But I think the gay angle didn't do much for the film. It just sort of floated around there with nothing to do. I didn't me for it an insult just I thought if it was removed from the film it still would be great. | | Static Link |

I was blown away by his amazing performance, and ranks as on of the best, IMO. As for the movie, just like Pacino's performance, amazing. It is a very well made bank robbery flick. Very dark. Lumet and Pacino worked beyond great together in this film. 9/10 | | Static Link |

I am not a biggot by any means but that aspect sorta got to me too. Not enough for me to actually point it out but when a person carries that type of trait, it makes things almost seem a bit less serious. | | Static Link |

This is my format for reviews that never changes and for the longest time ive contemplated leaving certain catagories out like TA for movies that deal nothing with it. Personally, I think it's Al Pacino's best performance, and John Cazale works off him perfectly, as he did in the Godfather movies. I thought the script was very smart, what with the "public opinion" part of the robbery. For instance, when the crowds find out he's bisexual, he's no longer their hero, just some queen. Anyway, I think it's a great film, with great acting. P.S. I'm not trying to sound like a jerk here, but why rate this film on T&A and violence? However Dog Day is one movie that started it right. Its a solid thriller all the way through with only some minor pacing flaws that keep it from being great. Two men try to rob a bank. It was only supposed to take ten minutes but ends up taking twelve hours. The movie focuses mainly on Pacino's character, Sonny, who has to deal with all the people in his real life while managing a hostage situation. I havent read to much into it but from what Ive heard this is based pretty close on the real story of Sonny. When looking back at all the Pacino roles over the years, it can be said that this is one of his best. Better than the Godfathers? Maybe. He manages to keep the audience into the movie at all times. I thought the movie became slow at points which is a reason I didnt love the movie. Some of the conversations near... | | Read Entire Entry |
