Burt and Gleason lookin' fine! And hell... you got me thinkin' again, I haven't watched this since I did this review... it's high time I put on my "good ol' boy" pants and grab a frosty Coors... I mean, even the most asinine film can be appealing if it doesn't take itself too seriously, and Reynolds and Gleason really do an amazing job of just having fun and not caring what anyone thinks. "Smokey" is pure entertainment, through and through | | Static Link |

Mindless entertainment yes, but insulting to the intelligence NO.(unlike the retarded GONE IN 60 Seconds remake) Great review Brock as usual, this fim certainly delivers what it promises, nothing more, certainly nothing less. | | Static Link |

Hey bra, I just tell it like it is, in fact I thought I'd probably get reamed for this one, but I really believe that "Smokey and the Bandit" is as important to circa-1970's cinema as films like "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest", "Taxi Driver", "Deliverance", etc... I don't mean that it's as phenomenal as those films in the acting department, but it is certainly a true film "classic". It made Burt Reynolds career at the time, and is about one of the funnest and most entertaining films I have ever seen. Sure the times have changed and it has lots of racial and sexual slurs in it, but if "Blazing Saddles" is a classic film, which I think it is, than "Smokey" is right there with it. I mean, Burt Reynolds was just as cool as Paul Newman, Robert Redford, Jon Voight or John Travolta those days (not quite a... | | Read Entire Entry |

Justice: "Duck, or you'll be talkin' out your ass." Basically, Burt Reynolds IS the Bandit, a full of himself, macho hombre who never turns down a bet. He's the best and he knows it. Big Enos and Little Enos find him at the truck races one day and offer him $80,000 to move 400 cases of Coors beer across state lines, which is illegal i.e. "bootlegging", from Texarkana to Georgia in 20-some-odd hours. The Bandit is the best and he's never been beat, so he accepts. He gets his buddy Cledus (Jerry Reed) to drive the semi-truck, and buys himself the Banditmobile with a cash advance from midget and the fatman. They go to buy the beer, the beer distributor is closed, they help themselves to 400 cases (that's 9,600 beers, enough for 26 beers a day for a year!) and take off for Georgia. Pretty soon after that, the bandit stops and picks up Carrie (Sally Field), who's wearin... | | Read Entire Entry |
