SPICE WORLD (1997) THE GOOD: --This film succeeds at the rare times when it parodies itself. I liked a few of the scenes where an idea about a Spice Girls film was being discussed and the flaws of the film were being pointed out. It may have made the flaws in the film more obvious but it was quite funny and entertaining to see the writers and such taking the piss out of themselves. --The Spice Girls are terrible actors, however there are a few enjoyable supporting performances and the film has quite a star-studded cast. Richard E. Grant is great when he isn't throwing his arms around in joy for the pop stars and has a couple of good comedic moments. Alan Cumming has fun in his role and I liked him a lot, this film is obviously a waste of his talent. Stephen Fry has a hysterical cameo as a judge - his scene is the highlight of the movie. Well after 'thinking' about it I realised that this movie was for Spice Girls fans and Spice Girls fans only. I mean, what did you expect from a movie starring the Spice Girls? This is obviously just a bad excuse for showing the cute girls. And you know what? It works. The camera loves the girls, the movie looks great, lots of colour all arround and lots of stupid fun also, this movie is not boring at all. I can't actually say that I had a blast watching it, because I didn't, but the point of the movie was just to show the girls doing their things and looking great, so what else can you ask for? The movie has it all! I was surprised with the amount of cool cameos this movie has, great celebritys like Elton John and Elvis Costello. But in all honestly, it wasn't boring, and whether or not I'm entertained while watching a movie is definitely a factor in what I rate it. I pretty much never give out 1/10's or 2/10's, even 3/10's is a rarity. 4/10's happen more often, but usually only about 2-3 a year. I'll stick with my 5/10 (C-) rating. It's a BAD movie, but it's not boring. Sorry, I just didn't HATE it as much as some. I definitely don't want to see it again though. Man, I'm not even going to bother correcting my spelling and punctuation mistakes in my posts above. I just don't care right now. I know I made them, but I'm leaving them. God was I an idiot . We used to love these girls back then and I really liked the movie. A few months ago this movie was on tv and I saw it...It was pretty bad, but not as bad as everyone seems to think. I mean it's a movie about the Spice Girls, what else can you expect other than a bad goofy movie? I think this is an "excelent" movie for little girls, it's very enterteining and never gets boring. I had to watch my niece for my sister, she brought it over and was wining to watch it, so I said she could, and she wanted me to watch it with her, so I did... It's not the most entertaining movie I've ever seen. But when you're watching a kid you could do worse. I'm just glad I didn't have to sit through a Barney movie or Thomas and The Magic Railroad or something like that. Now that would be torture. So compared to other kid flicks, this one didn't put me to sleep or make me want to slit my wrists... So what I'm saying is, for a kids movie, it's "OK"... Here's my rating system: 1-3 = HORRIBLE
4 = NOT HORRIBLE, BUT NOT GOOD EITHER
5 = "OK"
6 = AVERAGE
7 = GOOD, ABOVE AVERAGE
8 = GREAT
9 = EXCELLENT, NEARLY PERFECT

This movie is not a masterpiece by any means, it's not even that great. But you know what, it's not that horrible either. I mean sure, it's corney as hell, but it was supposed to be.
