Seven Samurai - The runtime is a drag, and besides Kambei and Kikuchiyo, the characters just don't "emerge". John Sturges tells the same story to greater effect in The Magnificent Seven, with 80 minutes off the length and with an ensemble that leaves its mark big time. | | Static Link |

I really don't see the need for the praise here... -Raging Bull (7/10) Another so called masterpiece that really isn't any better than just "okay". I absolutely fell in love with both DeNiro and Scorsese when I saw Taxi Driver and Goodfellas, so my expectations were through the roof for this film. Hell, I even loved Casino but I just couldn't get into this one. -Lord of the Rings Trilogy I've still yet to finish a single film in the series. They're that god awful and boring! Walking in the mountains for three hours would bore me in real life, why do I need to see lame wizards and hobbits do it for three straight films? | | Static Link |

2001
Scarface (I agree with "it's fucking awful")
Gone with the Wind
The Wizard of Oz
Pulp Fiction
Boondock Saints (if it's considered a "classic" yet)
Saving Private Ryan
Raging Bull oh yeah, and CRASH. Big time. Quote: Originally Posted by spacemonkey know, I used to be a 2001 hater. I used to think the movie was as many people say "boring". I watched it once a year for 5 years straight, seen it 2 time before THAT, and watched it once every couple years after that stint. Michael Clayton. Other than Clooney's great performance, this is a very bland, middle of the road film. The story is slightly engaging, at best. And I don't know how Tilda Swinton wins an Oscar for a 5 minute scene, because that's how long she was in the movie for. Gone Baby Gone should've been the 5th Best Picture contender, not a movie nobody will remember in 5 years. | | Static Link |

It's like the writers were lazy and just so ok... We will have the young hotshot cop and the wise old man cop.... Obviously, at the time the two chosen actors where the best to fill the cliche roles. Live Free or Die Hard-This is a Michael Bay movie with Bruce Willis in it and the Die Hard label at the top. That's all it is. Crappy cliche dialogue and the naturally predictable ending. One explosion after another. Poor bad guy and just a redundant action movie. Titanic-Cheesy love story makes me sick. | | Static Link |

It last just enough to let you know how tough life was for those first ape men, living in a world they didnt not completely understand yet. Those scenes show how their life was pretty uneventful, and yes even boring. Personally I truly admire Kubrick for doing what he did with this film. When I watch those scenes, I feel like I am being transported to that time. You feel the stillness of those days, no cars, no planes, no buildings. Just "man" and the wild. The cinematography in those scenes is pitch perfect and so beautiful. Im amazed how well this movie still holds up. The images are crystal clear, colors are perfect... | | Read Entire Entry |

But, the type of film making/humor/dialog (plus scenes which would normally not be funny but were intentionally made funny by Tarintino) do not work for everyone. So I can understand the dislike. And to add to my list from earlier, I have to go with one that has been mentioned above: There Will Be Blood. That being said, Del Toro is still a pretty good filmmaker. And anything with Marilyn Monroe, essentially. I was not around back then, so I do not know what type of fame and respect she garnished, or if her legendary status was just because of her death, but damn... She was no actress. | | Static Link |

I actually fell asleep the first time I tried to watch the first one (which never happens to me when watching movies). While I've only seen it once, I thought the Godfather was overly dramatic and a bit cheesy. For more recent movies, I didn't really care for There Will Be Blood. Also, No Country for Old Men I thought was 3/4 of a great movie, but then the ending killed it. It's like they decided to go out of their way to try and make the movie espicially "deep and meaningful" to win some awards... and it worked. It was such an excellent crime/thriller until they totally fucked it up; so anti-climatic. | | Static Link |

But a movie that baffled me the most...No Country for Old Men. Tommy Lee Jones' character didn't influence the story, he was just telling it and with him hunting Javier what'shisface I thought there would be a huge climax and final confrontation...which I did not get. I admit it was well written and the actors all did a great job but I just could not enjoy this film. | | Static Link |

The characters were flat. Zed and Maynard seemed much more well rounded from their couple of minutes on screen in Pulp Fiction than any of the characters in either Kill Bill film. Juno got a lot of love from critics, but I don't think it was warranted. | | Static Link |

Theres no plot whatsoever and its just about the city of Rome from different angles..theres no plot, not story, not nothing, its just a bunch of different images of Rome. Its streets, its national landmarks. It had great moments like the one where they uncover those paintings in an ancient underground catacomb..or that last scene inside of the church, but as a whole, I just didnt enjoy it as much as I did enjoy other Fellini films. | | Static Link |
