| Posted by: REAL_XYZ at September 12, 2004, 5:59 pm | | Topic: Reviews: Armageddon Forum: JoBlo | | First off, I normally HATE movies that are associated with Michael Bay or (especially) Jerry Bruckheimer. However, I liked this movie, and that's pretty impressive since I do not care much for a few actors in this flick (Owen Wilson, for example). This movie had the right mix of action, background story, and (yes) a little romance. I cared about the main characters, so I had an interest in their fate. That says a lot for movies these days. Liv Tyler is yummy in her role, so that adds to the overall satisfaction factor. Considering the type of movie that this is, I have to say that it's a strong 9/10. | | Static Link |

| Posted by: Genghis Khan at June 7, 2004, 9:24 pm | | Topic: Reviews: Armageddon Forum: JoBlo | | This is a great movie. Period. The acting was right on with some of the characters being outright hilarious (the Russian guy comes to mind) and some characters being serious and all playing their parts with at least some believability. The special effects were awesome (loved the scene where Paris got nuked by a meteor, that was f**king great! ). The story was great and even though I've already scene this movie twice, th suspenseful scenes are stilll suspenseful. In fact, this is I think the only movie I have ever ALMOST cried in and this movie deserves a 10/10 just for dong that alone. An absolutely great movie! If you haven't seen it yet, see it now. | | Static Link |

It does everything right, and I can't see why some people dislike it. It had action, comedy, drama, it had everything! It had an all-star cast of Bruce Willis, Liv Tyler, Owen Wilson, Ben Affleck and they made this movie even better! If you haven't seen this movie, rent it immediately! It'll be a movie you remember forever! Armageddon- 10/10 | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Jedi at June 14, 2003, 6:56 am | | Topic: Reviews: Armageddon Forum: JoBlo | | Armageddon 7/10 Some critics said that Armageddon is one of the worst films EVER made. Some said it’s a silly popcorn entertainment that is just fun to watch. Others went further describing it as one of the best science-fiction action movies of recent years. Audiences, on the other hand, were generally pleased with it, as Armageddon was a major hit wherever released. It was on Empire magazine’s survey of the 100 greatest movies ever, and according to their readers’ opinions, it ranked at number 79. In the same survey Armageddon was named as the tenth worst film to be ever made. Definitely confusing! I was really excited about seeing it. Truth be said, I had very low expectations and thought it would be another big-budget turkey in the likes of Godzilla and Independence Day. But given the background of the cast and crew I was just not sure what it would turn out to be. After all, director Michael Bay is well known for his stylish and highly entertaining action flicks like Bad Boys and The Rock; both of which ... | | Read Entire Entry |

| Posted by: Dorian at May 23, 2002, 12:43 am | | Topic: Reviews: Armageddon Forum: JoBlo | | I couldn't really take this movie seriously, I'm not sure whether it was supposed to be a drama or whatnot. The fact that nothing could go right for those guys who were trying to save the earth became predictable, and the predictability is what cracked me up so much. I didn't find Bruce Willis' act believable, nor did I feel sympathy for any of the other characters. But did I enjoy this movie? Yes, I did. Armageddon was an unexpected comedy to me. And I would watch it again. [This message has been edited by Dorian (edited 05-23-2002).] | | Static Link |

I detest bruce willis I think he is an overated so called star and Ben affleck is just eye candy. I really liked the song "I dont want to miss a thing." The movie was indeed predicatable. I dont think they should have killed BW even though i cant stand him. Steve Buscemi was quite beleive able really gross teeth and a greasy personality mmmhmmm he gets better and better. Any how it was exciting and I do recommend this movie if you like excitment and dont wanna think too much. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Aragorn at February 1, 2002, 3:20 pm | | Topic: Reviews: Armageddon Forum: JoBlo | | Okay yeah, the film isn't exactly going to be a critical success but it still kept me entertained throughout. It's a pity that the film's interest peaked during the training sequences!! Some people seem to have missed the whole point. Clay (I think that's who it was) listed all plenty of "errors" which were in fact all perfectly explainable. Like the whole gravity thing? I'm sure the screenwriters would be chuffed with that complaint given the effort during the training bits to emphasise the booster packs the teams will be wearing to hold them onto the asteroid. The fact that the vehicle flies over the chasm is because they switch the boosters off. What did you think they were fighting to turn them back on again for?? So they wouldn't just float off into space! One thing that really did get under my skin is the way Bruckheimer films are so American-ised, so safe. Does Jerry honestly think all Egyptians stand in front of pyramids and all French people where striped shirts and jaunty berets?? Give us... | | Read Entire Entry |
| Posted by: James Logan at January 7, 2002, 4:31 pm | | Topic: Reviews: Armageddon Forum: JoBlo | | Unlike a lot of people, I kind of liked ARMAGEDDON. If you want entertainment, see that flick, and you'll sure get what you asked for. Michael Bay does here what he does best: pure, dumb action. Besides, the suspense is a good one, and the script isn't bad at all for a movie of this type. Steve Buscemi is hilarious (the best actor in the flick, I'm tellin' ya), Bruce Willis is perfect in one more "yipi-ka-yeah" role, Liv Tyler and Ben Affleck play their parts ok, and other background characters are nicely played by familiar faces (Owen Wilson and Billy Bob Thornton would be two of 'em). The soundtrack is good, the special effects are amazing, the action is breathtaking and the ending is corny as hell: what do the people ask for more? 8/10 | | Static Link |

