Dark Blue is a gripping cop drama that was a big surprise to me. I thought it was going to be a fair cop thriller, but what I got instead was a cop drama that had very complex characters. Kurt Russell was great in it and he made the movie a lot better. There was a scene where he was just silent for a few minutes, but he had these expressions on his face and you knew exactly what the character was thinking. Ving Rhames was fair. His character seemed kind of emotionless and was probably the least complex main character of the entire movie. I also liked how some characters changed because of something they saw or knew. It also keeps you on the edge of your seat and you never can predict what's going to happen next. The only problem Dark Blue has is the fact that most of the characters are dirty cops and you don't really care about them at all until the end. So overall it was a good cop drama that was better than Training Day even though it pretty much took its story. Dark Blue- 8/10

I enjoyed it, it's a good cop movie and I liked the setting and atmosphere more than anything, It wasn't just the same old rogue cop bullshit again, it wasn't a great film by any means but very enjoyable. 6/10

Dark Blue is a surprisingly good cop thriller that is tense, taut and quite riveting from start to finish. This film takes police corruption to a whole different level. I really wasn't expecting much going ino this film but I was really surprised at how much it grabed me and held me interested througout. Kurt Russell gives his best performance in years (it's probably his best performance since Tombstome(1993)) as Sgt. Eldon Perry an elite detective in the L.A.P.D. who breaks procedure and bends the rules to get the job done. He doesn't do it because he can or wants to, but because he has to. To get the job done he has to falsify evidence and even take down criminals, who while they deserve what they get, don't get a fair shake. Scott Speedman plays Bobby, Eldon's young and bright partner, who ultimately wants to do the right thing and be an honest cop, but begins to fall into the same trap as his elder partner, who is in too deep as it is. Their boss is Jack Van Meter played by Brendan Gleeson, who is abolut...

Synopsis - Dark Blue takes place in a racially charged L.A, right before the verdict is announced for the white officers who beat Rodney King in 1992. Two partners, Eldon Perry played by Kurt Russell, is teaching his partner the ways of the game. (a bit similar to Training Day) Both of them bend the rules to get the job done, which involves an investigation against them. While struggling to maintain his own personal problems, Eldon Perry carefully works to avoid apprehension by Chief Holland (Ving Rhames) I wanted to see this film because Kurt Russell used to be fun to watch (Stargate) before his movies became terrible. Dark Blue is written by the same people behind Training Day and L.A. Confidential. Both of those films were really good, (and they had great directors) and the fact that Kurt Russell is a very good actor really interested me. These are the facts on Dark Blue. Dark Blue is a cool cop drama / thriller. It mainly goes over the work of SIS officer Eldon Perry (Russell) and his partner. It shows t...

The movie is good, but there are a few flaws. I was going into the movie thinking there would be some more action than there was. All the action you saw in the preview, is all you get in the movie itself. Another thing was scenes seemed to drag on longer than they had to. If you are looking for a good drama, with some action (not much) I recommend Dark Blue. If you are a Kurt Russel fan, I would also check out this movie. I rate 6 out of 10.
