This is strange considering I am not a big Gwyneth Paltrow fan. Her performance was of a high standard throughout the movie. I thought the premise of the movie was refreshing. I am led to believe this movie did not do that well at the US box office which was a shame considering they probably use Paltrow (a US actress) for US box office draw. I prefered Sliding Doors. It was a great film, extremely underrated and Gwyneth Paltrow was fabulous. This movie was funny, heartbreaking, romantic, interesting and took a very normal idea and turned it into something of extraordinary originiality and power. Gotta agree with your grade of 8/10. I really liked the John Hannah charactor.
He was cool/goofy/whitty/charming and still looked like your everyday chap.
i also likes the way that the makers were brave enough to have a unexpected ending.
I also loved the chap in the pub who could not stop himself from laughing at the main a-holes predecament.

I had never seen it so a few months ago after reading Joblo's review for it I decided to check it out and I'm really glad I did. It was a very good romance movie that more people should see. It's not everyday you see an original romance movie and Sliding Doors is just that, an original, funny, sweet romantic comedy. Gwyneth Paltrow is GREAT and charming as ever in this movie. Her and her character are irresistible and we really care about her and sypathize with her. If you haven't seen it definately check it out. I really don't have any complaints about it, it's highly enjoyable. Grade: 8/10 | | Static Link |
