I thought it was pretty funny, particularly the scenes in which Steve Zahn was narrating the animal footage (him making fun of the shark with big teeth and when he narrated the zebra carcass had me rolling), but other than that it was just okay. 6/10

I say give this movie a try, its in the same vein as Freddy Got Fingered and Saving Silverman. I found it to rather hilarious, and would recommend it, especially if your drunk.

"Guys goofing around" is a perfect description of what I felt like when I watched this movie. It looked to me like everyone was high through out most of the filming, and in the end, made a really dumb unfunny film! I didnt like it because it felt really LAZY, plot points came up and were dropped for no reason, story went nowhere, a lot of missed opportunities for funny moments (like bigfoot) and I dont know, the whole film felt like such a dissapointment, specially since it came from the guys who made Grandmas Boy which I fucking LOVE! Now theres a funny movie! Saddest part? They actually had a good cast! Not enough effort was put into the script it seems. It felt like they would just start filming something and apparently, start saying the first thing that would pop in their heads that they thought was funny.

what a waste of my time this movie wasnt worth the 6 minutes it took to burn it. im shocked that studios even released this in theatres, it shows how bad the movie biz is getting.

Stupid but funny. Yea I expected more but it's just stupid fun, which in the end had quite a few laughs and was ok.

quite possibly the weirdest movie ive ever seen, for reasons already mentioned, it didnt feel like a movie at all. Jonah Hill was AWFUL in this movie. It was shit, but it did have a few funny parts and some really funny lines, such as: "Monkeys make up over 80% of the world’s monkey population." which completely caught me off guard, and cracked me up good cast, when i heard about it i thought it was gonna be great, then i saw the trailer...eh, then i watched it and dissapointed. Oh and Alan Covert is the worst, thankfully we probably wont see him headline a movie again. He was carried in Grandma's Boy

It's not the greatest comedy ever made, but it sure made me laugh hard at times. The Faces of Death footage and The Bigfoot scenes made me laugh the hardest.

I just like Justin Long in small, funny roles and overall the movie disappointed me. He got a lot of laughs out of me, plus the voice overs for the show. That was really all I liked.

I was unfortunate enough to see this in theaters. My girlfriend and I were looking for something to do one random night, figured we'd see this; we thought, since it had an awesome cast, it might be decent. Boy were we wrong. The description you gave, of this being less of a movie and more "a bunch of guys goofing around" is as accurate a description as anyone can make. I didn't laugh once. It was a terrible movie, and a waste of my time and money. I'm sure the cast had a ball making it, but that definitely didn't translate to the screen.

This movie is either really awful, or incredibly brilliant. I don't think anyone, not even God, is qualified to say which. I still can't believe it got a theater release.

My friends wouldn't stop praising this movie, putting it up on par with Superbad, Anchorman, etc etc (two of my favourite comedies). One of them even said it was funnier then those. Wow. They really missed the nail. I love dumb humour as much as the next guy, but I thought this was just too much for me. Least favourite film of the year.

I was watching this movie last night... I hesitate to even call it a movie, since it barely lasts over an hour and it just feels like a bunch of guys goofing around... It's nowhere near being a good movie, and it's pretty much the only one I've seen that ends on a blooper. Out of nowhere everyone on screen starts laughing and it just ends. But at the same time it was a lot funnier than I thought it was going to be (the Bigfoot scene is priceless). Sometimes it's good to just switch off the brain and laugh at stupid things. What did everyone else think?

My favorite part of the movie was Justin Long's small part. The dude always owns in small roles but I never really enjoy him as a lead. Look no further than Idiocracy for my basis of this statement. Overall, weak film. I wanted to like it but couldn't.

****spoiler****** The movie was pretty damn bad, like horrible. The saving grace it had was when they set up and filmed bigfoot as if he hanged himself and the fish part. other than that pretty bad 5/10

It was really a shame to see so much wasted talent in such a stupid effort at comedy. Kevin "Farva" Heffernan, Jonah Hill, Steve Zahn, Robert Patrick, Justin Long, and Ernest Borgnine in anything should be at least kind of funny. And this movie almost is, but its pretty successful at making you feel like you've wasted your time by giving this film the time of day. Jonah Hill's hillbilly shtick is absolutley terrible. Never have I seen a worse accent/character role potrayal. And Steve Zahn yelling throughout half the movie annoyed the living piss out of me. The film was unecessarily vulgar, obviously trying to ride off the recent sucess of the other R-Rated comedys the stars here have been in. It easily could have survived as another PG-13 Happy Madison production, but instead we get fuck as the most overly used adjective ever. 4/10

I'm with Mr. Graves on the Grandma's boy being a hidden gem page... I don't expect this to be on par with that, but I'll give it the same try when someone else brings it over my house on DVD.

I agree, this movie had some potentially funny scenes, but overall it was really, really bad. It was just badly made and poorly written. Man, I'd love to know who fucked this movie up so bad. It had a great cast, good plot, but was very poorly executed. 4/10 just for the turkey scene really.

I really don't think this film had a script. The whole thing seemed completely adlibbed, and for the most part that wasn't a good thing. This movie is peculiar, because I'd go 20 minutes without even chuckling, and then I'd find myself laughing hysterically, to the point of tears and dry-heaving. Example: the big-toothed shark scene. 3/10

Review by Michael Jaffe By writing a review of STRANGE WILDERNESS I am doing something that really shouldn’t be attempted: intellectualizing this film. And by using the word “film” I am probably overdoing it again. STRANGE WILDERNESS is a collection of scenes filmed with reckless abandon, some of which are hysterical because of their obvious spontaneity and some which make you stare slack jawed at your neighbor as if to ask “is this movie real?” That this is a major release really is a testament to Adam Sandler’s power in Hollywood because this is exactly like GRANDMA’S BOY. There are a lot of Sandler cronies floating around, being high and doing ridiculous shit that is just like what any other 20-year-old stoners would do except more extreme. The basic premise for STRANGE WILDERNESS is that Peter Gaulke (played by Steve Zahn) and Fred Wolf (Allen Covert of GRANDMA’S BOY) make a wilderness show called “Strange Wilderness” except that it sucks and will get cancelled if they can’t get something for better rati...
