I didn't really care for it as much as the first one. Maybe it might be because I was sitting in a jam-packed theatre at the front all the way to the side. So that I might have accounted for that. Don't get me wrong the action sequences were definitely ones for the books. The effects were well crafted, and the soundtrack fit very well with the film. I then watched it a second time, when it hit DVD, and then a third and then a fourth etc. This is one of those movies that grows on you the more you watch it, and it just keeps getting better and better. I now absolutely love this movie. Plot: Blade is forced to join sides with his immortal enemies; the vampires, when he finds out that there is a new breed of vampire called 'reapers,' roaming the streets, infecting and killing both vampires and humans. They're pretty much impossible to kill. Nothing works on them so it looks like Blade is in for some serious overtime. Blade is teamed up with the 'Bloodpack,' a tea... | | Read Entire Entry |

The movie is just outstanding being a huge fan of comic books and action & horror films this was just perfect for me I had no idea this was going to be better than the first. It blew the first Blade out of the water, we get to know Blade a lot better in this movie and thats a huge plus! The way Wes did Blade in this was just way better showing more of his human sides not just a dark side. Now I think if you're not a fan of the comic/comics you will not be a very big Blade fan, I have been a Blade fan for about 10 years now when my father first showed me his comics and the Tomb of Dracula comics (and by the way I do own most of them Overall -10/10 BLADE fans will love it. | | Static Link |

Yes, it had great fighting scenes and was full of action, but sometimes the action didn't make sense. For example, why did these morons shoot so many bullets, when they knew the bullets didn't hurt the reapers? It was known early on that UV light was the only thing to stop the reapers, but these bozos kept firing round after round. How stupid is that? Speaking of stupid, the script needed a lot of work. I didn't understand that main point of the plot at all. (Maybe I fell asleep in a critical moment of the movie). The "king" vampire hires Blade to rid the world of super-vampires, but it's the "king" vampire that is actually creating the super-vampires. Huh?!? Some of the action scenes were very well done, and some of the scenes were painfully cartoonish. Did two different companies work on the CGI for this flick? I couldn't believe that some of the scenes actually remained in the film (that's how poorly animated they were). Stick to stunt... | | Read Entire Entry |

My only problem was that there was barely any dialogue between characters, except for the endless bantering and wise-ass remarks between Blade, whistler and the Bloodpack. And Blade's new sidekick calling Blade "B" every two minutes dosen't make things any easier( he literally annoyed me as much as Jar Jar.). I haven't even seen the first one yet, I've never been a fan of the comic book, and the basic concept isn't one that would interest me right from the start. Not a big Wesley Snipes fan either, by the way.
But a friend suggested this movie this afternoon at the theaters, so I agreed to see it. As I didn't have high expectations, I wasn't disappointed nor happily surprised -- but I'll have to admit I was...satisfied. As everybody already knows, this movie is about Blade, the vampire hunter, having to team up with his enemies the vampires to fight uber-vampires, lead by a guy named Nomak, or Novak, or something like that. Yes, it's an action movie, and yes, it's ACTION all along. Luckily for the movie, that's exactly its strongest point: the action scenes. Guillermo Del Toro blows great style into them, making them original and real kick-ass. Directing and cinematography are better, it has more action, more gore and a darker, more evil overall feel. Acting is mostly mediocre, but Snipes makes a good action hero and Ron Pearlman is having fun with his role. Unfortunately the plot has some huge holes in it and the films suffers from some obvious CGI. And why the hell do they always fast-forward those CGI stunt doubles? They look idiotic when they are moving twice as fast as the actors. It kills the illusion right away. Action is mostly well execetuted, but it get's choppy at times and is too repetitious. Happily Del Toro injects the film with lot's of cool visual style and even glimpses of poetry among all the extreme and even disturbing violence. Especially the very last, romantic death scene in the film was delightfully beautiful. But thanks to the rather incoherent and even dumb script at times, the film can't raise above it's B-roots. I like action flicks, I like kung fu flicks, I like horror flicks but Blade II was garbage. Is it just me who is getting tired of CGI effects? Some of the fight scenes were CGI'd to the max and they looked awful! How I long for the good old days when fight scenes were done between trained fighters who could pull of an amazing fight scene with out some computer nerd manipulating the image (for reference see Enter the Dragon). Don't even get me started on the story line... I didn't expect much, I was looking forward to the action and the fights but I still long for a semblence of a half decent plot and Blade II couldn't even deliver that... I am going to land my review right down the middle: It's a definate popcorn movie that does nothing to further develop the original, has plot holes the size of California, and seems "played by ear". Actually, this sounds very much like it's father. I really don't even remember much about the plot of the original other than "Wesley Snipes: Vampire Hunter".. I guess the studios thought it would be wise to make Blade the vampire HELPER in the second serving, so as to cover both sides of his genetics. But personally, this concept didn't do a damn thing for me. First of all, the old man (who was he again?) was just a major reality check for me, since his old frail body (which btw was shut down for 2 years in some kind of scientific machismo) was supposed to be a fierce warrior against nasty creatures that are a tough match for Blade himself... yea... uh-huh... and the kid that was supposed to help them out i... | | Read Entire Entry |

