The film is scary as hell. The realstic look of the movie brings the terror in full circle and without gore manages to creep you out. One of the best horror films in history. 10/10 | | Static Link |

Have you seen it? I haven't seen Black Christmas as of yet, but it's definately on my list of movies to watch. Hopefully it won't disappoint. | | Static Link |

Gritty, tense, shocking, brutal and just an all out attack on the senses. Gotta love Leatherface and his whacked out dance at the end, freaking classic! 10/10 | | Static Link |

Yeah, I did see some old crappy VHS print... I'm sure the lighting is probably better on DVD, hopefully anyway, because I couldn't really see a damn thing that was going on whenever there was a scene in a dark place (like in the house), or when it was night time. Thank god the last girl of the group to be alive was wearing white pants, because during the night chase scenes, her white pants are pretty much all that was visible. | | Static Link |

The art direction of the house was amazingly disturbing, with all those caged animals, human bones, and...well, it is just plain scary. Makes the house in the original Haunting look like a new playground. | | Static Link |

The first time I saw this it scared the shit out of me. The acting was great, and I was very surprised with Leatherface's first appearance. And the hook scene was just amazing. Everything was perfect, it scared me, it enterteined me. An excellent horror movie. I never give horror movies this high rating, but this movie really deserves it. | Posted by: Mike at June 22, 2003, 2:38 am | | Topic: (VIDEO) "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (10/10) Forum: JoBlo | | I personally found it very disappointing. The last half an hour is what saves the movie from being crap, and is all that makes it even remotely memorable. The movie was so dark and you could hardly tell what was going on, which really ruined it for me. And the character that we end up rooting for was a bitch for most of the movie, of course, we can't help but feel sorry for her later because nobody deserves to go through what she does, and we end up wanting her to get away. It just wasn't scary, and for most of the time it was kind of boring. But once it gets going towards the end, it really delivers. I wouldn't mind seeing this one on DVD though, to see if the lighting is any better, which might make the movie a little better. First hour - 4/10 Last half an hour - 8/10 Final Grade: 6/10 (C+) | | Static Link |

The "driller killer" scene was a part of Bret Easton Ellis's "American Psycho" novel and "Body Double" was Bateman's favorite movie in the whole world... he mentions watching it lots and lots of times, not to mention his fascination with the "ultra-sexy" Jami Gertz... It seems like every reply so far has verified the "scary factor". What's funny to me is that I don't believe people when they tell me they laughed the whole time and weren't scared a little the first time they saw it... yeah right playgames... man, don't remind me brother... after "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"'s "people eat people meat"... I was alone at home, shut the lights, grabbed some nachos and watched it in an unlit room, and DAMN if these dudes didn't get under my skin!! I'd love to watch it again sometime and see how it plays... Of course, everyone should know by now that it's a cool movie cause Patrick Bateman likes to watch (listen to) it as he does his 1000 stomach crunches... | | Static Link |

| Posted by: kerryanne at March 22, 2001, 8:41 pm | | Topic: (VIDEO) "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (10/10) Forum: JoBlo | | This movie disturbs the hell out of me..for the simple fact that it is just a bunch backwoods crazies. Other horror movies add an element of the unreal...something that your mind or science could not possibly perceive happening. Example Freddy Kruger...a burned up man coming back to kill children in their dreams, he's immpossible to kill. Now the movie may be scary, but t's unrealistic. This movie is the exact opposite. It's odd that you mentioned checking the gas gauge in the middle of hell on earth...because it's the paranoia of this movie that makes me like it so. You never know what can happen driving down a barren road, in the middle of nowhere, but running out of gas, would becomes the least of your worries. Excellent review Brock...definately worth the 10/10. | | Static Link |
