Identity is one of the better thrillers to come out in a long time. the story was very engrossing and i never got bored through the running time, there was some nice action but also some great character scenes. the acting was also excellent, all of the cast did a good job. the script was also good with some intelligent points. i also really liked the ending 9/10

"Identity" starts out as a typical thriller where one by one the ten guests at a Nevada desert motel start dying except for the first couple of minutes at beginning where a murderer is being asked questions by his psychiatrist. Then at the end the motel story and the hearing story come together in a sheer genius of a conclusion! But, the nice thing is you have a couple of twists inside the big major twist to keep you very interested all the way through the movie. John Cusak did a good job as the calmest and sanest of the bunch. My favorite was Amanda Peet who was a former Vegas call girl and also liked John Hawkes who played the fake hotel manager. I liked the visual look of the film of the rainy rundown motel and the music to convey the sinister feel of the film. This small, little ninety minute film was really a nice surprise. Grade: 7.5/10 B

Ten strangers all end up at the same Motel after a storm prevents them from traveling out of the area. Shortly after getting acquainted with one another the ten travelers start to die off one by one. The survivors must start to unravel the mystery that has presented to them. Let me start off by saying this movie truly surprised me. I bought it a few weeks ago, and just popped it in tonight after getting home from school. I wasn't really expecting too much, but I am truly baffled at how well this movie was written, and the direction Mr. Mangold took with this spectacular film. The script is phenomenal, kudos Michael Cooney who wrote this brilliant story. The dialogue is very well written, and lays out the plot beautifully. Identity never felt boring, or sluggish, it kept a perfect pace through out the whole picture, and it painted it exquisitely. I was on the edge of my seat just about the whole time. Identity had me guessing the whole way through. The rain in the movie created an amazing environment. It was ...

Identity is definitely one of the most intelligent horror/suspense movies to come out of Hollywood in a long time. It's been awhile since I've seen it, so this review won't be too long because it's not fresh in my head. Let me start off by saying that every single part in this movie is awesome. The atmosphere, the acting, cinematography, just all incredible! I loved how you never knew which character was the killer. I think that people who are good at figuring out movies that require you to guess who the killer is, might guess the person, but you will never be positive. I know I thought about the person for a little while, but I quickly disregarded it. If you like scary movies, and the ones you've seen lately are just not very good, go see this one! It's definitely one of the best movies of this genre since The Ring. Identity- 9/10

8/10 I bet the people in charge of marketing had a hard time thinking of a description for this movie. It can't truly be given a plot or a good catchline (the little quote on movie posters, ie. "Evil never dies") without spoiling the movie. With that in mind. I will spoil the f*** out of this movie. . . . . . . .. . . . . .. . . . . . Simply put: The motel situation, which are led to believe is reality, is just a figment of a serial killers imagination. This killer has dissassociative identity disorder. One of his many identities is the killer, his other identities aren't (though they aren't all good either, none of his identies are purely good). Psychologists put the killer in a hypnosis state so that his identities could meet in the motel situation. The purpose being to eliminate all but one character. Hopefully, the killer will be eliminated meaning no need for capital punishment of the man. That is the actual plot. One would expect that to be a twist enough, but its not. There is another twist ...

Wow. . .what a captivating a confusing movie. This film had an extremely smart premise, people get stuck at a hotel then start being killed off (Genius), and the ending man did I feel stupid after they told you. . . . GREAT JOB! The acting was flawless. Direction. . .beautiful. Great captivating and creative film 8/10

Identity POSSIBLE SPOILERS THROUGHOUT I went in to this movie unfortunately knowing the twist ending, so on that point the film was slightly ruined for me, but it certainly didn't stop me from enjoying, and being engaged by this creepy thriller. James Mangold (Kate & Leopold, Girl Interrupted) has certainly changed his tune from his last directorial efforts, and he proves himself to be a wise choice for for a film of this genre - a thriller, which is essentially a horror movie. As well, writer Michael Cooney (Jack Frost 1 and 2) proves he just needs a good story to write out a decent script, as his previous efforts were laughable, whilst here, he's right on the money. Acting wise, the film doesn't disappoint with everyone pulling their weight, though the smaller characters aren't as well developed. John Cusack (Serendipity, High Fidelity) never disappoints and here was no different, and it was good to see this genre treat him well. He was a likeable, but of course suspicious character that came through o...