What an entertaining and edge of your seat ride!!! Damn, this movie was good with great acting, excellant dialoge, and breathtaking Special Effects..... The thing to remember is that the movie is nothing but a popcorn flick with an entertaining story.. That's the main thing that drew me in the story was cool and at times pretty funny.. It's emotional, cool, and funny all at the same time. I absolutely love Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck in everything their in, and this movie was no exception they were both great, and Liv Tyler looked fuckin hot as hell here ... Michael Bay is a good director, he's given us two back to back entertaining, fun, and emotional movies with Pearl Harbor and this one... FINAL GRADE: 8/10 | | Static Link |

| Posted by: SpongeMike182 at January 4, 2002, 1:51 pm | | Topic: Reviews: Armageddon Forum: JoBlo | | Armageddon 8/10 Armageddon is a great film. I liked it. the story is about a NASA official who finds out that an asteroid is going to hit the Earth in 18 days. He hires Harry Stamper, a man who runs an oil company, to go into space to drill a hole through the asteroid. He agrees to do it under one condition: he chooses the crew. The crew contains a cowboy, a mama's boy, a pimp, and the one guy dating harry's Daughter. When their in space they have a rough landing and only have a certain amount of time to drill a hole into the asteroid and put the nuke in it. The special effects for this film are amazing. Bruce Willis gives a great performance. Armageddon and Deep Impact are way different. Deep Impact is more dramatic, WHile Armageddon is more action. If you like action you'll love Armageddon. | | Static Link |

I can get into a summer popcorn movie with the best of them but this movie is baaaaadddddd. I hate the way Bay never trusts any of his actors or screenwriters (not that I thought the story was anything but awful) he has to do rapid edits, cuts, etc. The characters were unbelievable, the story was corny. Oh just could not stand it. (3/10) | | Static Link |

It was still a fun, amusing, good ol' time. Bruce willis was okay, Ben Afflack sucks and is annoying but he didn't bother that much, and steve busemi was hilarious. Fun movie, better then the boring Deep Impact. | | Static Link |

I watched this the same day as I saw Saving Private Ryan, and what made me hate it so much was the fact that I saw it after SPR. The movie was long, it bored me in more than a few spots. The characters were cliches of course. I think it was Ben Affleck who ruined the movie. He really sucks as an actor. Has anyone seen him play any other character in any other recent movies other than the "obnoxious 20-something". It is getting really old. 4/10. I hate it because it tries to be something it's not. It tries to be a big budget action flick with emotion, but fails. The film is a 2 1/2 hour assult on the senses. It's just a feature length rock video. Yeah the special effects were decent but...*shrug* 4/10. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: RicochetShaw at November 14, 2001, 11:08 pm | | Topic: Reviews: Armageddon Forum: JoBlo | | Ugghhh. This movie is on my top ten most hated films ever. I hated it soo much! I first walked into the theatre with high expectations beause people I knew raved about it. I was shocked at how bad it was. The directing was extremely shabby and the whole story was just hilariously bad. An asteroid the size of Texas isn't discovered until less than a month before its supposed collision with earth. And they teach diggers in a matter of days to do an impossible task of blasting off and land on a rapidly moving asteroid to blow it up instead of hiring astronauts who all ready know how to operate a space craft(much more complicated than digging) to dig. WHY WAS IT BAD? The story was so unbelievable and stupid!!! And was the ending supposed to be touching or something? HA!! Maybe if Tyler's terrible performance was believable in any way I might have felt a little sorry for her character.
