The first time I saw Go, I didn't like it, but the more I watch it, the better it gets. It really grows on you. I remember growing up on Saved By The Bell, and I watched Showgirls, and wow. It was aweful, but the nudity was great.

Who doesn't like this movie??? (Bring on all the insightful "I don't" replies) I've been championing it since the first time I saw it a few years ago, and have shown it to anyone who asks me for movie advice. Have yet to find anyone who didn't dig it, too bad its so overlooked.

Yeah, that poster was trying to evoke the artwork that was popular in the 70s. It reminds me a lot of the old MAD magazine covers. A lot of bands and movies got into doing their posters in this style. But yeah, this movie is a riot! I love that scene where the priest eats those shrooms they put on his pizza and he starts trippin, and suddenly he says "Santa....Satan....same letters! Same guy!" Cracks me up. Its got a lot of funny lines in it... I enjoyed Nothing but Trouble. Not a badass movie but very enjoyable. Look for a camoe appearance by late rapper Tupac Shakur. North is a good film for the whole family, too bad wasn't successful. Speed 2 wasn't supposed to be made and i can't beleive i paid to see this movie when it arrived in theaters. Kevin Costner's The Postman was intended to be a post-apocalyptic epic as a sucesor to Dances with Wolves. Very bad idea! Showgirls is actually a cult classic! Cool as Ice starring Vanilla Ice, wtf? Freaked and Ed Wood are one my personal favorites. Too bad the film adaptation of The Avengers didn't follow exactly to the british tv show. The only thing in the movie that was awesome was Uma Thurman's dress.

Nothing But Trouble - This movie was trying to capitalize on Beetlejuices success. The formula of weird town, weird people, strangeness all around. Unfortunately this one didnt take off. Why? I dont know. It could be cause Chevy Chase was on his way out? So was Demi? I dont know, all in all, I actually enjoy watching this movie! Too bad it tanked! Kids movies flop too! Rescuers Down Under - Not a bad kids film, has some real nice animation. But it wasnt a musical. And it wasnt as cheery and happy as other Disney films. It was about poachers! I remember one spectacular sequence were the kid flies on top of the giant eagle. Showgirls - One of the most famous turkeys ever came out of the 90s

Last Action Hero - This is where Arnolds decent into crappy movies began. Too bad, cause I kind of have a soft spot for this one. Its a fun movie with an interesting concept. Audiences didnt think so. I think it was the fact that it was a film aimed at teens that made the film flop. Its like a childrens movie, and hard core action oriented adults (who were used to seeing Arnold kill 500 guys in five minutes) were turned off by the kid sidekick and the comedic hi-jinks. Meet the Deedles - Two Bill and Ted wanna be's didnt make the grade. Sorry. Mighty Joe Young - King Kongs son runs rampant through the city. People no likey. Why? I dont know, it was a fairly decent flick. - Newsies - Highschool Musicals older brother...ugh.

More flops... Ed Wood - Didnt connect with audiences...such a pity, its such a great movie. Freaked - This movie was directed by Alex Winters (Bill from Bill and Ted) it was filled with creatures, and latex, and jokes. Amusing watch. Holy Man - Eddie Murphys decent into madness began with movies like Holy Man....he never quite recuperated after that. Hudson Hawk - A very misunderstood film. I love it! Its hilarious! The Iron Giant - This is the movie that got Brad Bird started in his ascend into greatness. Now his doing masterpieces! Films like the wonderful Ratatouille and The Invincibles. Iron Giant is actually an excellent flick, but bombed sadly.

And who could forget the 90's resurections of the Universal Monsters... BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA You look at everything but the picture itself (Gary Oldman cast as Dracula, Anthony Hopkins cast as Van Helsing, fuckingTOM WAITS, and another adaptation being taken on by Francis Ford Coppola) and you really can't understand how this thing didn't catch on as a modern day masterpeice. But then you watch the film and find yourself submerged in possibly the two worst performances in the history of major motion pictures. Okay, so Winona Ryder is bad but not the worst ever. That was a little exaggerated. But Keanu Reeves?! Absolutely atrocious. I never really got why this guy got so much shit until I saw this film. Wow. How did FFC restrain himself from firing the guy? He's absolutely awful. People complain about Sofia Coppola's performance in Godfather 3, but she's fuckin Robert DeNiro compared to Keeanu in this film. And why Gary Oldman's potrayal of Dracula is so odd and seeming homosexual still puzzles me. 67/100 MA...

Great choice with Dirty Work. That ranks right up there with Billy Madison as one of those terrible movies that the cast makes hilarious. The world needs more Norm McDonald. And Hook wasn't really a "flop" per say, but it defintiley fell below expectations.

Cool idea for a thread. The first film that comes to mind is The Shadow. Only made around $30 million domestically and it was released on July 1st, 1994, so it definitely had its sights on being a big summer movie. It hasn't aged very well, but I can still appreciate it for its psuedo-noir atmosphere and cheesy acting and action. What can I say? It entertains me.

Heavy Weights is excellent. "Kids, at age 12, I weighed 319 pounds. I had bad skin, low self-esteem, and no self-respect. Now, I eat success for breakfast... with skim milk." Brilliant.

Why is Hook being called a flop? It made $120 million at the domestic box office, and $180 million overseas. That's a nice chunk of change. Personally, I think it's a pretty good movie - subpar by Spielberg standards, but still a pretty good movie.

Its probably still one of the all time biggest flops but I love Cutthroat Island. I know theres so many asinine things in it but I always have fun watching it. I also like Waterworld, The Postman, Congo, Hook & Angus. And while theres all this talk of Kevin Costner I'll throw in The War a movie I like alot.

I am surprised ANGUS never really caught on. It has George C. Scott as the grandfather and Kathy Bates plays the Mom. The kid that played Angus did a good job. A pre-American Pie Shermantor plays the best friend and James Vander Beek (sp?) is the bully. I recall the movie being pretty good for what it was. It didnt bring anything new to the table. But it wasnt as bad as some other "high school outcast becomes cool" films . Heavyweights is a good flick. I own the DVD.

I thought we could use a spot to share our favorite flops from the nineties in a review/rant style thread about the numerous box office busts of the nineties. Not quite sure what the threads about? Watch the Phantom, Congo, Hook, Waterworld, or Judge Dread and you'll know what I'm talking about. I guess I'll start off with a couple, feel free to add your own: HEAVYWEIGHTS Part of Disney's slew of live action underdog films of the mid 90's spurred by the success of the Mighty Ducks (and even featuring much of the same cast and writer/director Steven Brill), Heavyweights is a criminally overlooked film about kids just wanting to be kids. We start off on the last day of school as the students erupt out of school and head home for freedom. But for Jerrald Garner, his parents have plans of sending him off to camp...fat camp. The movie is absolutely hilarious and still is to this day. Its the rare breed of comedy that truley any age can get a laugh out of. Now days we're plagued with CGI rehashings of stories we'v...