Was anyone else confused at the end of this movie? because i sure was, i won't say nothing about it, just that it's confusing. Apart from that it is a very good movie, i liked the beginning of the movie how everybodys actions was related to each other. The death scenes are mainly off screen but the one i think they should have shown was the baseball bat killing that looked like it could have freaked alot of people out Overall an good movie which i am guessing will entertain alot of people. 7/10

What a great movie! Definately not what I had expected. I was nervous that Clea Duvall might be in another bad movie (Ghosts of Mars) ..bc everything I've seen her in has been great~ (The Faculty, But I'm a Cheerleader, Girl, Interrupted, 13 Conversations About one Thing, ..shall I go on...) The girl is soooo talented, and I love her so much~ I wish she had a bigger part but for the role she had she carried it out well. Anyway, I predicted everything that happened in this movie from start until..the last 5 minutes...that's what really got me...what made me mad was the cliches they through in ....like when Amanda Peet runs out and we get that WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR HUH scene lol.......that's just the vibe i got lol....and how we knew who was going to die, practically in what order. Overall, this movie kept me entertained...and will definately prob. not be in my 10 of this year..but an honorable mention! 8/10

A Film Review of... IDENTITY (8/10) No Spoilers Attatched Caught in a savage rainstorm, ten travelers are forced to seek refuge at a strange desert motel. They soon realize they've found anything but shelter. There is a killer among them and, one by one, they are murdered. As the storm rages on and the dead begin to outnumber the living, one thing becomes clear: Each of them was drawn to the motel, not by accident or circumstance, but by forces beyond imagination, forces that promise anyone who survives a mind-bending and terrifying destiny. I went into IDENTITY expecting an updated version of the film CLUE, only with a dollop more scares a pinch of more mystery. Our story begins with the gathering of our 10 characters who we stick with throughout, cleverly showing us it was more than coinsidence that they ended up at the motel on that dark stormy night. The pace picks up rather quick and the guests start getting bumped off in a fresh and inventive style (baseball bats, a rather large hunting knife, hits 'n'...

When I saw the preview to this movie, I already wanted to watch it. I knew that this wasn't gonna be your typical slasher flick. Don't get me wrong, there was enough gore to satisfy this schmoe, but not too much where it just gets ridiculous. After viewing this movie, I categorized it. Not in the thriller or horror category, but in the mind-fuck category. This movie was brilliant. The development of each character and how each one ended up in that flea bag motel was well done. You get to know their past, not too much, but enough to get a sense and feeling of that character. The setting of the movie was also perfect. Where better then in the middle of the desert in the middle of a huge thunderstorm completely cut off from civilization. It certainly set the mood for a creepy, dark, thriller. I'm also a big fan of John (the underrated actor) Cusack, and Ray (Go see Narc) Liotta. Who both performed their roles in this movie very well. This is one of those movies where I don't wanna talk too much about it because...

Great. It's all I could say after watching this utterly brilliant film, the cast worked so well together. I liked John Cuzack's performance, he was so intense. I loved every minute he was on screen. Great actor. Another great actor, who just about nearly stole the show, was Ray Liotta. Man, this man was creepy with his blue eyes and almost-calm attitude. Great dude. The rest did okay, but these two stood out more to me and they worked so well onscreen. Great. The setting is just amazing, its a dark and stormy night in the motel. I love these settings, they always work for atmospheric movies like these. But damn, that kid!! Like I said, this was just a great film. Great, great, great. 9/10

