it was an above average comedy movie,as like i said i dont like too much of the modern comedy....given jack black was in it,he basically made this better then what it would have been if he wasnt in it....i give it a 6/10

Given the genre, I thought it was fair. As a big fan of Jack Black's cable stuff and previous supporting roles (he made a dull Jackal role somewhat memorable), I know he is capable of much more.

I tried to laugh really hard because I love the Farrelly Brothers, but I just couldn't. Some things were funny, but it was tough to take the way the audience is supposed to laugh at an obese women, as if these people don't have enough problems, now there's a very very public movie that wants us to laugh at a women who breaks a steel chair or eats a Humongous wedge of chocolate cake (as if all obese people eat like that). I dunno, I guess if I had been thin all my life then I could probably laugh at the ironically "shallow" gags and jokes, but I just couldn't. Then on the other hand, the movie wants you to identify with Rosemary and identify with her pain on some level and, and its nice for a Hollywood movie to finally do that for once so I don't see how all those involved with the making of the movie could ask you to feel for this woman and then laugh at her at the same time. This movie is just a huge contradiction. I get the message "Don't judge appearances," but I felt the movie exploit...

Anyway, when I watched it Tuesday night I was torn between a 7/10 and an 8/10, I originally decided on an 8/10 but then after sleeping on it, the next day I decided to go with the 7/10.

I watched it last night and I enjoyed it. Gwyneth was great and adorable as usual. I laughed a few times (even if I did feel a little guilty about it) and liked the overall message, even if it was a little generic. It's a sweet, funny, and at times touching flick. Definitely worth checking out. Grade: 7/10

I rented Shallow Hal today and I did keep my expectations low, but I still thought that Jack Black could pull this off and surprise me. I think Jack needs to stick to supporting roles. I am not quite sure what Gwenyth was thinking in taking this role. Lets just say she needs to stick to what she knows. From the Farlley brothers I expected a little more comedy than the sappiness I found in this movie. Of course "Me, Myself and Irene wasn't as good as "Something About Mary", and this movie wasn't as good as either of the two. This movie is predictable and a silly romantic comedy, that uses the "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" slogan a bit too much. However, it did keep me entertained, but I am certainly glad I rented this flick instead of investing the time to see it in the movie theater. If a "Beautiful Mind" or "Mothman Prophecies" are out then check out "Shallow Hal".
