The bugs looked cool, until they interacted with something real . . . they did a better job in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

The Mist is the most underrated movie of the year. It’s been a while since i see a movie that good. I regret not seeing it in theaters.

After hearing about how awesome and shocking the ending was I just thought it was kind of stupid how the moment they ran out of gas they just gave up and then like 15 seconds later the mist cleared. I would rather they just run ...

They should have stuck with Kings ending. Far more disturbing. I totally agree, Kings ending had a wonderful ambiguity about it . . . made it a lot more effective and chilling . . . because we do not know if it is a local event or if the mist is permanent and growing.

Dont agree with the previous poster. The intensity builds up to the end and then just explodes. Not a lot of movies leave me in that type of state. I remember coming back home and not able to sleep due to the movie.

Not a great film . . . shit not even a good film. They should have stuck with the King ending. All the hype lead to a major let down.

The movie left a bad taste in my mouth (in a good way). I just felt emotionally drained, pretty excellent movie. No one should be allowed to adapt Stephen King except Darabont

I loved the movie but hated the ending. The ending in the King story is a lot better. Most of it was a good B monster movie with a little social commentary thrown in, but the heavy handedness of the final 10 minutes just made me want to throw tomatoes at the screen.

I enjoyed this film a lot more than I thought I would. The acting was great and I dug the tragic ending. The only scene I thought was laughable was the squid/tenecal (spell?) scene. I thought the CGI was pretty bad in that scene.

I agree GodOfWar. I saw this back in November and I'm still shaking. I don't think there's ever been a film that has affected me like The Mist. Just completely shocking and emotional. I also don't see it as just a B horror film. I consider this one of the best films of 2007 and just because it is gory and violent doesn't mean it can't be one of the best of 2007, which is what some people seem to be on the fence about. The Mist is a classic that will be talked about for years, especially once it hits DVD and everyone sees it.

I hope this one gains a larger following over the next couple of years - saddened that it wasn't a box office success and received pretty mixed reviews amongst the critics & public - and becomes a cult genre classic like The Thing or Night of the Living Dead; it's the best horror movie (in the purest sense) of the past 10 years (surpassing the overrated The Others and The Sixth Sense, and all the latter-day splatter flicks that pass themselves off as "horror" nowadays), and one of the very few in recent memory (the other is the spooky and poignant The Orphanage) to drain me emotionally after it ends.

I didn't really get into the characters enough (although I was waiting for Marcia Gay Harden's character to die the whole movie) to feel anything other than temporary shock at the ending. And I also thought it killed the apocalyptic, depressing-in-a-bigger-sense thing that the movie had going for it. But it was still overall a good movie, and one of the more respectable of the recent "monsters invade a small town" B-horror movies.

Yeah, Thomas Jane is amazing. The ending was a blow to gut that took me a while to get over, too. I was slack-jawed. And neither did I see it coming. I usually behind the curve, too, since I can rarely go to the theater to see movies during their run. So, I'm like you about the forums, not being about to participate very often in current movie discussions.

I know, his performance was amazing to say the least. I'm so glad that someone else thought so. Yes, I see the tragedy in that bit. Spoilers Below [swipe to read] I really thought that his shouting was gouing to be heard by the creatures. He was begging for death. But then the army rolled in. Imagine doing that? SHIT! But he wasn't to know. This movie opend today in my city. I know that the US folks got it last year. We're a bit behind in our movies, I know. That's what makes it very hard fro me on this forum alot of the time. Because movies and stuff that you have all either seen and now have on dvd, we haven't even seen yet here. Spoilers Below [swipe to read] With Jane's boy. I was glad that he wasn't awake when they stopped at their house near the end. I was thinking I hope he doesn't see his mother dead and cocooned on the wall. That was sad as well.

MAJOR SPOILERS! Yeah, Jane's performance is what makes the ending of the movie so powerful and haunting. He was really excellent in the movie. Probably his best performance ever and a really underrated piece of acting. The ending was so sad and chilling yet I have to admit that I kinda laughed only because of the irony and because I pretty much saw it coming. As soon as the others all shoot themselves and he gets out of the car I thought, I bet help/rescue is going to come out of the fog/mist. And indeed that did happen. So it was kind of predictable but still very powerful.

It's been only a few hours since I saw "The Mist." And I can think of nothing else but that movie and it's ending. My God, I never expected that to happen. The entire movie I really enjoyed. I haven't seen a movie based on a Stephen King novel since "Desperation." The Mist was scary, gory and genuinely frightening at times. It was a long movie, but that didn't bother me. It was the last 20 minutes or so that really got to me and shook me up emotionally. Daymn! Did the movie affect anyone else like this? And what did you all think of the movie as a whole and the ending? Spoilers Below [swipe to read] Those creatures from the other dimension were all terrifying and so relentless in their attack on those trapped people. I mean they were everywhere. The last huge monster was intimidating and so freaky. After that, all seemed lost when they eventually ran out of gas and decided to end it all. Then when Thomas Jane killed the occupants of his car, including his only son. That got to me really b...
