It's not like it's a surprise. Any successful movie will get the Hot Topic treatment. Just because you have some conspiracy theory about Diablo Cody scheming away on her laptop while imagining the product possibilites as she sips on a Starbucks coffee doesn't really change anything. And remember that I agree with you on Juno being bad (or, at least for me, mind numbingly average). I just wouldn't give Diablo Cody as much credit as you do in terms of intelligence on stretching the success of Juno.

it was alright. It was new and fresh and stuff... but a little ridiculous in terms of dialogue. It was overrated if you ask me. I didn't get the whole juno thing. Ellen Page is cool, I got it. Michael Cera is still awkward, I got it. But the movie as this fucking phenomenon. whaaattt. i miss arrested development, so the 7 is just for seeing michael cera and jason bateman in the same movie. (otherwise it'd be a 6) 7/10

I thought Bleeker really showed a lot during the scene with him and her in the hall talking about the dance. If not for that scene, I would have felt the character was weak, but through the whole movie I thought he was presented as the one person in her world that shared what she wanted - that scene really pushed it over for me.

Juno The first thing that came to my mind watching this is that Diablo Cody has to be a LOCK for winning Best Original Screenplay. The sharply written dialogue is the star of this film, and nearly every phrase that comes out of Ellen Page's mouth is a joy to hear. While many would argue that real teens don't talk like that, Page deftly sells it with her natural charisma, and while she might lose out to Julie Christie, there is clearly a sign of better things to come for her as an actress. As for the others, Allison Janney is adequate as her stepmother (with the big telloff to the ultrasound tech being her key scene), Jason Bateman is likable as the surrogate father-to-be (the bonding scenes with her and Juno are well done), and Jennifer Garner does the best acting of her career as his wife. It's amazing what Garner can do when she's not given overemoting monologues like on Alias and is allowed to give a subtler performance. Then there's J.K. Simmons, who rocks the house as Juno's dad, always coming up with g...

It's a refreshing, quirky movie but one I wouldn't watch again. Endearing characters and witty dialogues are a bit rare these days, I guess. I think that's why Juno got more praise than deserved.

I thought it was a very sweet movie, and didn't have too much of a problem with the ultra-hipness of Juno. However, I wish they'd written her as like an internet-geek or something. There's no way in hell a 16 y/o would develop that much pop insight without a little help, OR if they'd given some backstory on the mom as being an overgrown teenager, or something --- dunno. I saw this back to back with Knocked UP, and honestly felt Knocked Up was the more authentic of the two movies. Juno even had some gyno facts wrong --- you don't get an ultrasound on your first visit, and no way in hell will;l they just invite some lady standing outside the nursery in to see her baby. However, the sentiment of this film is the winning point, and the actors sold it perfectly. It really was a very cute film. Someone mentioned before that it seemed as if Mark was hitting on JUno, and I thought this was the case. He thought that he was impressing this teenage girl by being so cool, and it thereby provided the reasoning for him to...

(Jason Reitman, 2007) Ever since the rise of independent film in the late 1980's-early 1990's, the quirky indie comedic drama – "dramedy" – has become something of a genre of its own. Recognizable by its often stylized visual look, subtly dark comedy and cast of quirky characters with very stark and unique characteristics and usually accompanied by an odd, far-from-the-mainstream new-wave indie music soundtrack. Films belonging to this genre can rarely if ever be considered gritty or even realistic, as films in the genre are often set in very unique and highly stylized surroundings no doubt based on real-world places and people but clearly very exaggerated versions of them. These reasons and more are why it is even more difficult for those working in the genre to achieve something truly profound, and in Juno, writer Diablo Cody and director Jason Reitman work admirably well to achieve something that transcends the artificial label of the "quirky indie dramedy." Like most films...

Ok, having just watched this movie im a bit torn... I loved the supporting cast; Michael Cera was great and has yet to disappoint me, Bateman and Garner were solid, Juno's parents were great, especially the always brilliant Alison Janney...the best friend was annoying though. I thought the story was solid, not counting a lot of the teen dialog, and ended the way it should have... My problem is with the character of Juno. Ellen Page did a great Job, as she always does IMO, but the dialog she had to work with was at times atrocious. I know she is 16 in the movie, and that some teenagers talk that way, but the whole "Smarter than my age-too witty for you- bad myspace poet/blogger" thing is not interesting, and in fact is more annoying than anything else. The moments when Juno was vulnerable and real, and not trying too hard to over "hip" the whole thing were more than satisfying, but I guess thats being a teen. Mostly ridiculous with moments of clarity here and there. Good movie overall, but...

This movie deserves its praise. Even just based on the simple fact alone that for the first time in my life I actually liked Jennifer Garner in a movie. Seriously, I have really hated her in all of her movies...I thought she was annoying, and just couldn't fucking act, and I would bring me great physical pain to see her act. To my utter amazement, she was fantastic (!) in this movie, and actually my favourite character. Sure, there were obviously other great aspects to the movie which we've all heard over and over, but man....this came as the biggest surprise to me. Maybe I should rent the first few seasons of 24, to see if I still would hate Kiefer Sutherland, but I digress...

One of my favorites of 2007, Diablo Cody did a great job on the script except for the first act which wasn't that great, but the last part was excellent. Ellen Page was amazing as the titular character and the supporting cast was great as well. 9/10

Wasn't expecting much from it but ended up really enjoying Juno, the acting is mostly very good, the script was okay, funny at times although some of the laughs were from how stupid the dialogue was in places. I did get into the story and "cared" about the characters though. Much better than I thought it would be. 8/10

With... the atrocious Hard Candy? Too bad La Vie En Rose was like the French equivalent of Ray and was largely incoherant tripe. I did enjoy Cotillard's performance though. Page was robbed, and if not page than Helena Bonham Carter.