**SPOILERS** Gonna keep it short. The movie had me until they fucked it up with the whole multiple personalities thing... bad bad bad move. Here is a chance for a movie to be truly creepy and scary with a great cast and some intelligent writing, and then they turn around and basically say "we're tired. We can't come up with a decent spooky ending, we're going to fuck with your mind." (Okay, it wasn't exactly that....) At the point where John Cusak is sitting in the straight jacket, I went "oh screw this shit" and actually grabbed my jacket and got up to leave. My friend pleaded with me to stay, so I did. Not only did they screw with your mind (I don't mind a good mind fuck movie; The Sixth Sense; The Others) but this one seemed like they did it purposefully just to screw with you, were as the two movies mentioned before, kept the story going with the same sense they had started it with, and made the movie complete with the twist endings. This one veers off and hits a huge tree then bursts...

Identity: 8/10 In the beginning of Identity, a series of bizarre coincidences bring ten strangers, including Ed (John Cusack), a limo driver for Caroline Suzanne (Rebecca De Mornay), Det. Rhodes (Ray Liotta), transporting a criminal, and George York (John C. McGinley), with his son Timothy (Bret Loehr), and injured wife Alice (Leila Kenzle). As torrential rain pours down in the middle of desert Nevada, people start dying in weird ways, and everyone has to stay safe. In the middle of the time of Darkness Falls and House of 1000 Corpses, here comes an intelligent, mostly original horror films that tries to go back to the hey-day of Friday the 13th and the like. It has some gruesome murders, some good scares, some cheap scares, good acting, and a great ending. The MPAA states that Identity is rated R for “strong violence and language.” The violence wasn’t that strong, but some of the images were horrific, such as the one in that shed (I won’t say any more). I’m glad that there’s a horror movie that a) doesn’t g...

Hmmm...what can I say about this film? Well-made, generally, but the plot is much less complicated than it should be and except for the anticlimax, it also gets a bit predictable. The performances in this film were quite good. John Cusack was great as the brooding ex-cop-turned-limo driver, Amanda Peet was OK as the plucky lead heroine, Paris (except for her cheesy "I Know What You Did Last Summer" moment where she screams "What do you want? Come get us!" or something to that effect), Ray Liotta was pretty good, John C. McGinley was wonderful as usual as the stressed out, anal-retentive stepfather, Pruitt Taylor Vince was terrifying as a man about to be executed, who turns out to have more to do with the film than originally hoped, and Clea DuVall had the film's best performance, an emotional, depressing character. The writing in this film is getting overrated up the ass. Once you get past the main "twist" to the story (which, under the assumption that the audience is too stupid...

Identity **Some minor spoilers throughout** At a time when generic, cookie-cutter slashers are becoming the norm, Identity was a refreshing change of pace. This is a movie that sports cool characters, an interesting premise, a creepy and atmospheric setting, as well as a few expected twists and turns here and there. On the same night that a convicted killer is getting a last chance appeal before being put to death, a huge rainstorm has forced ten people to take refuge at a roadside motel. Although they’ve never met each other there seems to be some kind of connection between them. As the rain continues to fall, people start to turn up dead and the survivors are left to figure out who’s committing the murders before they wind up dead themselves. Although more of a thriller than a horror film, per se there are still plenty of horror elements to be found here. The hotel setting is put to good use in creating a very creepy atmosphere that is only deepened by the non-stop rain. Although most of the action takes p...

Identity is a creepy, suspenseful and smart thriller with a Hitchcockian plot that should be entertaining and intriguing to anyone who knows nothing about the film beforehand. Unfortunately, before I saw this film yesterday I stumbled onto a post on this site, where somebody mentioned who "the killer" was in this film. Although the journey of this film is very good which was full of suspense and atmosphere, knowing what I already knew really took me away from what would be the eventual plot twist and emotional impact of the conclusion of this film...and by the end I fealt a little bit cheated. The story involves 10 strangers who wind up stranded at a Nevada motel amidst a torrentual rainstorm. They include a feisty hooker played by the wonderful Amanda Peete, a family who get a flat tire, which includes father John C. McGinley, his wife and a small quiet child. While they are changing the tire...the wife gets hit by a passing limo driven by ex-cop Ed played by the always good John Cusack(and real s...

