And this movie is what got me into the T.V series it's why I have been a fan of the series since day one. When this movie first came out I was around 8 years old and I had the tape and I watched it everyday it was my favorite movie when I was a kid and when I heard the T.V series wasing going to be made well... Kristy Swanson is a much better Buffy than SMG could ever be! It has a lot of appropriately placed humour and the acting is great from everyone. It is a shame that this film got such a beating by ritics when you have to remember that it started a very sucessful TV programme. The only problem I have with this film is the discontinuity with the TV programme. But if you are able to look past this then it is a very good film. | | Static Link |

** **** ******* 2/10 Horribly campy and doesn't do the series any kind of justice. Sarah Michelle Gellar can whoop Swanson's butt in both acting and fighting. Uh, Megan, is it. I'm sorry but I think Kristy Swanson SUCKED as Buffy. Sarah Michelle Gellar is much much much more believable. She captures the emotions better as Buffy. So what if she's petite. the Slayer's a girl. They're not neccasarily supposed to look strong.I bet if you were the Slayer you wouldn't look strong or tough. Plus I happen to be a big fan of the TV show. It captures the emotions more seriously of the characters. Plus it does have some humor to it. The point is, since Joss Whedon didn't have any kind of control over this it SUCKED. I'm sure that if you made someone watch this movie and an episode of the 'Buffy' show people would say the series "Buffy" is defintely better. | | Static Link |

It's one of my all-time favorites and I despise the series because I think it doesn't do the movie justice. The series is serious (at least tries to be) with "scary" vampires. Well, the movie is a social satire. It's making fun of itself. The director decided she wanted to take a hands off approach so it has a lot of impromptu. Like Paul Reuben's death scene (good stuff). And I greatly enjoyed David Arquette in this flick too. Also, the movie is called Buffy, and I think that it is so very "buffy" as opposed to the series. I cannot possibly conceive Sarah Michelle Gellar as either a hardcore ass kicker or a girl named Buffy. ~*Megan*~ | | Static Link |