Its a put your brain on hold eye candy adventure flick and as that it suceeds very well. I personally thought it was better than the first Blade movie. A movie like this needs a good villian just as much as it needs a good hero. The first Blade movie did not in my opinion have a very kick ass bad guy for Blade to go up against and it suffered because of it. No problems with that here. The Reapers are plenty bad. I also thought it had a better basic plot than the first movie. Problems? Yeah, a few. There were some things left unexplained by the storyline and some of the CGI during a few fight sequences looked a little cartoonish but I didn't let it bug me too much. Like I said this is a action/adventure escapism flick and should not be over analized. I give it 6.5/10. | | Static Link |

This movie has thows things in it. This movie is very very gory and don't go see it if you can't handle gore. Well I know someone who was watching this and there was a leak in the cealing and that would be so freaky in a bloody vampire flick. Blade II is a good time for fans of the action/horror genre and that is about. it seems that everyone is raving about how better this was than the original...but still i think the original was more fresh, original and had fewer plot holes than this one. The action in this is great and the dark, seedy cinematography of this vampire world was excellent...but where the film starts to lose its steam and hold my interest was at the end...as alliances and surprises and motivations are revealed to us it is hard to tell what's what. But like I said the action and the gruesome reapers were great but in the end it is still just an action-packed gore fest with a few plot contrivances. | | Static Link |

Blade II 6/10 I have to say that I was dissapointed with Blade II. Having been a huge fan of the first one (it's one of the few dvd's that every once in a while I pop in and watch again) I feel the second one falls flat when it comes to the story, plot, consistency, and recreating the Blade world. I noticed all of the plot holes mentioned in previous posts. The first movie is flawless to me. But in this one they screw up the whole idea of a Blade "vampire" with not being consistent when it comes to the vampires reacting to light, to other weapons, and the whole thing with whistler being a vampire and "cured" is another unexplained phenomenon. *SPOILER*
And if Blade's new helper was a "familiar", jeez, the guy could have just put poison in his serum when he was out killing vampires? Come on.
*SPOILER* The motivations in the whole movie are messed up too. Why have this huge fight in Blades lair just to deliver a message! Why did Blades helper shoot throug... | | Read Entire Entry |

The first blade was interesting and had a strong story to tell, this movie had kicking and shooting with the worst dialoge I've heard since (dude where's my car).
The special effects were tight and I liked the new vampire breed, but where was the good acting I know these characters can provide. I think bringing kris kristoferson back was a bad move, he was bad enough in the first one. If special effects are your thing, this movie will satisfy. The sequel to the surprise hit Blade easily defines the term "Kicking your ass into next week." It has the elements of a really good popcorn flick: action, nice one-liners, more action, some hot-looking women (well, with a few exceptions), and lots of more action. With some fast and inventive camera work by Guilermo Del Toro, it defines ass-kicking fights. Snipes seems to be having nothing but fun in a role he owns now. Kris Kristopherson is perfectly fine in his owned role as Whistler (and just don't look into how he returns, just be glad he's back) and Ron Perlman is sweet as the head Bloodpack vampire. The one-upping between him and Blade is classic. Add to that, the ending is kick ass, (which, coincidently, is similar to a scene in the Crow: City of Angels, which David Goyer also scripted). | | Static Link |

Why oh why did you take the MI 2 approach to a sequal and trade simple good storytelling for eye candy? Appealing to fanboys who would perfer to go numb for an hour and a half, Blade 2 delivers nothing more than fight after fight with villians who are never fully explained, a love angle that should never have existed, and a plot that reminds me of a night of playing RPG's with a bunch of immature power gamers. Why mess with a good thing like finding and curing Whistler? If he'd been kept in statis all this time, then that means that the virus has not really had time to spread. This means that, following the first movie, Dr. Jensen's retro DNA virus should have wiped Whistler clean and cured him of the thirst. This buisness of "Can we really trust him?" got old fast because of this oversight. Wh introduce new villians when you have to find Whistler anyway. How did you know that he has not killed himself. The story is better, the villains are cooler, and the action sequences are fan-freaking-tastic. If just one of the swordfight scenes that appear in Blade II were in Highlander: Endgame - Highlander would have been a much better movie. The action is what drives this movie. The fights between the good guys (Blade, Whistler), and the bad guys (vampires), or the other bad guys (the super vampires) are nonstop and are throughout the movie until the end. There are subplots like Whistler's return, Blade's new sidekick being a little odd, a love thing going on between Blade and the hot vampire, and the conflict between Blade and the vampires he's joined with to fight this new breed of super vampires. They beg Blade to help them fight a new breed of undead called "Reapers", who will wipe out the entire human and vampire race, if they are not stopped.
