I loved the majority of this movie, all the fight sequences were awesome and the love story was believable and I bought into it. I loved Hayden Christensen's performance as the young Darth Vader, I felt his pain. Thanks to this movie we can all say with certainty that Yoda KICKS ASS!!!! That fight sequence was totally awesome and will go down in history among Star Wars fans. This is a good movie and worthy of being a true Star Wars sequel, bring on Episode III! P.S. It was a movie that had the purpose of setting up all the major plot points. Anakin is now Obi-Wan Kenobi's apprentice, Palpatine is now Chancellor. Now, onto the really exciting second part - Attack of the Clones. This film ended up topping TPM for me for a lot of reasons. It was less kiddie and more dark. This was no surprise, since this story is ultimately leading to Anakin becoming Darth Vader. We got less of Jar Jar, more exciting action sequences, and a plot that dives deeper into what the Sith are up to. Yoda fighting was probably the highlight of the film for most people. For me, it was one of the highlights, but I was more facinated with the plot of the Clone Wars and how the Sith are ultimately behind it. The war itself was better and more grittier than the diversion battle on Naboo in Ep. I. I liked the Death Star reference too. That was a nice touch. But again, for som... | | Read Entire Entry |

First off, I am by no means one of the hardcore Star Wars fans. I do consider myself a big fan, and a big fan of sci-fi in general. But I'm not one of the die-hard fans who reads all the books, all the comics, and knows every little factoid about the entire universe. So the continuity and such doesn't bug me about Episode II. But here's what does bug me... First off, the acting. Hayden Christensen is no better than Jake Lloyd. His performance is stale, fake, and bland to no end. The story is completely nonsensical, and derivitive. Did anyone ever stop for a second and ask themselves WHY Padme even falls in love with Anakin in the first place?! He's a heartless, rude, creepy jackass. He also spends part of the time praising Obi-Wan...then he bitches about him. He spends half of his screen time making Padme uncomfortable. Then suddenly, she decides she's deeply in love with him. What? And why would Yoda fight Dooku with... | | Read Entire Entry |

It's not a bad film but it's definetly a mixed bag, and for that, I can't consider it a good movie. The visuals are amazing, truly great-looking visual effects. The action sequences are a lot of fun (especially those last 30 minutes that are just pure excitment) and the gladiator-style scene was truly impressive. I would like to see those scenes again on DVD, they are truly worth watching. But to like the film, I cannot. Because the first hour is soooo boring. The dialogue is very flat. The acting is so wooden (except for Ewan McGregor). The story is overlong, the love story does not work and overall the movie is a mixed bag.

George Lucas is slowly destroying his dynasty in my opinion. With bad casting, stupid characters (Die Jar Jar Die) and a horrible script, the series I once loved as a child has become nothing more than smack in the face. I loved the opening scene. I truly believe the movie was off to a good start until Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGreger chased that bounty hunter into the city?? From there the movie was just plain bad. Typical hollywood one liners, really awful costumes/characters and dialogue. One scene that had me laughing so hard I was literally in tears was when Count Dooku was on that little bicycle-like speeder trying to escape yoda and company. I couldn't help but hear that background music from the wizard of oz going through my head. The music where the witch was circling the tornado. A few of the lines were cheesy attempts at romance, but came off rather lame. And there were a couple things I thought rather dumb, like when the creature in the arena slashes Amidala's back, the gashes appeared as if they may cause her to bleed to death. Later there is no blood and her shirt is cut so her flat stomach(not that I minded) would just so happen to be revealed. Other than that, I thought It was a great film. And Samuel L. totally kicked ass!!! Oh, If you haven't seen it yet, The Yoda Lightsaber scene alone is well worth the ten bucks!!! | | Static Link |

I found the script so weak it made me cringe at times. The script was mainly made up of long speaches that were an absolute bore. To me it was like lucas did`nt even care, the film had famous actors (good actors but unfortunetly the shit script did not do them justice) fantastic fx and visually stunning scenes, however this does not make a good film unless the script is up to sratch.
I believe all lucas was interested in was making money.

