRUE ROMANCE' knowing every line and be taken into Tarantino's mind as this caper wrote itself whenever he worked in a video store before he became the shit to Hollywood. Just plain cool, gritty cool, it would be fun to be this cool, no? Elvis. Clarence and Alabama Worley. Rockabilly meets the Mob. Drugs 'n' guns and blood in between, baby! Brad Pitt probably really got stoned in this film. | | Static Link |

| Posted by: Dehydrator at December 13, 2001, 6:54 am | | Topic: True Romance (10/10) Forum: JoBlo | | I'd rank TRUE ROMANCE 9/10, equally to PULP FICTION. It's my fav. Tarrantino flick by far ( it used to be PULP FICTION but after every silly sucker on my school had seen it and quoted it all day long, it shortly became my most-hated Tarrantino movie. It's great though!). True Romance has everything that is Tarrantino, and it works better than RESERVOIR DOGS, I think. The characters are sympathic, the violence is harsh and the dialogue is funny. And it has Elvis. I hate Elvis, but that angle was cool in the movie. Dennis Hopper & Christopher Walken act the shit out of each other here, that's actually my favorite scene in the whole movie. Arquette isn't exactly my favorite actress ( I thought she sucked mightily in BRINGING OUT THE DEAD ) but it's definitely the best performace of hers I've ever seen. So yes, I wish that TRUE ROMANCE would be remembered as the ultimate Tarrantino Classic. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: One at December 12, 2001, 11:00 pm | | Topic: True Romance (10/10) Forum: JoBlo | | How can you give this film anything but a 10? Written by Tarantino, directed by Tony Scott, one hell of a cast, sex, drugs, and Elvis. Seeing as Patricia Arquette is my favorite actress, I may be a little bias, but nonetheless... This movie has everything you could want, the previously mentioned attributes and great music too. Also the movie is the most perfectly cast movie I've ever seen. Every actor is perfect for their part. Personally, I think Gary Oldman does the best job as a 'wigger' pimp. But everyone is just so damn good its hard to say just one. Im sure a lot of you have seen it, but if you havent, I beg you please see it. You will never regret the two hours of your life that you'll never get back, for it was used watching one of the best movies ever made! Easy 10/10 for me! One of my personal top 5 of all time. | | Static Link |