**SPOILER AHEAD** Although the film's murderer was predictable (Come on people!!! The Mother was plowed by a limo while focusing her attention on her son. She later passes after her son "visited" her. Two HUGE clues ...) I found Identity to be one of the most interesting and thought-provoking thriller in quite some time. As JoBlo said, it won't "work" for everyone. It worked for me. Everything came full circle. The multiple personality disorder ... nice touch. I've been accused of being over analytical of a film in the past. But with Identity, despite it's (few) flaws, I was able to escape and enjoy. **END SPOILER** Identity ~ 10/10

7/10 This movie was great, but I'm gonna seem i hate it because I'm going to bitch a lot about it. Why? Because it's so much more fun than praising it! just kidding. This movie was intriguing and thought-provoking. Well casted and well put together. Definitely you should see it sooner or later. The problem I had was that the director of the film tried hard to maximize the scare quality. He tried to make some cheap scares by using build-up and shock value. The thing he hadn't realized was it would have been twice as scary had he hadn't tried so hard, stop trying to use that cliche of a quick transition from subtle to in-your-face. Had he kept it at one level and made everything flowed together, it would have been more powerful. I think that wasn't what the script was going for and the director had to make it more to the audience of the slasher genre. But other than that, the film was really great. I did however know what was going on about thirty minutes of the film. Note that it was still unpredictable, I ju...

I've seen the best movie of this year so far. The film that I'm talking about is Identity. I had seen trailers for this film at least 4 times before other films I had seen, and every time I saw the trailer I was pulled into it more and more. Each time I saw it I couldn't stand not knowing what was going on at this hotel. I'll do the best I can not give away and spoilers and if I do I'll warn you before hand, but I just have to say that you need to see this movie. The story is simple. It's a dark and stormy night with flooded roads and nowhere to go. John Cusack plays a limo driver who says he's a former cop, he's taking the movie star, Rebecca DeMornay, and there is an accident that involves another three people who are a family. All five of them end up at a hotel together. Five other people eventually join them. Ray Liotta is a cop who is transporting a criminal played by Jake Busey, Clea DuVall and William Lee Scott are a just married couple, and Amanda Peet is a hooker who ran out of gas and was picked up...

IDENTITY - 7/10 (minor spoilers!) A wicked film with a great premise, solid acting, and lots of twists and turns. I can definitely say I was creeped out the whole way through and jumped quite a few times. This movie definitely is not for "zee squeamish" as Joblo so eloquently put it. That scene with the baseball bat did it for me..wow. Genius. Amanda Peet impressed me somewhat and the brief appearance by Rebecca DeMornay (ooh la la!) was also quite good.. I had only one main issue with this film. Clea DuVall. All she did was cry and scream. I could've done with out her. Not that she is a bad actress by any stretch of the imagination, but her part was just way too thin. And her annoying "husband" who wasn't much of a husband if he couldn't even put his arm around her and comfort her..I was glad to see his character bite the big one. Other than those two minor flaws, this film is definitely all-around entertaining and will keep you guessing and probably jumping a few times. I can't say I'm ...

9/10 ***************Mad Spoilers!!!!************************* Loved the film! But most of all what is annoying me is the fact that everyone keeps saying "timmy is the killer!" 'Kay let's get this striaght... none of these people, including Timmy, ever existed! Timmy is not a killer but just the tortured evil child inside the serial killer. Timmy is the dominant personality. While Alfred Molina gets him sentenced to a psych hospital, because he thinks he has eliminated all the bad personalities he really just ends up with his two main parts. The Extreme Good and the extreme evil (Amanda Peet vs. Timmy). Timmy wins over because he is in all essentiality evil! So stop freaking out over the little kid being evil because it's only a metaphor.