We see Mace Windu alot more in the film and is in some good action scenes but Jar Jar doesn't die in any slow, painful and gruesome way and not once is there a "Meesa gonna die!!!" in the film - he's perfectly safe and is never in danger...but he's actually not as annoying and is hardly in the film!
The film is a little long and Anakin has finally learnt not to say "Yipee!" every two or three minutes which is good but the dialogue still isn't that great. But the new Anakin just really annoyed me sometimes...but he's better than the last one.
George Lucas' attempts to make anakin kinda failed really. Anakin is not a bad guy, but is, in fact 100% good. He suffers only from raging impatience ect. What nineteen year old doesn?t? So, unsurprisingly, I went ga-ga over this new installment of STAR WARS. I'm not going to summarize the plot again, so let's just cut the crap. The action is very well done, the story moves at a decent pace, acting is appropriate, with Ewan McGregor being the most likeable character. The movie's filled with many cute moments and with many adrenaline pumping battles. John Williams's score masterfully adds emotion and a sense of connection to the original trilogy AND phantom menace. The movie leaves me craving madly for EPISODE III. It works. ATTACK OF THE CLONES, Lucas's latest story in the STAR WARS saga, works. But it works when you leave your pretentiousness out of the theatre. This is a movie to be enjoyed as a child. Enjoy it. It's overproduced and badly written, but there's something more than that, something deeper. What it comes down to, I believe, is the action. Star Wars films have always been based around action, and only EMPIRE manages to suceed in producing beliveable emotion. But the action in this film is so detached, there is such an overrun sense of CGI that there is no human element, nothing to grab onto and recognize. And that's what made the original three films, maybe only because of limited technological resources, the films were available for the human responder, you can actually see Mark Hamill hold up the lightsabre and the background behind him is one that is real. That's why the title ATTACK OF THE CLONES is so fitting, it feels like a clone, there's barely anything human about it. I have a theory that when all six episodes are made, Episode I will stand alone as a prologue to the whole thing with little actual impact on the rest of the series. A bold, and dark installment in the Star Wars saga, Attack Of The Clones brings to mind another darker installment the Empire Strikes Back! Lucas has done an outstanding job this time, he geared it more towards adults and less to the kiddies, (less Jar Jar screen time is a good thing!), the computer effects are breathtaking and the storyline is not as morose and overly complicated as Episode I. Star Wars: Episode II-Attack of the Clones feels more like a Star Wars movie and far surpasses the dissapointing The Phantom Menace....but to be honest still doesn't beat any of the films of the original trilogy. That is due to the poor and benign script and the rather stale and wooden acting. In the first set of films it seemed the actors were having fun delivering there lines especially Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher...and this is what these two recent films lack. There is none of that cocky, witty and joyous attitude. I thought this hampered Episode 1 especially Ewan McGregor and Liam Neeson...but this time around Ewan McGregor does it better especially with his early scenes with Annakin. We start to see the younger Obi-Wan Kenobi as we knew him in Episode IV and McGregor seems taylor made for this part. The same can be said for Hayden Christensen who has that arrogant brooding attitude that draws him to the dark side...and I liked him in this role. Alth... | | Read Entire Entry |

1: As a whole series of films I have no really stong feelings about Star Wars. I'm not a huge fan, nor do I hate them. 2: I HATE Star Wars Episode 1, hate it, with an undying passion. 3: Empire is my favourite Star Wars film, and probably my favourite sci-fi film. On to the Review. WARNING There may be spoilers Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones
Dir: George Lucas I walked into this film expecting very little, I hadn't really liked the trailers, and as I said above I hated the previous film, but given wildly differing reports of it's quality I decided to give it a go. It started badly. The first shot is entirely CG and feels like the intro to a computer game, but the film swiftly finds it's feet with a thrilling opening assasination attempt on Padme (Natalie Portman). As I watched the opening hour I felt more and more like I was watching a computer game, the dialogue was clunky, even Ewan McGregor (who is 100 times better here than in episode 1) had a h... | | Read Entire Entry |

The movie starts you out right into the action with the chase scene as ObiWan and Anakin bolt through mesmerizing scenery to hunt down Senator Amidala's attacker. Then it slows down considerably for a while which was a little disappointing. It was like having a massive visual orgasm and then you go through withdrawal for the next hour or so as you have to wade through the robotic love quagmire that Lucas insists on dragging out forever. The plot needed this but true Star Wars fans could have lived without as much of it. I mean for God's sake when Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman where sitting together on top of that grassy hill, on Naboo, I kept waiting for Julie Andrews to come running out singing. I know all of the critics keep slamming this great film because of the bad dialogue and somewhat flat acting, but no real Star Wars fan is expecting Shakespear when they walk into these movies. They want... | | Read Entire Entry |

