8/10 Wow, all these negative reviews and opinions... This is actually one of my favourite comedies, like, ever. Sure, it's all been done before in som way or another, but I always think it's not WHAT you do, it's HOW you do it. For example, Reservoir Dogs. The whole plot is basically taken from a fairly obscure to Western masses Hong Kong movie. But how it uses it's highly unoriginal plot is another thing all together. Same with this. Yes all the characters are cliched sterotypes, the story itself, while not a remake, is fairly familiar and the jokes have been done before in some form or another. Hell, my favourite part is the old '50s training video, and that gag has been done to death. One of the funniest movies of recent times.

The one thing that I got out of this movie as I finished watching the DVD was: this movie's stupid. But it seemed to be intentional. From the plot, ending, cliches, love stories, the characters - practically everything. There didn't seem to be a lot of effort going into this movie except to make it as pointless as possible. Don't get me wrong, there are some funny moments - but they don't come from Ben Stiller's ANNOYING ass character - White Goodman. Most of the laughs came from the Dodgeball scenes where people are getting pounded with rubber balls, wrenches, whatever. While I probably won't ever see this movie again, I watched it in the first place mostly because of Vince Vaughn. I like the guy and his brand of comedy. He's not laugh out loud hilarious in this movie (nobody is), but he actually pulls out a halfway decent performance. His "rejects" are as cliched as they come: the down and out guy who's in love with a cheerleader, the nerd, the old nerd, and the hot chick who will ultimately end ...

Pretty funny, but a lot of the gags fell flat. Rip Torn is a hero, though 6/10

To be honest this movie was just too weird. I wasn't expecting to be so weird. When I say weird I mean dumb humor. I unfortunatly didnt laugh as much as I would have liked, and didnt have as great of time as I hoped. I would have given a lower grade but Ben Stiller had a few good moments. He's a talented guy, just stuck in the wrong world in this movie. **WARNING** SPOILERS **WARNING** Vince Vaughn, Stiller, and Stephen Root do what they can with what their given. It makes us smile but not laugh. They are good actors as I've said before but the script seems too stupid. The Dodgeball tournament itself is very, unrealistically short. It could have all been wrapped up in one night and it ends up taking a week or something like that. Not cool. The ending is just confusing I would also like to add. THe whole movie is all about backstabbing and greed. And when Vince Vaughn team the Dodgeball tournament they do not explain why Stiller still gets to keep his property. But of course all comedies end happily so they ...

I watched this film last night and I must say that I thought it was FUCKING horrible. The story was shit and so formulaic. I understand this is supposed to be a goofball comedy, but just simply adding in the goofball comedy ingredients does NOT make it funny. In the first hour, I think I saw: Girl hired by bad guy but doesn't like bad guy so sides up with good guy despite that she works for badguy and pisses off bad guy. Stereotype character: A man who acts like a pirate Stereotype character: Middle aged loser Stereotype character: High School Geek Token black guy with no stereotype Stereotype character geek A fat chick falling on the high school geek into a 69 position Brushing teeth and gargling with yoo hoo A grotesque female character that serves no purpose other than to be funny because she's grotesque and Ben Stiller talking in an annoying voice. This movie was simply too much. The comedies today have become so shitty that it seems like these film makers just like to patch up a bunch of formulas and ac...

dodgeball The suprise of the year fo me so far i loved every goofy minute of it,ben stiller was fantasticly over the top and beefed upto the max for this role he had me in stitches with the shit he came out with.vince vaughn played the part as he was supposed to be as a laid back could'nt really care less kind of guy. There was plenty of memorable sequences for me the whole rip torn training section was hilarious, the actual games themselves were funny especially against some of the freakier sides. there were one or two lulls or moments that made you sort of grimace the whole pirate bit i did'nt get either but on the whole i thought it was a good movie. 8/10 for me.

Dodgeball Review İreel-reviews.net Rated PG 13 Running time 92 minutes Directed by Marshall Thurber (writer) Starring: Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor, Justin Long, Stephen Root, Joel Moore, Chris Williams, Alan Tudyk, Rip Torn, Gary Cole, Jason Bateman How in the name of all that's holy this movie got a PG 13 rating is utterly beyond me. Clearly the MPA is delusional and should be ashamed of itself. The crass sexual humor fairly drips from every scene. So before I say anything else I must, once again, beg parents to use their heads and keep children away from Dodgeball. It is absolutely NOT appropriate for kids. It IS appropriate for adults, and it's funny. Dirty, silly, stupid, and funny. As a rule I don't find Ben Stiller as hysterical as Ben Stiller finds himself, but when he's on he's really on. Here he plays second fiddle to Vince Vaughn, who has a Bill Murray quality about him, and it works. Vaughn's casual cool and shoulder shrugging manner is perfect for this kind of comedy. Christine Ta...

i give it an A- The minus for the first part dragging along. All in all I loved the movie. Vince's performance was REALLY mellow. Like he ate some pot brownies.

This movie was funny, but still just kinda "iffy" for me. The jokes were usually pretty good but sometimes they delivered just plain bad punchlines or jokes that felt recyled from Zoolander. The movie does not come even close to hitting any of Ben Stiller's or Vince Vaughn's best moments such as in Meet The Parents or Old School, but its still a fun sit-through. In terms of script and plot, we get the Dodgeball version of Happy Gilmore with plenty of slapstick laughs and a few funny dry jokes, but not quite enogh to sustain its full running time. Think a 55% laugh rate. Vince Vaughn was actually one of the weak points of the movie suprisingly. He always stole the show in Old School, Swingers, Made, or any other movie he seems to co-star in, but this role stunk for him. He just felt like he was there. But it wasn't his fault, he wasn't given very many good jokes. The same can not be said for Ben Stiller who gives us his "Zoolander" imitation again, and does so quite funny. He always can de...

This was just silly fun, nothing more, nothing less. Sure, you can have your smart, brilliant, subtle comedies by Wes Anderson, Christopher Guest, the Coens, etc., but every now and then a good, merry, slapstick gagfest is important in a regular cinema diet. The film especially works for a few specific reasons: it's got a great cast full of great comedic actors from all sides of the comedy spectrum; Ben Stiller is absolutely a riot in this exaggerated, absurd role that we're not used to seeing him in; and finally, because the movie always takes the joke farther than you expect. We're already talking about a movie revolving around fuckin' dodgeball...the creators had every right to make this as over-the-top and bizarre as they wanted. There are some good examples involving Christine Taylor's character, and sports commentators, the various dodgeball teams, etc., but I won't go into specifics because it's just too good to spoil. The only things I really didn't like was that all the dogeball-smacking-people-in-t...
