Forum: JoBlo | | The Orphanage I would say falls under the same category as Pans labyrinth...a dark atmospheric ghost story. And if you like The Orphanage, the I strongly urge you to check out The Changeling with George C Scott. A Series of Unfortunate Events is also a good gothic, atmospheric, stylish fantasy. | | Static Link |

Forum: JoBlo | | I think all films are cooler when you watch them in the dark, I often do this in the very early hours of Saturday morning at around 1 or 2. Most of Kubrick's work, Scorsese's After Hours, Spielberg's serious movies (plus War of the Worlds) | | Static Link |

Forum: JoBlo | | As I arguably live on my own, work 8-5 until college, have a Blockbuster MoviePass and am limited financially, I nearly always watch my movies alone in the dark before retiring to sleep. Last night, I saw 'Children of Men', which, like 'Taxi Driver' or 'V for Vendetta' or especially 'Pan's Labyrinth', was the ideal movie for such a setting. So simply, to what other films should I be looking at for ambient appeal? Dark, sombering, desolate, often fantasmic, realistic... | | Static Link |
