I was worried about it. Never shall i question Criterion. I was surprised to see that the covers are exactly the same, even the emblems. I was expecting this... Also: The blu-ray's really don't have much to offer in terms of exclusives. They are exactly the same, the only difference are web-exclusive essays. I'm pissing my pants with excitement for Chungking Express, The Last Emperor, The Third Man, The Man Who Fell to Earth and Bottle Rocket. Shit, i'm exited about all of them (especially Chungking Express). I admire that the blu-ray's are the same price as the standard DVD. These are going to be gorgeous. | | Static Link |

Might go crazy and get the Blu-Ray. Who knows. Never liked Bottle Rocket, so I don't care much about that. Fanfan La Tulipe actually seems cool to me, though, just because I like those swashbuckling sorts of movies. I'm still waiting for Marienbad...and a few other things... | | Static Link |

Also, with the upcoming release of White Dog, hopefully gets announced very soon, I know Naked Kiss, and Shock Corridor have been very highlly rumored to be coming for a re-release too, so maybe a Samuel Fuller box or something. Also, I don't think its needed at all, but a Chasing Amy re-release is supposedly in the works last I heard. | | Static Link |

We must keep this tread alive and kicking Sam! Any rumours on what re-issues could be on the way? I read that The 39 Steps could be getting an upgrade a la Lady Vanishes last year. Alphaville is also a good possibility for the end of the year when the announcements hit. Personally I'd like to see them re-acquire the rights to Clouzot's Le Corbeau and Quai des Orfevres. | | Static Link |

But yeah, its died down a little, and its sad that the middle of every month, when new releases are announced or the newsletter comes out, I usually have to dig this out of the second page. | | Static Link |

Probably ranks #2 in terms of my favorite Godard films. As for La Haine, I would check it out for Vincent Cassel's performance alone, but all three leads put in great performances. | | Static Link |

I have been wanting to check out La Haine for a while now. Glad to hear you liked it. I ordered Ace in the Hole and Days of Heaven with the DDD sale around the 22nd or 23rd. Both were back ordered but i still havent heard anything since, so i guess they havent even shipped them yet. I just hope they both come in before i head back to college on the 15th. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: PSUDelVec at August 4, 2008, 1:31 pm | | Topic: The Official Criterion Thread: Release Dates,Rumors,News,Collections And More Forum: JoBlo | | I picked up La Haine and Band of Outsiders from the Deep Discount BOGO. I would have been less conservative and gotten a few more if my tax refund came before the sale ended. Damn. In terms of shipping, both DVDs started off as back-orders, but it only took La Haine a day maybe to ship and I got it last week. Band of Outsiders didn't ship until sometime last week and it hasn't arrived just yet. I was completely blown away by La Haine when I first saw it in college for my French Cinema class, so I jumped on the opportunity to grab it. I haven't seen Band of Outsiders yet, but I knew I wanted to grab a Godard flick. Having seen Pierrot Le Fou and Alphaville within the past month, I wanted to go for something that wasn't so recently in my mind. Alphaville kind of underwhelmed me in terms of its packaging, to the point of believing it is due to be repackaged by Criterion. And although I like a lot of Godard's work, I was completely underwhelmed by Breathless the two times I've seen it. | | Static Link |

Last day to get in on it! Here's what we snagged: Rules of the Game The Furies Children of Paradise Breathless Stranger Than Paradise Nights of Cabiria Onibaba Classe Tous Risques Band of Outsiders and one more I can't remember because my friend placed the order! =) | | Static Link |
