Jessica Biel a likeable and beautiful heroine even if she doesn't bring much originality to her part, that's more the script's fault. I'd like to see an entirely different heroine in a modern slasher film sometime. "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", if anything, should serve as her big breakout into film. I think the most convincing of the cast was Jonathan Tucker. During the gripping scene in the car where the "sheriff" made his character act out the girl's suicide, he looked so genuinely frightened and just put on a convincing show the whole time, even if his character wasn't the most kick-ass. --I think the idea of a cannibalistic family is both horrific and very intriguing story-wise. This concept wasn't utilised very well in the first film. We see a couple of family members in the first film, all of whom are just your average bickering Southe... | | Read Entire Entry |

Like has been said by others, this is one depressing and disturbing film. As I was viewing the DVD of it last night, I kept asking myself "Why am I watching this?" It quickly became just a matter of waiting for the next person to meet their brutal end. I was never really "scared" at any point, just grossed out and disgusted by the whole situation these poor kids were stuck in. Where is the entertainment value?? Like I said, not being a horror fan, I guess I just don't "get it". I'm not sure how one is supposed to enjoy watching people pointlessly cut up by chainsaws and impaled on meat hooks. Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to violent, disturbing or depressing movies, as long there is some point to them. Silence of the Lambs is great. Kill Bill is awesome. I WASN'T SCARED!!! THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A HORROR MOVIE PEOPLE! THE SCRIPTWRITERS NEED TO GET OFF THEIR LAZY ASSES AND WRITE SOMETHING THAT WASN'T A HALF ASSED PLOT LINE MIXED WITH BAD REFERENCES TO THE ORIGINAL! Darchangel's Rating: 2/10 (and that's being generous to this piece of shit!) Death to Beth ~darchangel~ | | Static Link |

Basically a more modern scarier version of the original, but is missing that sketchy crazy Tobe Hooper look and feel to it. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)- 4/5 | | Static Link |

I hate the characters, I hate the gore (which, though people say there is a lot, there isn't), I hate a majority of the characters, I hate Michael Bay. This isn't a BAD movie, it is just very flawed and just wasn't as good as some of the horror movies of last year (Identity, Final Destination 2, Cabin Fever, Freddy VS Jason). Sure, it tried to be real and gritty, but what I see is an over-polished Hollywood money maker. Come on, does Marcus Nispel and Michael Bay need anymore money to swim naked in? Ugh....... A very "dissa-fucking-pointed" 6/10. | | Static Link |

But I'm "glad" this movie made you sick, because it means that it's a really well done and effective horror movie. | | Static Link |

I am so confused about my thoughts towards this movie, i don't know where to begin. On one hand, its the most gruesome movie i've ever seen that made me actually throw up after watching it, and on the other hand it's one of the most well made horror movies i've ever seen with brilliant effects and a near-flawless cast. But i belive i'm going to go along with my gut instinct (pun intended) and say go with my first point of view that this movie is just brutal and almost not watchable. But i guess that all depends on the type of person you are. Can you take watching 5 likeable teenagers being tortured to death at the hands of a madman with no mercy or comedic relief displayed in the film? If so, than here's you movie. I know my points are pretty biased but i feel that exact same way that Mr. Ebert does about this movie. It is brutal, vile, dark, has no sense of mercy, hope, or laughter. Then if again if you dig this kind of stuff, you'll love this movie, but if you dont dig it, you might jus... | | Read Entire Entry |

I got the 2 disc last nite and i remembered just how much i loved this movie. Jessica Biel was so great, as was the rest of teh cast, and Leatherface looked great. The scenes with R Lee Emery still make me cringe, the jump scenes still made me jump, and the big chase sequence was as tense as it was teh first time. This is definitly one of my favorite movies of recent memory, I can't wait to watch it again! 9/10 and most likely a 10/10 after a few more rewatches. | | Static Link |

| Posted by: Fisting Ackbar at April 2, 2004, 2:17 pm | | Topic: THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (Jessica Biel) Forum: JoBlo | | Felt that they tried WAY too hard with grossing out the viewer instead of trying to scare them. The story itself also didn't offer too many surprises and while it had some redeeming values (the lighting, R. Lee Ermey's performance) it didn't strike me as being more than a decent slasher, with the original sawing the living crap out of this remake. | | Static Link |

I decided to go to the movies and see something that I haven't already seen. So I saw Big Fish (8/10 or B+). But I will rent this probably next week or so. But sadly, my store only got the one single disk edition for rental. They have both for purchase, but only the one disk edition for rental. That's too bad . | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Sad man at March 27, 2004, 9:15 pm | | Topic: THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (Jessica Biel) Forum: JoBlo | | The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) Plot: Almost the same as the original horror classic. A group of young friends are doomed as an unexpected "accident" leads them to a real nightmare when a family of demented people, who enjoy having human flesh for breakfast, launch and dinner, is willing to chase them and kill them in the most horrible and painfull ways. Who will survive and what will be left of them? My Thoughts: I loved the original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. In my opinion it's the second best horror movie ever...Well, that was until I saw this amazing remake. I had no idea that a remake of an already excellent film could be as good as the original product. I'm glad to be proved wrong. This new version took what was good of the old classic and made it better. For example: The characters are no longer paper thin or annoying. But, not everything is perfect. The gore here is really graphic and explicit, at least compared to the first one. What was so great about the original is that it let you... | | Read Entire Entry |
