Reign of Fire: I saw this listed above, I think this is definitely a decent movie considering the context. Bale rules all ass. Alien 3: I don't get it, I think this movie is pretty cool. Cable Guy: I like Carrey a lot and I thought it was a breath of fresh air from the ass talking and the "alrighty then" that was being stuffed into my ears not only from the films but from every kid at my school, my parents, my teachers. Forum: JoBlo | | It's all in the eye of the beholder, but anyhow, here is my list; Spiceworld (sin, I know, SIN) Buffy The Vampire Slayer (I saw it at the cinema when I was 10 or 11 years of age, and while I now see ALL of it's corniness, nostalgia prevents me from hating it) The Haunting remake (granted I didn't LOVE it, but it was some of the visuals that made it stand out to me, ie. the interior design of the house with the mirrors, cherubs, the enormous fireplaces and such) Sliver (goofy sex scenes abound, but I'd rather my rumpy-pumpy goofy rather than flat out disgusting) Hook (I am another who doesn't get the extraordinary hatred this film gets.) Dracula, Dead and Loving It (I love my Dracula films for the most part to be atmospheric, cerebral and true to a few facets of the book if not all, but I am not one of those puritans who bagged this lil' gem of Mel Brooks and co.) Well, a fellow schmoe took exception to my listing it as one of the worst I own and demanded that I explain myself. It forced me to reconsider the movie. I still think it's bad. However, Norton did create a very funny and lovable character completely unique to him. And when I do occassionally watch it, I still laugh and giggle at certain things - the cookies, the American History X referrence, among many others little things. Death to Smoochy is much hated and ridiculed, and yet I, along with my close circle of friends, find it to be one of the most brilliantly, outrageously hilarious movies in recent memory. We have something of a cult surrounding it and have watched it many times. The same thing goes with Scary Movie 3. Many people ridiculed the film and dismissed it as just as crass and low-brow as the previous two (agreeably bad) Scary Movies. But the 3rd one, directed by the Zuckers, was, in my opinion, just as good as their classics like Airplane!, The Naked Gun and Hot Shots!. Combining parody with absolutely ridiculous but equally brilliant random humour that makes so little sense that's what makes it so good. | | Static Link |

I can understand why it sticks out like a sore thumb for 99. Tons of long takes, spare closeups, the only sex shown is a disgusting orgy, confusing plot, references and in-jokes you have to either figure out on your own or read about somewhere else, etc etc. But all in all I think it's actually a pretty damn good movie...and the more I think about it, the more I respect it.
