Forum: JoBlo | | Why I think this is completely morally wrong for limiting what people can watch at least the Chinese are spared the constant mass of terrible horror that have been coming out these past couple of years (except Neil Marshall, Danny Boyle, and potenitally Craig Singer flicks) I'm serious it seems like all the horror flicks you see nowadays are crappy remakes, crappy sequels, or crappy ripoffs. | | Static Link |

Do they really think that anyone else cares whether or not their citizens watch horror flicks? Of course, the government over there is known for being oppressive, and they're probably just using the Olympics as an excuse to conduct a crackdown they would have already implemented anyway. But the country has such a thriving black market that people are going to watch their horror movies no matter what the govt says. Really, what's the point? Anyways, I have a hunch the ban will be quietly lifted or at least outright ignored after the Olympics leave town. | | Static Link |

Forum: JoBlo | | http://www.reuters.com/article/oddly...ddlyEnoughNews BEIJING (Reuters) - China has added ghosts, monsters and other things that go bump in the night to its list of banned video and audio content in an intensified crackdown ahead of the Beijing Olympics. Producers have around three weeks to look through their tapes for "horror" and report it to authorities, the General Administration of Press and Publications said in a statement posted on the government Web site. Offending content included "wronged spirits and violent ghosts, monsters, demons, and other inhuman portrayals, strange and supernatural storytelling for the sole purpose of seeking terror and horror," the administration said. The new guidelines aim to "control and cleanse the negative effect these items have on society, and to prevent horror, violent, cruel publications from entering the market through official channels and to protect adolescents' psychological health."
