In that sense they are very similar to the Hellraiser films which I should also include on these threads. Heres some fantasy/horror from the 90s: Leprechaun - Wow, this ones a mega cheese fest. I actually made a group of my highschool friends see this one in the theaters because I thought it was going to kick ass. Everyone wanted to kill me after we got out of the theater (actually during the movie as well) specially since our other option was Bram Stokers Dracula, a far superior picture. Still, this movie is cheesy fun. I re-watched it a couple of days ago, its actually a fun watch cause the movie is so bad. It comes to us from director Anthony Hickox, who also directed films like Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth, Return of the Living Dead III, and the two Waxworks movies. The storyline for Warlock: The Armageddon, has the Warlock reborn, coming back to try and find five magical stones which can open up a portal and bring Satan himself onto earth, because according to this movie, Satan is "trapped" in hell and he needs these five stones to be released and start the Armageddon, the destruction of humanity and all that stuff. Coming from this director, it doesnt surprise me that the story is very similar to the story seen in Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth. Actually theres many things between Hellraiser III and Warlock: The Armageddon. The premise is basically the same exact one, bringing hell on earth and the destruction of huma... | | Read Entire Entry |

And Mark Hamill turns into a giant cockroach! And Guyver 2: Dark Hero, feels like an episode of the Power Rangers on acid. I like this one a lot too because it dives into the origins of the Guyver unit. By the way, the first Guyver movie is also know as Mutronic! | | Static Link |

Not that bad at all...except for the ending which turns to shit in 0.5 seconds. Joe Dante, where are you? Excellent b-movie that mixes the Frankenstein legend, with time traveling science fiction elements. Directed by Roger Corman himself. ANd stars Raul Julia as Dr. Frankenstein. | | Static Link |

I love all the different types of Gremlins on this one. One of the worst movies ever made: Actually this is a very fun movie. And an entertaining pirate flick. Lots of adventure, sword fights, cannons shooting, its a great pirate movie! Too bad it brought down a whole film studio to bankruptcy! Weird monster flick, directed by Alex Winters, thats Bill from Bill and Ted for those not in the know. Hudson Hawk, Bruce Willis directed this flick and its actually very very fun. It has some fantasy elements to it. They need to find some stones that Davinci hid in his artwork to start up a machine that turns ordinary metal into gold or something.. Hasnt been mentioned yet. Cool concept, unfortunately, I dont think Arnold ever recovered from this one. After this, it was all downhill for Arnold. But thats not to say this movie is unwatchable. Forum: JoBlo | | Death Becomes Her did have a showcase of effects, but the story at its core is about people unwilling to accept their mortality. Its about that crisis people reach at a certain point in their lives when they realize they are no longer in their youth. ANd start scattering for ways to look younger. Its got a solid theme at its core, but I agree, the effects took center stage. They were ground breaking for their time thats for sure. I believe this one came out a little bit before even Jurassic Park did. So its one of those first few movies to use CGI in innovative ways. Right up there with T2 and Willow and The Abyss and all that. So its got its importantance in film history. I thought about doing one about the 70s, but a lot of people here are turned off by anything before the 80s. Fuck it, we should do one about science fiction before the 80s. I think we've pretty much covered the 90's so im eagerly waiting to see what will be our next destination, will it be the 60's or 70's ? some good stuff made back then and both decades could probably be covered in a single thread or will we head forward all the way to the...wait for iiiit...year 2000! And speaking of Dean Koontz.....has anyone seen the Watchers series? Here are some sequels released during the 90's. Very underrated movies but i recomend the novel written by Dean Koontz. Corey Haim co-starred in the first movie.Mark Singer from The Beastmaster stars in the sequel! Sweet! This sequel was inspired(or ripped off)a lot from Predator. Is it Horror ? Is it a Thriller or maybe even a Drama ? nah its only... Been a while ive seen this sucker but i recall it being alright. Its just one of those films that didnt aim very high wich can be said about most run of the mill thrillers of the late 90's/early 2k.
