It took time to develop it's characters and that's something you don't see in a regular popcorn action flick. XXX is filled with snowboards, motorbikes, and cars and if these things don't appeal to you, then don't watch this movie. XXX appeals to mostly teenagers and that's why all those bad reviews are up there, so if you're a teenager, don't listen to those reviews because they're just a bunch of grown-ups who have outgrown mindless action flicks. I'm a teenager and I liked it a lot! Overall, XXX is a movie that tries to appeal to mostly teenagers, and it does get the job done at appealing to them. XXX- 8/10 | | Static Link |

I was excited, thinking it’ll be the ultimate action film of the year. Being, also, a fan of Vin Diesel raised the level of my anticipation so high I couldn’t wait for the official DVD release to catch it. Vin Diesel, the super-cool action star, proved himself first through noticeable supporting roles in films like BOILER ROOM and SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. His first starring role in PITCH BLACK marked his official “birth” as “the next big star”. Then he started corporating with director Joel Cohen and scored high in THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS, which still had a youthful and playful sense in it. Now comes xXx just one year after their latest film, and what a disappointment it is. The plot finds Diesel playing Xander Cage, an extreme sports man who lives each day to its fullest, enjoying his stunts and risks. Xander seems to be proud of it so much he has friends to tape his actions for him. He’s so well known that a computer company (or so!... | | Read Entire Entry |

This movie is one of those edge-of-your-seat flicks that you sit and watch for the amusement of it. Vin Diesel delivers his usual powerful punch as the lead, where he's in the middle of a deadly game with fast cars, spy toys, mind games, and everything else you can think of. Take a tough-as-nails, smart yet deadly thug and put him through trials to put him on the right side of the law, and you will find someone like Vin Diesel. Sure he's a lot like he was in The Fast and the Furious, but so what, he's good as what he does. Sure there are some corny one-liners, as well as a typical spy plot, and a lot of others things that make this project... well.... typical, but do you get tired of the neverending James Bond movies? It wasn't even passable as mindless entertainment. The dialogue was wretched and the plot was confusing, not because it was deep or anything, but because it had so many holes that it just didn't add up. It was also too long, this 2 hour MTV music video could have been cut down to 2 minutes. I enjoyed The Fast & The Furious (8/10 or B+), but xXx makes The Fast & The Furious look like American Beauty. Some of the scenes were interesting and Asia Argento was easy on the eyes. But other than that I really can't think of much I liked about it. Although the ending does give me hope that the sequel might be better. But I still won't rush out to see it, if at all I will check it out when it hits video shelves. But this movie isn't half bad. The plot is thinner than hell, but the action makes up for it. I'm a big stickler for action. Some of it, okay a lot of it, was way far fetched but most of it was probably intentional. Hell, it didn't look like Vin Diesel even got a sunburn from all the explosions he drove a motorcycle through. But all of it was still cool. If this movie is supposed to be compared to James Bond, it doesn't come close. Bonds' gadgets were better (not to mention more creative and used more), chase scenes were better, and villains were better. Oh the 'Q' version in XXX wasn't funny but a little annoying (not Jar Jar Binks annoying, but annoying nevertheless).
