If you have not seen the original yet, DO NOT watch Quarantine IT WILL RUIN IT! I watched REC on my comp at 2am, after I "found" it on the internet and it was intense. I had my headphones on full blast sitting in the dark and it was a blast! Definitely an awesome awesome movie. I won't be seeing the remake though, no need to.

I blind bought it myself a few weeks back, and I was pleasantly surprised. It's a good movie, as others have said it is slightly overrated, but it's worth getting.

There are a few moments which make it worth watching, but the film drags after half an hour and then logic takes a vacation at the end. Still, as someguy says, it is better than some of the films being hailed as horror classics. Short version: just rent it. Save your pennies for 'L'Interieur'.

Would I call [REC] a new horror classic? No. Would I consider it to be a really quick, intense and fun horror movie that is better than most horror films coming out today? Yes. I'd recommend getting it though, the US DVD doesn't come out until Quarantine comes out on DVD also and it actually is a pretty good horror film. Just don't believe the hype from people claiming BEST MOVIE EVER or SCARIEST THING I'VE SEEN.

I hate that I have to wait until early next year to watch the film on an actual TV. I have a copy on my computer, but it's so awkward to watch films on. At least I have that until I can get the DVD in my hands, in which it will never leave my DVD player for the first week I have it.

I'm considering getting the R2 edition DVD but I'm not sure if I'd like [REC]. I don't want to blind buy it. Please tell me all about [REC]. Sell me on it. Thank-you.

at least it's coming here to the US eventually. i knew it wouldn't be released until Quarantine was in and out of theatres. Supposedly it's not a shot-for-shot remake and the trailer shows WAY TOO MUCH! No way I am watching Quarantine. I will patiently wait for my [REC] disc! =)

^^what he said^^ If it's a shot for shot... which is it from all accounts, releasing [REC] before hand would pretty much be a built in spoiler, even tho the trailer is pure spoiler. I just watched it again for like the 16th time, and it still works. I'm REALLY hoping our local "indie" theater gets ahold of [REC] for even one showing.

Yeah...I figured it wouldn't be until like Early '09, which is I why I pre-ordered mine from Amazon UK when it was announced on there, and got it in the mail about a week ago. One of the better films of the year

I found this tidbit on the IMDB message board for the film... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1038988/...nest/114996529 I have just returned tonight from a Special screening of the horror film, JACK BROOKS MONSTER SLAYER starring Robert Englund at the Two Boot Pioneer Theatre in New York City, hosted by FANGORIA Magazine. After the screening which was quite good by the way, I managed to have a brief conversation with FANGORIA editor Tony Timpone at the theatre, where we talked about horror films in general. especially the new ones being released including QUARENTINE. Our conversation steered toward REC and it's American release, QUARENTINE and I asked Mr.Timpone, who because of his job as FANGO editor has an inside conection with the studios, what was the reason why Sony/Columbia doesn't want to release REC in US theatres. Mr. Timpone confirmed to me that Sony/ Columbia only will release REC on DVD here in the US after they theatrically release their remake QUARENTINE and that both films will be released on DVD ...
