I didn't really warm up to story until the rooftop romantic dinner and then before you knew it the story was over. I don't think Meg Ryan was really heart and soul into this film as something seemed definitely missing from her character - like a little spirit, I think Meg is getting a little tired of these fluff pieces. Hugh Jackman also seemed pretty bland in his characterization as Duke Leopld, he wasn't bad, but he wasn't good either. I did like the scene where he pulls Meg on horse to catch purse snatcher through Central Park, loved the music and cinematography of film and especially that scene. Liev Schreiber, as the time traveller, had his one and only good moment when telling mental aide about time travel. And Kate's Charlie didn't appeal to me at all. Good idea for a film and had it's moments, but most of film just didn't mesh for me. | | Static Link |

Though not as good as some of the greats such as When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail, K&L brings you an alomost original idea with a witty and entertaining cast. Breken Meyer was very entertaing. i was expecting the movie to take a few wrong turns and then it didnt. Cute movie. 6/10 | | Static Link |

There were a few good parts and a few funny parts, particularly the scenes with Liev Schreiber (will someone give this guy a lead role, please?), and Hugh Jackman was convincing as the Duke Of Albany. However, for the most part, this was a predictable and dull rehash of Just Visiting. There should have been more "fish out of water" jokes, something that the other movie accomplished quite well. Also, I'm still wondering if Breckin Meyer's presence served a purpose -- I'm pretty much decided upon not. Definately just a movie for the females. | | Static Link |

Well, I was thinking I was going to hate this film, but I didn't. I thought it was quite enjoyable. To be quite honest, the performances were the main reason I liked this film. Everybody played very funny & likable characters. But the best was Hugh Jackman. I mean, he just steals the damn show. I didn't think Kate & Leopold was a great romantic/comedy, but it was a decent one that shows you a good time. So, if you want to have that same experience I had, then check this film out. Kate & Leopold is an ok flick for what it is, basically a chic flick. meg Ryan is good in her usual role as a New York gal who hasn't had much luck with guys. We have seen the fish out of water concept many times before and here it is no different, when we see Hugh Jackman(the star of the show) switching on TV and being startled by his unfamiliar surroundings. The film is not really about the present vs. 1876 but more about manners and integrity, and Jackman shines as this part of his persona. I also liked Breken Meyer as Ryan's brother, his scenes with Jackman are fun to watch. Overall this is a good date movie, but by the end, I kinda didn't care anymore. | | Static Link |

The last half hour was slow, concentrating on the romance aspect. But, it didn't ruin the movie. Overall, I came out of the theater feeling like I had been truly entertained and that it was worth the cost of a ticket. I enjoyed the character of Leopold. It was fun watching him show up other guys with his gallantry, knowledge of art and French. I always find Meg Ryan annoying, but she was far less annoying in this one. It's a good movie to see with a daughter or niece. My daughter loved it. | | Static Link |

Meg Ryan stars as Kate McKay, a marketing researcher whose had very bad luck with love. Her exboyfriend Stuart (Liev Schreiber) lives above her in her New York apartment building and has found a time portal that transports him back to 1876 in which he encounters Leopold, the Duke Of Albany , played by the amazing Hugh Jackman who follows him back to the present day. One thing leads to another and well, you got it.....Kate and Leopold fall in love. A very interesting aspect of the film is that Leopold, the Duke of Albany in the film, is the man credited with the invention of the elevator and when he comes to the present day, time is changed and the elevators don't work. It was an original aspect to the film, and showed that changing time, can change how the world works. The chemistry between Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman is very strong and their romance is very sweet. The film has loads of comic relief, especially Kates brother Charl... | | Read Entire Entry |

A Time Travel Romance in the tradition of Sowewhere in Time or Time after Time, K&L will please Meg Ryan Fans, Hugh Jackman fans, and sappy romance fans. The audience where I saw a sneak preview laughed continuously and broke into applause in several spots, including the end. I'm a Jackman girl, so had to be sopped up off the floor with dry towels after the show--Bring a date to cuddle with; there'll be plenty of opportunity! (Awwww...) | | Static Link |