Identity - 10/10 HOLY SHIT!! What's scarier than the shit going on in this movie is to think that there is a mind out there capable of producing something this psychotic and fucked up! I remember the feeling I had walking out of Memento way back when... that disorienting, lost, bewildered feeling coming down from a mindfuck high. I really have missed that feeling as of late, when I have gone into a theater expecting something crazy as hell and coming out feeling like I wasted my money. Actually, there are exactly three recent movies that come to mind when I think of great thrillers: this one, The Ring, and Frailty. Aside from The Ring, all of these were movies that I watched with relatively low expectations and came out pleasantly surprised. Ok, so, a cop, an ex-cop, a hooker, a serial killer, and several strangers walk into a motel, and.... sounds like the opening line of a crappy joke... but the effect of this movie is definately not laughable, just very sick and bizarre. I refuse to give away much about t...

When I first saw the trailer for this movie, I thought, it might be alright. Let's go and give it a chance. It may have the best $8 I have spent in a while. Acting: John Cusack was very good in this movie. He is really in a transitional point in his career. This may be the one movie that takes him from being the young comedic actor, to the serious, dramatic actor he is capable of. Ray Liotta always bring a strong charisma to the screen, and does so with this one. he has that over the edge sense about him, that keeps you guessing about his true identity in the movie. Amanda Peete was surpringly strong. After seeing her in the Whole 9 Yards I was worried her performance would bring the whole movie down. Gladly, I can say she actually made the movie better. The rest of the cast played out well. The movie: Was thrilling, thought provoking, and non-stop. If you take a minute off, you will miss something. The twists and the turns. This is not a slasher movie. There is some gore, and some violence, but it all adds ...

Let me say first.. Whoa! Nothing you'll expect. Oh yeah, and this post conains major spoilers! Sitting in the theater waiting for the movie to begin I wasn't expecting much, just entertainment. When the trailers had finished the man infront of me was whispering to his wife or girlfriend. I wasn't paying to much attention to the film because I was looking at them. I guess, I missed a big part so don't miss the start (clues to the twist/twists) luckily my friend told me what had happened. Later on it cuts to a guy sitting in a motel watching wheel of fortune. A second after a big man comes in with a nearly dead women yelling "Theres been an accedent. She's bleeding bad" or something like that. Then it cuts to a flashback when the women is hit by the car. I'm not quite sure what to say about this movie. I was looking forward to this movie more than any other movie this year and since Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None" is one of my favorite books with one of the best plots ever, I expected that, since this movie looked to be similar, this would be my new favorite movie. It wasn't what I thought it would be...but was that a bad thing? I dunno....here goes... PLOT: Due to strange occurances that only fate could have put together, 10 strangers are stranded at a run down motel in Las Vegas during a crazy storm. All the characters seem to have a secret to hide and they regard all the others with suspicion. Soon enough, they begin to be killed off, in true horror movie fashion. So they assume that the killer must be one of them...who else could it be? Nothing and no one is what or who they seem to be...and that's where things went downhill for me. ACTING: Amanda Peet is funny and always easy to watch. She does a good turn as a bitter prostitute, ...

************ SPOILERS ************ This movie really bit the big one for me. I really thought it was pretty cool, up to the bit when they found out what was "really going on" in that guy's head. Now, I'm all for mind-fuck sorta movies(6th Sense, for example) but this movie really didn't do it for me. It was like "Ok, so none of them are real? Why do a give a flyin' fuck about ANY of the characters that just died?" Plus, do you really think a bunch of lawyers and shit would sit around a room in the middle of the night tryin' ta see if the "killer personality" was dead? I don't think so. The ending was pretty bad too..."Oh no, the little kid(pretty predictable) is gonna kill her!" WHO CARES?!? SHE'S NOT REAL! Kill her for all I care. All in all, a big disapointment.

