An Excellent little suspense thriller (9/10) A great story, topped off with fine performances from Mr. Ford (looking young and beautiful in his late 40s) and Emmanuelle Seigner as the young french woman who knows more than shes letting on, along with great turns from the rest of the cast. I loved how the mystery really slowly unfolds and the wacky sense of humour. That bit in Michelle's apartment when he gets up witht the stuffed toy (you really have to see it, to understand that!) is hilarious!

I was afraid it was awful, but I really enjoyed it 8/10. What a great movie. In Roman Polanski's smart thriller FRANTIC the City of Lights is a murky smear of hotel lobbies, neon signs, Pizza the Huts and callous bureaucrats who misunderstand you, if they're listening. Which is a problem for visiting conventioneer Dr. Richard Walker. He doesn't speak French and, stepping out of that shower, he finds his wife Sondra's been kidnapped. FRANTIC is full of Hitchcock [rooftop vertigo, the perils of showering. Think of VERTIGO and PSYCHO]. Walker's only clue is an unidentified woman's suitcase of clothes, a scrawled phone number and a Statue-of-Liberty souvenir. A dumbfounded, jetlagged fish out of water, he flounders from concierge to cop, useless embassy factotum to blase' baggage official to [as things accelerate] a dead man named De'de' and a live wire named Michele. FRANTIC is vintage Polanski, with its relentless paranoia, irony, diffident strangers [the smug bartender, the sullen embassy Marine] and nutty ca...

FRANTIC (8.5/10) is a classy thriller that oozes Polanski trademarks. Aside from being one of Harrison Fords finest thespian moments this film is also well shot, exceptionally restrained and enthralling. The fish out of water angle is only one of many issues addressed in this inventive thriller. Taking it's time, building up subtle tension then before you know it-the viewer is FRANTIC. One of Polanski's best and a quality thriller that stands tall alongside some of the best in the genre.

Haven't seen this film in years, but I did see it about 10 times. One of Polanski's best. The Ninth Gate actually reminded me so much of Frantic because of the lush Euro setting and how Polanski uses it to a great advantage to set the mood. One image from this film that sticks to my mind was Ford and Seigner travelling Paris' dim-lighted freeways with Tina Turner-ish music on the car radio. Another is a scene on a roof with Seigner trying to recover something. That's it. The third thing I remember is a spoiler, so never mind. I gotta borrow this film again. Thanks for reminding me.

My kind of thriller. It gradually and slowly builds in suspense. Harrison Ford is excellent as usual. I really got hooked on it from the getgo.

FRANTIC (1988)
Director: Roman Polanski
Starring: Harrison Ford, Emmanuelle Seigner An older couple, still in love, visiting Paris together, check into their hotel room. They giggle, they play around, they order room service. Then, the wife takes a shower. All's well. Then, Harrison Ford takes a shower (he's the husband). All's well...until he comes out of the shower to discover that his wife is not in the room. Hmmmmmm, curious.... And it only gets better from there... Seriously though, isn't this an ultra-cool set-up? Well, I thought so...definitely! (the wife has disappeared!!) But credit Polanski for playing the movie reaaaaal slow during the first 10-15 minutes. First, you're wondering why you should give a shit about any of the small things that this couple is talking about.... But as soon as the wife disappears (and yes, she is gone without a trace from the room), you start thinking back to the film's beginning and trying to remember the little clues that might've been dropped....just like For...
