I saw this film over the Easter weekend. I heard it was a very good film. I adored Sunset BLVD, so I was hoping this would be just as good. Well, it was just as good, and a whole lot better. When the film was over, I was in total shock. It was such a brilliant, funny, moving film. Jack Lemmon, who I have always liked, was excellent. He is climbing the charts in my favourite actors list. The dialogue in the film was spot on too. With some sharp, smart writing. Which always helps a film. The Apartment is a film in my top ten. An amazing film, and a film all movie lovers will love. Rent it now! 10/10 * 10th favourite movie of all time *

Just watched this film, and I was taken aback by how good it was. To be honest, I expected Some Like it Hot all over again (good film, nothing substantial), but this got me by surprise. Jack Lemmon and Shirley Maclaine both turn in awesome performances, and the writing is spot on. I hadn't heard dialogue as intelligent as that in a long time. This is one of the greatest films ever made. 9.5/10, new entry into my top 20

The apartment: The apartment is Jack lemmons shining hour. It's the story of a lonely man trying to climb his way to the top of the business world by loaning out the keys to his apartment to powerfull men at his work for their affairs. This movie shows the break down of a man desperatly trying to make something of himself while at the same time it sheds a comedic light on the entire story. The movie was written by Billy Wilder and I also consider this his best work. It deals with themes that were rarely seen at the time. (I can't really share because it would totally spoil the movie). Shirely Maclaine does a great job as the films love interest. She brought her acting chops to the plate and hit a home run. The apartment has its sad moments, its funny moments, its dramatic moments and all put together it is one of the greatest movies ever made 10/10
