Johnny Depp plays Constable Ichabod Crane; he assigned to go to Sleepy Hollow to investigate the murders that have been going on there. While there investigating the murders he meets some very interesting people including Jeffrey Jones who plays Reverend Steenwyck, Michael Gambon who plays Baltus Van Tassel, Christophen Lee who plays The Burgomeister, Richard Griffihs who plays Magistrate Samuel Philipse, Christina Ricci who plays Baltus Van Tassels daughter Katrina Van Tassel, and Miranda Richardson who plays Baltus`s wife Lady Mary Van Tasse.
Sleepy Hollow does have some gory like heads getting chopped off but nothing bloody. You will probably need to watch it more once to understand what happened because it is confusing with all those people being invovled with murders. Overall I give it a 8/10 | | Static Link |

As far as a dark, atmospheric work, fine. But it came off as formulaic as it drew closer to concluding. Jeffrey Jones awards this another score, for being so aware of his surroundings. BEETLEJUICE is far better. 6. | | Static Link |

I loved the gory special effects and I would buy it in a heartbeat. The movie was fast-paced and fun and I'd recommend it to any horror fan. 10/10 | | Static Link |

This is my favourite film from Tim Burton. He does his best work in this film, making it very dark and the scenery is outstanding! The film is about a headless horseman going around the small village of Sleepy Hollow, taking the heads of the locals. A detective (Johnny Depp) comes to investigate the murders and is determined to catch the man who is doing it. I was totally blown away by this film! We get top directing from Burton, beautiful decapitations, cool scenery and overall one truly fucking amazing film! The acting is pretty good, Depp being the best as a quirky detective. The locals play good parts, not top acting but decent. There was not one moment when i felt a little bit bored. If you want to see Tim Burton at his best, watch this one! Sleepy Hollow - 9/10 [This message has been edited by Bub (edited 06-13-2002).] | | Static Link |

I love Tim Burton and this movie has everything I like about his movies -- a little blood, great acting, no million-dollar worth explosions, great directing, and the looks of some kind of twisted fairy tale. Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci are simply great (and God knows I wasn't their biggest fans before seein' this movie), and it's really an entertaining flick. 8.5/10 | | Static Link |

It reminded me of Edward Scissorhands a lot, even though they have nothing to do with each other. The ending was very suprising. Overall, a brilliant (but gory) masterpiece. 10/10 | | Static Link |

I'm sure the review on this is MUCH outdated, but I still want to take the time to let everyone know that I loved this movie. It is incredible when someone can take a classic horror tale and turn it into something still as terrifying as it was 200 years ago. I especially want to comment on our leads, Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci. Johnny Deep is a totally different character in this movie. In other words, if you are familiar with him, you would barely recognize him in this one. He plays the "Agent Scully" of Sleepy Hollow, and trusts nothing but logic and reasoning. And the futher he becomes entangled in what's going on here, the more he shows his fear. One of the most memorable moments was when he started chopping down the tree and some blood sprays on his face -- can't you just tell he's thinking, "what the fuck? why me, why me.." lol. Christina Ricci is just adorable. Which is her part. She's the "good witch" that even Ichabod Crane is overwhelmed by, ... | | Read Entire Entry |
| Posted by: Cyclonus at November 17, 2001, 7:29 pm | | Topic: Reviews: Sleepy Hollow Forum: JoBlo | | For much of its running time, I enjoyed it, then it got mechanical in the last 15 minutes, with an extremely convoluted explanation behind the sinister goings-on. I smell a studio executive at work here. Still, it's worth watching for the terrific art decoration, and for seeing Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci work together. 6/10. | | Static Link |
