Just caught "Jumper" on DVD. Cool concept, decent action. The strength of this movie IMO comes from it's short run time. I haven't read it but the story of the book it's adapted from sounds much more promising than what they're setting up. Christiansan as an actor is insufferable. I've yet to see him in anything where he doesn't completely flat-line in the emoting department. Middling to moderately interested about the prospect of a sequel. Will probably again wait for the DVD.

Good book.
Shitty movie.
Money talks in Hollywood.
Shitty sequel won't make as much.
Franchise done. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

I agree with the (surprisingly small) minority here, Jumper sucked and was laughably stupid at points. I'm really starting to lose it for Sam Jackson, he's in the deep end now. Sequel would be a waste of money and talent but hey! that's hardly surprising.

Jumper is one of the most plot hole filled movies I have seen in a while. The premise had so much potential, but it all went to waste. Shitty acting, terrible script, and plot holes up the ying-yang. I mean, that Millie chick sees him after like 10 years of him being supposedly dead, and she acts as if he was never dead. WTF? A sequel is not necessary

It was a fun movie with a pretty weak script but a great premise and amazing SFX. I said at the time and still say I'm game for a sequel.

Lot of plot holes: (Spoiler) He hasn't seen his mom since he was four or something, but when she barges in, he automatically recognizes her.
After being gone for like 12 years, he remembers where everything is and everyone remembers him. I know there's more. This movie was bad. I think because it was too short. They just wanted more money so the just threw together a bad movie. THe action scenes were well done (Save the flamethrower scenes. I had to leave the theatre I was laughing so hard. He looked like a ghostbuster!). Christensen is a TERRIBLE actor! When are people going to realize this? Of course, that's just my thoughts

Here's the bottom line everybody, "Jumper" had it's flaws but it's biggest strength was Jamie "Badass" Bell! I think those who have seen it will agree with me that he made that movie when he was introduced. Everything was kinda slow until he popped up and the movie just got better from there. As well, Samuel L. Jackson was so badass and the action was pretty wicked. SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! Diane Lane was SO HOT in that movie as his Mom!

Meh, I wouldn't mind a sequel. What the film needs is larger scope, a smarter script, and... well, smarter everything... I thought the first film was decent, but it doesn't have any replay value, unlike Liman's other flicks.

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=45788 Quote: Christensen Up for Jumper Sequel Source: Toronto Sun June 9, 2008 With the Jumper DVD (read review) and Blu-ray Disc hitting stores Tuesday, star Hayden Christensen ("Star Wars" prequels) tells the Toronto Sun he's up for a sequel. "We're talking about it," the 27-year-old Canadian actor said. "I know that they're having those conversations, I hear about them." So would he sign on again? "Oh yeah, and I think I probably will." Liman originally planned a movie trilogy based on Steven Gould's novel. Liman spun out a liberal re-imagining of Gould's more personal story about child abuse, which had jumping as a metaphor for escape. "It was set up to become that -- a trilogy -- if it did well," Christensen added. "And I think they're happy with how it did so they want to make another one. But I don't think they're rushing to get into production." Jumper, made for about $85 million, earned a sol...

I never go into threads if there is previous movie, and I have not seen it yet. It is your own fault if you get spoiled. If you go into the original movie's thread, you should have spoiler alerts if you reveal something. This is the sequel thread, everything that happened in the previous movie(s) is fair game.

As for a sequel, I would be in for it. I thought the first one was ok. It wasn't a great movie, but it felt like they were just introducing everything. The sequel would need a lot more meat though.

First its not a trilogy of books. Its just Jumper and Reflex. Griffins Story has nothing to do with that universe. Honestly if the first film was a set-up they really messed up. They're going to have to spend the next film making the main character somewhat likable and they have to give Rachel Bilson a personality. Just so you guys know the first movie had very little to do with the book so they're clearly not drawing from the books for inspiration for the sequel.

And I hope Diane Lane comes back and has a lot more screen time than she did in the first one. The mother against son storyline is one of the more promising aspects of the story. And we hardly got to know anything about the war going on between the jumpers and the group after them. And it would be great to see other Jumpers and other people from the otherside and see just how big this war is. So much promising stuff. I can't freaking wait! I totally agree. The first one was a surprise for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I want to see how big the war between the Jumpers and Paladins is. The story has great potential. Bring it on I say.

I didn't think the movie was that bad, but I was in the minority. I talked to people who hated this thing. I was looking up Doug Liman's filmography and this jumped out at me in his directing credits: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1202244/
