Tarantino is notorious for babbling on about his dream future projects and what he wants to do with his films (remember the Vega Brothers? and the multitude of Kill Bill pre-sequels), authors he adapted (Forty Lashes would of been gold, yes.) and childhood movies (all these exploitation flicks, war movies etc.) and so on. I imagine him like a kid who always dreamt of eating a candy and he suddenly finds himself owning a chain of candy shops and he can't stop talking about all the ideas he has for the development and re-distribution of the candies he loved to have had as child. It's all just that, ideas, until production gets underway. The problem is the child is on hard core drugs, there's no doubt in my mind that he's on coke and e with alcohol and pot being like second nature to him. Like Kahuna says, as long as it doesn't get in his way of making awesome movies that's fine by me, he can do what he wants. Whatever his next movie will be, I'm there. What I don't understand is why so many people pay attention to what he says at any other time than when he is actually in the process of filmmaking, pimping said film to the press, or maybe on a DVD feature. I could care less otherwise. The first analogy that comes to mind is when musicians, for example, talk about politics. I don't care. Play your music. That is what your merit to me is based on, not your world view, although you are welcome to your opinion. Just like everyone else. As for drug use, I would hope that he is smarter than that, but one never knows. Addiction can be a slippery slope into a hole that's hard to get out of. That goes for everyone, not just the famous. Beyond that, I could care less what drugs he does as long as it doesn't impede his job. Making movies. Nothing fucks up a career like a terminal overdose. I can't totally explain it, but FatSak, you say he hasn't made a good movie since Jackie Brown, but Kill Bill Vol. 2 was a close call.... What I'm getting at is that he's essentially made 2 movies since Jackie Brown. Kill Bill and Death Proof. He made 3 movies you consider great, then 2 movies that were homage flicks, and therefore you didn't like. I suppose what I'm not getting is that his filmography is still more-for-the-better, even splitting Kill Bill, he's shooting .50 --- The part that sort of gets me though.... Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown are in a large part homage films themselves.
