God forbid any actual quality story telling happen in this cartoon world. We might actually have a few moments like Empire did where the story was so good, it drew audiences into those moments. Then again, that doesn't seem likely. I expect little from this series and I'm sure I'll get it. | | Static Link |

Forum: JoBlo | | I don't think there'd be as many complaints if this was just a tv series. .... which, if i'm not mistaken, it is. It's kinda like complaining about the production values of the Battlestar Galactica Razor movie that was shown in theaters. That said, why not make a series about a different moment in Star Wars? as mentioned before, there's already a series based on this. Not to mention, it just isn't that interesting. Why not make a bunch of new characters and THEIR adventures? Something a little less epic, and a little more like the first film? How about that, George? | | Static Link |
| Posted by: gspawn at May 11, 2008, 10:52 am | | Topic: star wars:clone wars. Forum: JoBlo | | This looks like complete and utter crap- and I know someone is going to haul out the tired "uncanny valley" argument. That's not it. This is just crap animation. This whole thing looks like it's just a terrible Poser cartoon from the 90s, just like all the Star Wars fan cartoons that were made during that era. In fact, a fairly well-known project called "Tripping the Rift" already did this whole 3d animation based on Star Wars thing, only did it earlier and much better, and it's really sad to see a Lucas production being beaten out by a comedy series that started off mostly as a lampoon of Star Wars in the first place. I just can't believe people can look at this crap and say it looks remotely like a good idea- I know that I suck at 3d animation because I actually tried Poser once upon a time. But even given my complete lack of talent, I could have done a better job on this project given the funding these people probably had. And for everyone's information, no this does NOT look like a vi... | | Read Entire Entry |
| Posted by: KcMsterpce at May 10, 2008, 1:38 pm | | Topic: star wars:clone wars. Forum: JoBlo | | It looks terrible. They almost played the trailer like a foreign film, where most of the actors don't talk - unless it's English from non-key players. Sam Jackson has a line and Yoda talks (like a dumbass again, instead of mixing the grammar a bit like they did in EMPIRE). But the others (Anakin and Obi-Wan) don't get much - or ANY - air time because they're probably trying to keep it quiet for fans who might be turned off by the new actors. On top of that, we already had a Clone Wars series in 2003. How about a change? The animation looks fucking horrible. I didn't even like the 2003 series. It was 2 minutes of shitty dialog and 10 minutes of bad fighting scenes. Repeat. My interest for this movie, on a scale of one to ten is: 2 | | Static Link |
| Posted by: GodMagnus at May 10, 2008, 11:19 am | | Topic: star wars:clone wars. Forum: JoBlo | | As long as the movie is enjoyable i'll be happy. Tha animation style is interesting, not really good, but interesting all things considered. I really don't consider a CGI movie that doesn't "push the bar further" to have less potential to be a great movie. CGI has lost it's novelty as it is, i'm actually getting bored of it. Almost ANY movie company can make a CGI film these days. One thing i'd like to know is who are the VA's for this movie? I can tell that C3P0, R2D2, Palpatine and Yoda are the same voices as the other films, and it does sorta sound like Sam Jackson as Mace, but I have no idea who is Obi-wan or Anakin for the voice actors. | | Static Link |

Is every computer animated film supposed to be 10 steps above the last to be considered good? I agree it looks a little to stiff but it still passes as watchable in my eyes. Put down on the list of people who want to see it. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Monotreme at May 10, 2008, 5:34 am | | Topic: star wars:clone wars. Forum: JoBlo | | Yeah, so I saw the trailer and I have to say... I can't believe they're actually releasing this to theatres. The animation is really, really, REALLY bad. It really does look like a video-game, with pixellated surface skins, bulky and awkward movements, and more. Direct to TV? I'd give it a pass. But releasing this in THEATRES? Have they no shame? | | Static Link |

Forum: JoBlo | | http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/180999...tandardformat/ Yahoo added the full length trailer, I gotta say the animation doesn't look very good espescially Anakin who I think looks really stupid, but other than that it looks like it could be really cool. | | Static Link |

| Posted by: Monotreme at May 8, 2008, 7:34 am | | Topic: star wars:clone wars. Forum: JoBlo | | This could actually be really, really cool. Tartakovsky's Star Wars: Clone Wars micro-series from back in 2003 was awesome in so many ways, and if this movie/subsequent TV show are any similar, they will be good. Unfortunately Tartakovsky isn't involved in this movie but it looks to be in a very similar style to his traditionally animated cartoon (except that this time it's CGI). It also looks like many of the storylines and characters (Asajj, etc) are present, so the more the movie has in common with the original cartoons, the more potential it has to be really great. I'm hoping Lucas won't fuck this one up! | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Shockwave at May 8, 2008, 7:24 am | | Topic: star wars:clone wars. Forum: JoBlo | | Id actualy rather see Dooku throw down like he did in the cartoon. He whomped both GG ansd Ventress and was very under-used in the movies. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Luke-Abbott at May 7, 2008, 6:04 pm | | Topic: star wars:clone wars. Forum: JoBlo | | Hell, I'll watch it. My only gripe is it seems like they're trying to forget the 2D versions exisited by remaking it in 3D and giving Anakin a padawan (is he capable of teaching someone the ways of the force while he too is being taught at the same time?). But, it does look good and I'm glad it actually LOOKS like a Star Wars film even with Warner Bros. taking over. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Eric Flatpack at May 7, 2008, 5:06 pm | | Topic: star wars:clone wars. Forum: JoBlo | | I'm kinda on the fence. I like Star Wars as a series but i cant see why anyone would want to go and see the clone wars between what were 2 dissapointing films. Revenge of the Sith was alright but my overall impression was that people came away dissapointed probably because of I and II. | | Static Link |

| Posted by: biff_debris at February 13, 2008, 5:57 am | | Topic: star wars:clone wars. Forum: JoBlo | | I'm kind of on the fence about how it looks. On the one hand I think it's neat that a lot of stylization is involved, since I don't want a "human replica" look like Beowulf seemed to have (no, still haven't seen it), but on the other I'm expecting something more from Lucas. Maybe I just need to see more. | | Static Link |

Chris Lees parts in the movies were almost painful in how little he was in each one. I wanted so much more from that character. At least he kicked the shit out of Ventress and GG in the cartoons. | | Static Link |
