I did like Deconstructing Harry (7/10) but he showed in Celebrity he seemed to be losing his touch. I didn't like the idea of Kenneth doing a Woody Allen imitation, and throughout the film I felt the many scenes in the movie were pointless and were far apart. The film wasn't an insight in the life of celebrities, but more of a insight of the boring life of this troubled writer, and a subplot of this woman who wants to satisfy his husband sexually by getting advice from a hooker. Blah, boring stuff. 4/10 Recommend (Other Woody Allen films): Husbands & Wives-9/10 Deconstructing Harry-7/10 | | Static Link |

Most of the characters are not even likeable and some are downright mean (like Leonardi DiCaprio), unlikeable are Melanie Griffith, Kenneth Braugh, Winona Ryder, Charlize Theron, and too many more to mention. The only characters you truly care about are the Judy Davis and Joe Montegna characters as they were the only ones to resemble decent human beings. And why did Allen have Kenneth Braugh looking and sounding like himself? Woody should of just let Braugh play himself instead of a bad imitation of himself. And I don't think this was the film for black and white, it was very depressing looking. The writing did not develop full blown characters but only bit parts for most of the actors. These kinds of celebrities we can definitely do without! The film a C, and the + is for the sincere acting of Davis and Montegna. | | Static Link |

In my opinion it's a little psychological and corky. Which I find good for this flick. "My body is my husband's property, but from the neck up is nobody's business." Hehehehehehe! I loved the opening scene with Melloni Griffith (I think that's her name right?). I thought the dialogue exchange at her old house was pretty funny and well written. The dialogue is probably what's best about this film. I watched this movie with my parents a few years ago and my mother hated it, while I was like "what?" This film is very well made by Woody Allen. The scene where the lead character (I forget his name) was talking to his old friend now a therapist at his H.S reunion. That scene stood out in my mind, about his mid-life crisis. I will agree with you that the Dicaprio scenes where the best, but did that really fit into the story? Anyways, by the end I liked how the ex-wife became something she hated and loved it. Her life just fell into place for her, and she didn't know what to do at first. The man could never seem to get things together. Also at the end, he didn't know what the hell he was doing not married to his ex-wife anymore. 8/10 for ... | | Read Entire Entry |