My Review of Identity IN SHORT: The most fun i have had watching a murder mystery/thriller since 2001's MEMENTO THE GOOD:Even when the SCREAM series of films grew lame what kept me involved was trying to figure out who the killer was.In this movie we have ten people brought together, each with secrets, and skeletons in their closets. So many secrets and twists that i found myself laughing at how insane a ride the movie was becoming.Add to the mix two of the greatest intense, actors of our time,John Cusack as Ed,Ray Liotta as Rhodes.Special kudos go to Ray i have always admired his intensity and his i dont give a damn attitude.Rebecca DeMornay still proving she has a body that wont quit ,wow was Risky Business really 20 years ago?? And it seems Jake Busey as Robert has not only inherited his dad Gary's teeth but his creepy factor too. Also Amanda Peet holds her own here too.Her acting is improving with time.I cant say much more i will spoil everything . I snuck into this last night. Shh... Identity is a great film. Very thrilling, and it's filled with great performances. Something you don't see everyday in a horror movie. The film has amazing pace. And great turns and twists. It kept me guessing, and at the edge of my seat. Hell, it had people cursing and praying in the movie theater. I loved it. John Cusack is great. He delivers the best performance so far of 2003, in the best movie so far of said year. All in all, a solid 9/10.

Very good time at the movies I must say. I was not disappointed in the slightest. The trailer was well made now that I think of it, because it made me think it was going to take a certain road and it was completely different...huzah! All the actors ruled(I even liked Jake Busey), although Clea Duvall annoyed the piss out of me at times. I must say that John C. McGinley was spot on as he always is, and so was Ray "The" Liotta(good review ARROW), Johnny Cusack and Amanda Peet. Too bad Alfred Molina wasn't in it more, but oh well. Still a fantastic film that I can't wait for DVD...it'll be a while though. A

James Mangold's Identity is everything I could have asked for in a film and more. The film is essentially about a group of strangers who due to flooding, get trapped at a desert motel in a torrential rainstorm. One by one the strangers are viciously murdered leading to a frantic inquiry into who, amongst them, is the killer. Twists, turns, and beaucoup de suspense commence. When thinking back on my Identity experience I do not have a single qualm about the film. Granted it is no Hitchcockian masterpiece of suspense, nor will it win any critics awards, however the thriller delivers big time on the entertainment scale. The film is also not a "by the book" thriller for dummies; it is indeed a well-thought out, imaginative and intelligent thriller that demands your attention in order to try and piece together the puzzle that is Identity. One of the biggest driving forces the film has is its stellar cast. It is refreshing to see an ensemble of lesser known but highly respected actors on screen rather th...

Wow...a huge surprise. Terrific acting, nice cinematography, and very suspenseful throughout. The ending still confuses me a bit...maybe due to the fact I missed some things in the beginning. I'll definitely watch it again. 9/10

(8.5/10) This is a definite for the year's best so far, it requires you to think and pay attention to what's going on. And I thought from the trailer where it showed Jon Cusak talking about what happened at the motel was a big spoiler, but it turned not be to be so. The twist to this is awesome , I enjoyed all the characters in this movie, especially Ray Liotta, it's good to see him doing some quality work.

I liked this movie as well. Jo Blo and I see eye-to-eye on this one so I don't need to rewrite all that. I will say that John Cusack never lets me down and I always love his work. Also, the ending (last few minutes) did throw me for a loop. I need to wrap my head around it for awhile and see what others say about it. ENJOY THE FLICK! ONE OF THE YEAR'S BETTER MOVIES.

Identity was really good. It was one of the best movies I've seen in theaters this year so far. The acting was great. I'll admit, I haven't seen Cusack in many non-comedy movies, so I didn't know how good he'd do, but he was really believeable in this movie. Liotta was also good, as expected. Peet did way better than I expected her to do. It was nice to see McGinley not playing a dick for once. The story was also suspenseful. It was full of great twists. At one point, I thought I'd figured out who did it, and the movie started to go in that direction, but then the ending changed everything. I can see how some people wouldn't like this movie though, as it definitely belongs in the "mindfuck" category. 3.5/4
