The brutality of war are portrayed and shown clearly and realistically in this film that it's truly powerful and in a way, disturbing. With it's 2 hrs. and 30 minutes running time, the film moves along on a fast paced and kept me focused on what the film is about. Marlon Brando gives a superb performance in the film and is utterly frightening, Martin Sheen is very sympathetic as Captain Willard and Robert Duvall just steals every scene that he's in. The movie also features some GREAT lines (Duvall's 'I love the smell of Napalm in the morning' monologue is pricelss) and amazing cinematography which captures the horror of war and what war can do to people. One fucking amazing movie! 10/10 | | Static Link |

It was quite good in parts and I liked seeing what war did to men, and also great cinematography. But the movie was too boring in parts and Marlon Brando gives one of the worst performances of all-time. 7/10 | | Static Link |

Im not a huge war buff or anything but all the war films I see I end up loving. This isnt a war movie in a traditional sense like Platoon or Saving Private Ryan but its still awesome. I even enjoyed the book it was loosly based on. | | Static Link |

There is no movie out there that is quite like this one and I don't think there ever will be. I love this movie so much. It represents everything I look for in a good movie. For that coppola I salute you Oh and if you haven't checked it out... Try getting your paws on Heart of darkness the documentary of the making of the film. You will never ever ever look at the movie the same way... Trust me. The documentary itself is almost as epic as the movie. | | Static Link |

From the fact that our original motives were completely false to the fact that we lost 70,000 Americans in a war we eventually lost. Apocalypse Now, is about that dark and unforgettable time. It's about what this war did to men. It's about what all wars do to men. When we first meet Captain Willard, he is an obvious drunk and very obviously depressed man. He says, "When I was here, I wanted to be there, when I was there all I could think of was getting back into the jungle." Willard is the prime example of what the Vietnam War did to our soldiers. It warped their minds, because they didn't really know what they were fighting for, or who they were fighting for. All that Willard can think about is getting a mission. For his sins, as he claims, they gave him one. The mission he is presented with is a mission that no soldier would want to take. His mission is to find and kill another member of the United States Military. The offic... | | Read Entire Entry |

Forum: JoBlo | | I also love this movie (one of the only war movies I enjoy), but i have one small quibble: Too many of the scenes end the same way: with a closeup on Martin Sheen as the sound slowly fades away and all you hear is MS's narration. I think FFC might have ran out of idea's on how to resolve a scene. | | Static Link |

Forum: JoBlo | | Starring: Marlon Brando, Martin Sheen, Robert Duvall Directed by: Francis Ford Coppola I rented this movie with extra-high hopes, I wasn't let down. It was all I imagined. Brutal war, great acting, and a magnificent story. I loved it, all 150 fucking minutes. I can't find a fault with the film, although the tape I had sucked and I kept hearing this little *crack* noise every now and then, the movie itself was total and absolute perfection. 10/10 | | Static Link |
