The sad thing is that I just found out about this and it kinda feels like I died a little inside. I remember when I was sick like, 7 or 8 years ago I was sick for pretty much the whole summer and I was feeling really shity so my dad went to go and get me a few movies. He came back with a load of DTV Horror and bad Action movies with Steven Segal and stuff like that, But under that pile of shit was Jamming in New York. I asked my dad who George Carlin was and he told me to just sit back and watch. Needless to say, whenever I hear someone ask "Why are we here?" I reply "PLASTIC!!!! ASSHOLES!!!" R.I.P. Air Marshal Carlin

In 1961, Carlin married Brenda Hosbrook, whom he had met while touring the previous year, in her parents' living room in Dayton, Ohio. The couple had a daughter, Kelly, in 1963. In 1971, George and Brenda renewed their wedding vows in Las Vegas, Nevada. Brenda died of liver cancer a day before Carlin's 60th birthday, in 1997. Carlin later married Sally Wade on June 24, 1998, and the marriage lasted until his death - two days before their tenth anniversary.

HBO was running a George Carlin marathon this evening; I caught the end of "You Are All Diseased" followed by the beginning of "It's Bad For Ya" when a thought came to mind... I recall hearing about some crackpot religious groups who were talking about picketing Heath Ledger's funeral because of his role in Brokeback Mountain. Given George's bludgeoningly atheistic views (which I don't always agree with - though his bit about praying to Joe Pesci is fucking golden), has anything like that come up in the wake of his death? Just because I find it astounding how many folks in the world can't take a bloody joke.

R.I.fuckingP. The one and only good thing about his death is that we get to watch all of his brilliant comedy shows on HBO for the next couple of weeks. Good for us not him obviously.

Of course he was an amazing comedian, and he did a lot more than just those few movies we remember. RIP.

I don't mean to spam (if that's what this is), but I just found out that Larry King tonight is paying tribute to Carlin with an awesome list of comedians that include Seinfeld, Lewis Black, and Carlin's daughter and brother. I know I'm going to watch the show.

I'll always remember him as Rufus in the Bill & Ted movies, but he'll always be remembered as one of the funniest comedians ever. We're losing a lot of great entertainers this year. R.I.P.

im sure im adding nothing new... but Carlin was one of my all time favorite comedians... and this is truly shocking and sad news. 2008 is such a terrible year for celebrity deaths its a shame the Carlin box set is like $200 or i would have bought it a while ago (i dont have that type of cash to spend $200 on a DVD box set) RIP to one of the greatest

I'm reminded of my first job as I now, in honor of George, listen to some of his albums at work. At my first job I was left pretty much on my own with a computer that had net access. I took advantage of the highspeed connection and downloaded a plethora of comedy albums from Eddie Murphy, Sam Kinison, Richard Pryor and of course George Carlin. I particularly remember one incident while I was listening to George, going on that rant about Rape and how you can't make it funny, and he then told the audience to envision Elmer Fudd raping Porky Pig. He followed that with asking where we thought most rape would occur; in hot or cold weather. Then proceeded to explain why he thought it'd happen more in cold weather climates. Now obviously, this is George, and its a no-brainer to listen to this stuff with headphones while at work. Well in the middle of him explaining the profusion of cold weather sexual assualt, my headphones were pulled out from the socket, and out from the speakers George's voice comes screaming ou...

CNN Poll on main page George Carlin's jokes were:
-Funny
-Offensive Kind of a shitty thing to do when someone dies. Not only that they had a respectable photo for the story at first then went with a really close/granny shot of him that made him look like a criminal.

Fuck NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! This man was an inspiration. He was one of the few adult figures in my life who I felt I could relate to. He had ideas about politics and people and everything in general like I do, and I could relate to him. It wasnt until this year that I discovered his comic stuff, but in this short I have grown to greatly admire this man. He was a free thinker and a smart man. I regret that I will never get to see this comedic legend live. May he rest in Sol (sun). Now everytime I look at the sun I'm gonna think of him. My god this sucks so so so bad. For me George's death is like having someone kick you in the balls and then reach in and jerk your heart out. I can't even take it in. It can't be true

No longer just on notice, Death is officially dead to me. RIP George, you were a one of a kind who made me appreciate the hilarity in the nuances of idiocy in society, and how to poke at it relentlessly to entertaining effect. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go watch some Carlin routines to at least try cheering myself up... ~ "Here's something you'll never hear a man say - 'Stop sucking my dick or I'll call the police!'."

I'm not even a huge fan of his, but when I read the news I actually yelled out "No!"....this was not something I expected to hear. I mean, he's George Carlin. He may have been old, but he certainly was spry. He may have passed on now, but he certainly won't be forgotten. Ever.

Brad Renfro
Heath Ledger
Stan Winston
Sidney Pollack And now George Carlin. Holy shit. Is there a plague going through Hollywood right now? I understand that everyone dies, but I can never remember this many talented people dying so closely together. Yup. I'm officially boycotting the year 2008. 2008, you have been served the notice!
