What in the flying fuck? For one: how can you hate something that actually (for the most part) happened. And the songs: the songs for the most part are enjoyable. How could you hate such catchy songs? My favorite is So long, farewell. And I looooove Angela Cartwright. She's so cute!

Starring: Julie Andrews (Maria von Trapp), Christopher Plummer (Captain von Trapp), Richard Haydn (Max Detweiler), Charmian Carr (Liesl), Ben Wright (Herr Zeller), Nicolas Hammond (Fredrich), Heather Menzies (Louisa), Angela Cartwright (Brigitta), Duane Chase (Kurt), Debbie Turner (Marta), Kym Karath (Gretl), Peggy Wood (Mother Abbess), Elanor Parler (Baroness) I know there's quite a few people that doesn't love this film but I am a big sucker when it comes to it. It's happy, entertaining and like M_M pointed out, a great 'feel good' movie. The casting of Julie Andrews as Maria von Trapp is perfect, I could not think of another actress that could've done better than her in the role. She was delightful in all of her singing and it always puts a smile on my face, my favorites of hers being THE SOUND OF MUSIC, DO-RE-MI, and I HAVE CONFIDENCE. Christopher Plummer, a underrated but great actor who also made an impression in this film, his song number in EDELWEIS was beautiful and unforgettable. Peggy Wood as Moth...

The Sound of Music 1965 Genre: Musical/Biography Rating: G Starring: Julie Andrews, Christopher Plummer, Richard Haydn, Peggy Wood, Eleanor Parker Directed by Robert Wise Rated: ****1/2 Plot Crunch: A nun who doesn't quite fit in is sent to live withn a retired navel captain and his millions upon millions of children. Slowly, but surely she wins the hearts of the children and eventually the captain himself. But when the nazis wish for them to join their army, they must head head for the hills.... Critique: "The hills are alive with the sound of music" and that's the happiest sound in all the world. The Sound of Music is the ultimate good over evil story. Julie Andrews in her finest, and it doesn't get much better than this. It's wholesome fun for the whole family, and she makes it that way. Chris Plummer is glumly aware of the magic taking place, but in the second half of the film, is passionate and catches on. Eleanor Parker as Baroness Shraeder was truly mean, and played the part with class and P...
