A couple examples: Scary movie got a great performance at the box offices and at video and dvd sales and it got one of the worst scripts ever. Another, and possibly clearer example:
Titanic!!!!!: 1-It is the most awarded movie in history (tied with Ben Hur).
2-Titanic got pretty much all the technical Oscars, including best direction.
3-The movie make over 1800 million dolars worldwide.
4-Now raise hands all who think it got a great script????????
Remember that this year Good Will Hunting won the script category and this doesn't affect Titanic overall. We agree that a good script movie is important, but sometimes this got nothing to do with how much the movie likes to the audience. | | Static Link |

</font> Oh, I do agree with you on that. Vertical Limit is one of the worst movies of the year, but definitely not the worst. Think about it, Battlefield Earth? | | Static Link |

It's got a crappy plot, that's true, but the script is not always everything in a film. (If you don't trust me there wil be not Episode II in Star Wars). I think that technically the movie wans't that bad. </font> So what your saying basically is that just because the movie had "good" effects (which I personally think were crap) it completely overruns the script? Isn't script the most important thing overall anyway? If you don't have an interesting story or script, what chance is there that the movie is going to be anything interesting, mysterious or a work or quality? | | Static Link |

It was amazingly boring, completely ridiculous - the wife in the ice, I don't think I've ever laughed so hard - the whole movie wasn't exciting and I just wanted all the characters to die up there on the K2. Especially that blonde bitch. A horrible film, one of 2000's worst. VERTICAL LIMIT - 3/10 | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Zed at December 11, 2001, 12:04 pm | | Topic: Vertical Limit (7/10) Forum: JoBlo | Vertical Limit A good script movie? No.
A good acting movie? No.
A good action movie? Yes. I think the previous three questions can sumarize what “Vertical Limit” is.
This flick, directed by Martin Campell (Mark of Zorro, Goldeneye) is the kind of movie you most see when you want to distract yourself (without thinking much) for two hours.
The direction pass the test, specially in the action secuence where the special effects and the actors make a good combination.
The acting is not the best in the film. My first pick will be Robin Tunney, followed by Montgomery Wick. By the way, Bill Paxton made a lousy millionaire villain.
My last good point about the movie…..the cinematography. The movie got some excellent shots hidden between a poor plot. My final grade: 7 / 10 for keep me awake while I was watching it. | | Static Link |