i was very disapointed and i don't think the only reason is that i'm no longer a 12 year old boy... i even fell asleep (serious) for god's sake, in a star wars flick!!! sleep didn't last long because the bud i saw it with woke me up and i managed to see it till the end. so i didn't miss that much (anakin and padme frolicking in lake como - looking too much like lake como).
save for ewan mcgregor, christopher lee and Temuera Morrison nobody seem to enjoy what they are doing. too self conscious (direction, acting). takes itself way too seriously about being a classic. horrible editing (critical moment cut off). bad logic (yoda picks up his cane after flying around??? ok he's an eccentric!!!). How the heck did the 2 armies get in front of each other??? what? no planning? no strategies? they just got in front of each other and started battle? not to mention Padme's laughably weird costumes choices... yes, overall, it looks great but i just wish that t... | | Read Entire Entry |
| Posted by: TheFirstBigW at May 18, 2002, 11:41 pm | | Topic: Reviews: Attack of the Clones Forum: JoBlo | This movie (Star Wars:Episode II) was nothing short of incredible, and I'd rate it as the 2nd best film of the series to date!
Unlike Episode I (which had a few great moments but was admittedly a little disappointing), Episode II has it all: mind-blowing action, characters you really care about, and a lot of great humor.
It's great to see Obi-Wan as a fully developed Jedi kicking some serious butt (Ewan McGregor is brilliant in the role), Hayden Christensen (sp?) delivered just the right amount of intensity for the role, and (as has been indicated many times up to now) Yoda delivers a scene that has to be seen to be believed.
If Episode I was like a glossy travel brochure of the Star Wars universe, Episode II fully transports you there and takes you on one incredible ride after another. I've already seen it twice and definitely plan on seeing it again! My ranking of the Star Wars films: 1st place: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back 2nd place (tie): Episode II - Attack of the Clones & Episod... | | Read Entire Entry |

There were many reasons why I might’ve disliked it. I didn’t like the last instalment; the film opened to mediocre reviews and looked more like a cheesy love chick flick to me than a Star Wars movie. But, it’s still Star Wars so I had to see it. What did I think? I’ll tell you what I thought. This movie was marvellous! It’s a big improvement on Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. I found it very hard to find flaws in this movie, but I did find a couple that weighed it down a little in comparison to the other Star Wars films (meaning 4, 5 and 6 because this one is far better than Episode I!). The love dialogue was a little cheesy at times and the movie had some laughable scenes. One scene in particular was meant to be very emotional but it ended with a bit of an unintentional laugh. Spoilers I also didn’t like the scene where R2D2 “flies.” So that’s all that lowered this movie’s gra... | | Read Entire Entry |
| Posted by: The UserName at May 18, 2002, 9:53 pm | | Topic: Reviews: Attack of the Clones Forum: JoBlo | | 9/10. I never though i'd ever give a star wars movie a score like that since i dnt really like the movies. But after seeing this my mind is changed. I am going to rent all of the Star War movies and wtahc them again(since last time i saw them i was really young and didnt no shit). Anyway, this movie was awesome! Ofcourse, great effects. Everything looked SO real. The action scenes were also amazing. I heard people saying that the dialogue was corny. I don't agree with them, except for maybe one scene(the one near the fireplace). The cast was great. Natalie Portman was great(and hot) and so was Ewan Mcgreggor(except he wasnt hot) but Christenses was great. He played anakin so well. It was fun seeing how Anakin would slowly become darth vader and join the dark side throought the movie. But the scene that really ended this kickass movie with a bang was the one with yoda. I mean the second you see that little guy walk in you know that there is going to be some serious ass whooping. The whole theatre was chearing... | | Read Entire Entry |

Jackson, Christopher Lee, Frank Oz, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, Pernilla August, Ahmed Best, Oliver Ford Davies, Jimmy Smiths, & Temuera Morrison. However, things don't go as planned. Obi-Wan is sent to seek out the assassin while Anakin stays to protect Padme. I am one of the very few who enjoyed "The Phantom Menace". It wasn't a great movie, but it was fun. My only pet peeve with t... | | Read Entire Entry |
| Posted by: waynesmale at May 18, 2002, 1:00 pm | | Topic: Reviews: Attack of the Clones Forum: JoBlo | | I can not believe anyone is bagging this great film, Clones was a great film better then The Empire Strikes Back any day. REASON WHY A NEW HOPE- Can stand alone wiht out the other films but seems like it has fallin short since the killer of his ( so called father Anakin Skywalker ) and Obi-wan has got away The Empire Strikes Back - Face it this movie just is not as good without Jedi to back it up and i dont care what anyone says empire is a great film and has a great cliffhanger at the end but Jedi gives it the perfect edge and makes it complet. Return of the Jedi- All round great film story is alittle weak but is meant to be since the main focus is on Luke and Vader. This also had the BEST ending by far and the best twist of the saga even more so then Vader turning out to be Anakin, When he kills the Emperor and does in the sith it was just the perfect way to end a great saga and then we see the true hero of the film (REASON WHY ITS CALLED RETURN OF THE JEDI)return to the good side of the force just before ... | | Read Entire Entry |
