SPOILER WARNING! This Youtube vid has pretty decent shots of the monster. This is actual footage not images or fake crap. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImfXJwtDT2I p.s. I do not endorse pirating. This video is strictly for those who just want to see what the monster looked like.

My son has a pet ferret, and towards the end when they show how the monster 'walks' (with it`s two big front legs), it kept reminding me of how a ferret walks! Thats actauly a pretty good picture of what i got of it. This thing makes Godzilla look like a puppy dog. really freaky and actualy made me afraid for the people it was chasing.

Was pretty bored by the film in all. At one point I checked my watch (must have been bored) and an hour had gone by with little action or event. When you did get glimpses of the monster they were dissappointingly brief - I know this is supposed to be 'realistic' but atleast focus on the fuckin creature for a little longer. At some points the handheld camera worked well but other times it was just annoying. I don't want to watch a blurry screen not having a clue what's going on. The cast also werent anything special, they were ok not good.... 6/10

I really liked the movie as well, I didnt think the shaky cam was that bad. There were some really intense scenes, especially in the subway and when they got on the helicopter watching the monster get bombed and then crashing. Speaking of the monster, what did everyone think? I thought it was badass and I loved the way they teased throughout the movie until near the end but my question is, what the fuck was it?

I saw the movie last night and I have to say I loved it. Now I'm NOT a fan of "shaky-cam" (i thought it ruined a good fight scene in The Bourne Ultimatum) but in this movie, where we basically are watching a camcorder of an event in a group of people's lives, it makes sense that its gonna shake and be out of focus and get a shot of the ground sometimes...so if you can't deal with that then this isn't the movie for you. Not to give anything away but there were people at the theater complaining about the ending, it seems they like it when everything is explained to them...and again if you need that don't see this movie. It plops you in the middle of people's lives right when shit goes crazy and it becomes about survival, and to me, not much more needs to be explained than that....again, I thought it was great, but thats just my opinion...

Good movie - hell of a thrill ride. Call it the Blair Godzilla Witch Project. Bit of advice: if you are a person who becomes easily dizzy and succumbs to nausea, be prepared. Do not sit in the front 3-4 rows like I did. I have a strong stomach and I have never gotten dizzy watching a movie before. But this was did it to me. The camera is almost NEVER still...unless someone sits it down. Just from the opening shot alone - a very very basic shot - I immediately starting feeling a bit sick. So be ready...bring some dramamine But it's a fun movie - you'll be talking along with the audience.

Bear in mind that`s a crappy cameraphone picture - and it`s only the creature`s face, not the whole thing. I`m pretty sure it`s from the perspective of someone standing underneath it looking up at it.......and probably about to get eaten!

Here is a little quote from a review I just read: "Cinematography is, unfortunately, terrible in this film. Most of it seems to have been shot on hand held video camera or something - the perspective wobbles and shakes around, robbing audiences of the true horrors they experienced in their livingrooms on 9/11. On that day, tourists and camera crews at least had the presence of mind to hold the cameras still. If you enjoyed 9/11 as much as MSNBC, Fox News, CNN and Rupert Murdoch did, then this film is still going to be a treat." No shit! It is suppoused to be on a handheld camera! That is what the entire movie is about! Here is the full review link: http://www.brainsnap.com/film_review...erfield_review

I dont think the hype around Rambo is 1/10th the amount around Cloverfield, yet I'd rather see Rambo from previews alone. I'm not saying Cloverfield is going to suck because obviously I have no clue and it could be the best movie ever. I'm just saying I dont understand the hype from that preview.

Hmmm, it doesn't look like it's shaping up like that at all to me. This one looks like it's going to have real action and money shots, which Blair Witch did not. Aside from the style of filmmaking, I think they're going to be two totally different movies. But anyway, let us know what you think.

I believe the reason this isn't a spring or summer release is because they want to avoid all competition from any potentially "big" films that could even resemble this one (action or sci-fi related). I think they (smartly) just chose a month generally known for being very slow. As the_sneaker said, it could pay off... Cloverfield could really make some big bucks this coming weekend. I'm just speculating of course. No offense, but I hope you're eating crow by the end of the week, because I'm pulling for the movie to be good. Keeping expectations in check, though.
