Im sure people will make connections to 9/11 in their minds as they watch the movie, but the book is more about 1980's Regan Era Nuclear Armageddon Paranoia (wow, cant believe I just came up with that) plus, the movie takes place almost entirely in 1985. Though Im sure as people watch it, they will adapt it to their current life experiences, 9/11 included. More then anything though, I hope that like in the book, what shines through is humanity (and yes hokey as it may sound, LOVE) in the midst of all the chaos. I hope the movie sticks to its roots and doesnt pussy out on the ending, which knowing how hollywood works will more then likely be the case. I guess some sacrafices can be expected for a story of this magnitude to get to the silver screen. ...

I've never really been into graphic novels (boring much?), so when I tried to read Watchmen, I couldn't get past the first few pages. However, this movie looks... like it could be really, really good. That song in the trailer was seriously amazing! I'll wait until I see some more trailers to decide if I want to see this, though.

To adapt Watchmen even remotely successfully, it will take talent. The book has always been considered to be 'unfilmable.'

I'm not familiar with the graphic novel, but the trailer didn't seem like anything special and the special effects didn't impress me. I don't understand Zack Snyder's reputation. So he adapts comics exactly as they're written and drawn because he doesn't have any talent?

The song is "The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning" by the Smashing Pumpkins. It was a part of the single "The End Is The Beginning Is The End" was was released for Batman & Robin. However, despite the songs having the same chorus, they are otherwise different.
